A friend and myself went for the African Journey full day spa treatment. The logistics were well thought out and planned. We were greeted and efficiently shown our lockers. Breakfast was well run and we enjoyed the generous breakfast options. The treatments were planned well and everything ran like absolute clockwork. The therapists were friendly and very very pleasant. The lunch was well prepared and tasty, as was the high tea and farewell drink. There were lots of extras we didnt expect but it really made the experience memorable. The actual premises are stunning. I didnt love all of the treatments but enjoyed the hot stone massage, the leg and foot massage as well as the hand and arm massage. I really would recommend this place to any couple wanting to do something different or special. It was well worth the price in my opinion.

Mowana is a lovely spa, I loved my massage there as well as the scenery. I love that most the massages take place outside with a view of nature along with calming sounds of water. Its like theyve incorporated the healing power of nature into the whole spa experience and I loved that.

I have been to Mowana Spa over 3 times now. I love their facilities and loved their service. However when I went the last time I was very disappointed with the service. The reason I am posting this review now is because I want to go for a back massage, but I have a problem now because the Spa I highly regarded gave me a bad service the last time and feel like I cant go back there again.So when I arrived for my appointment I was made to wait outside for sometime. Then later someone took me to a table which seem occupied but insisted I should sit there. Then another person who works there came and said I should move, that was not my table. Then she came and said I am an hour late for the appointment, and I was confused.So I went back to my email and checked if I was wrong. So on my email I had booked a treatment for 13h30 but on the confirmation letter it said 12h30, and I hardly check the confirmation letter because I did not expect them to make a mistake.

Everything is 5 stars. From the complimentary slippers to the amazing food and most of all the relaxing and revitalizing massage experience. My masseuse was Fikile. She was amazingly skilled. We, my wife and I, will definitely come back for more.

After a hectic bridal shower party spanning two days we were due for a relaxing spa day. Upon arrival we were welcomed by traditional ladies singing and dancing in true South African spirit. We were greeted by a friendly host who happily welcomed us with drinks and checked our reservation promptly thereafter we were showed to the change rooms and assigned lockers with our names on it. A personal touch which was quiet special I think. We booked a half day spa and high tea. We began with yummy cappuccinos with a continental breakfast spread to choose from. Followed by our first treatment. A delightful relaxing full body hot stone massage. The room was tranquil and this spa is so peaceful it feels as if youre no longer in the city. My therapist Lungile was excellent and I had a much needed massage which calmed my mind and body. The high was continuous and treats were continuously replenished to be enjoyed during breaks between treatments. The foot massage was absolute heaven and it even put me off to sleep.. The whole experience was incredible. The staff were friendly and made you feel at ease. Since it was a bridal shower treat from my sisters at the end of the treatments the ladies at the spa did a dance and presented me with lovely goodies from their shop of bath time goodies and a traditional African broom given to new brides going to New homes. All the facilities were immaculate. A must visit in my opinion!

Food awful. Half day package was terrible. The therapist was good. Foot massage was ok, the scrub was exceptionally coarse and quiet painful. Head and neck was ok. The full body massage was only 20 minutes. Definitely not worth it. Lovely venue though, country but still in the city.

I have not been to the spa yet i am already disappointed by their lack of communication and professionalism. I sent my full proof of payment on the 31st to Lucinda, but my booking still has not been confirmed and i am due for a treatment tomorrow. I made a telephonic follow up with her and she said she would send it but still nothing. An email follow up i sent yesterday was not responded to either. It only makes me wonder what kind of spa treatment will i get when they eventually confirm my booking (if ever). Please work on your admin service as it reflects badly on your establishment before one even gets to experience it.Update: finally got hold of someone, as it turns out, not only did i not receive my booking confirmation, but our selected meals had not been captured in the system either.

What an amazing experience. The place is lovely, the people are welcoming and accommodating. If youre looking for a spa experience that feels like an oasis in the middle of the of Africa, this is it. And the prices? Wonderful.I received a full body scrub, a leg/foot massage, a full body massage AND a pedicure for the same amount I would pay for a fancy mani/pedi in the US. Oh yeah, and they provided hearty snacks! Their ratings are consistently high for a reason.

We absolutely loved our pamper journey. The staff are friendly and you are continuously guided along your journey. We had an awesome experience at this spa. We bought the African skies spa and stay package. The spa experience starts at 6pm and ends at 11pm. Theres 3 treatments with meal/snack/drinks break between each. The staff were exceptional. Very professional and friendly. They really make you feel papmered. The stay part of the package includes a night at the Indaba hotel with breakfast.

My mom and I visited for the full day experience yesterday and had a wonderful time. The spa is located in a beautiful setting not far from Fourways, the staff are all friendly and professional and the treatments were blissful. The menu was lovely and food was very tasty and plentiful. The shop stocks good quality products, which we of course treated ourselves too. A beautiful day of relaxation and I would highly recommend Mowana Spa.

We booked the half day package. Although food was ok..the entire programme was so rushed: and service at meals was very slow. Although drinks were included..we could get them. Felt a bit cheated! We barely had time to eat. Also the treatments for the leg and back was in a group: thats not what we signed up for!! In addition the other people talked loudly and incessantly. The actual massages too, were with somewhat lack lustre therapists: not good at all. Think being massaged with two sharp sticks. What a disappointment!!

It is so professional,, but truly you have to motivate or train your staff, they are so stressed, maybe Increase their salaries and they are very good.motivate them somehow.

My partner and I visited this spa last week and it was a typical example of how bad service has become in the new South Africa.So many things were bad I am listing them as it will be easier.1. On arrival no smiles or introduction to either the location or the treatment.2. Meat market` feeling where we were allocated a table and along with a bunch of other couples were herded around together all day.3. Music which had noisy background sounds (twitches and twirps) and frequently ground (literally grinding) to a halt and then restarted.4. Lunch over-cooked to the point that it bacame as tough as leather.5. Staff allowing rowdy guests for the entire duration of a treatment (1 hour) within meters of the herd.6. Staff on their phone WHILE PERFORMING THE TREATMENT, WITH THEIR PHONE MAKING TAP SOUNDS WHEN EACH KEY IS PRESSED7. Masseuse with long nails so that this was scraching me.8. Masseuses with their nails in an unsightly mess. My masseuses toes looked like Fionas from Shrek, after exiting a meat mincer someone threw a tin of paint into. I wouldnt ordinarily care but my face being downwards-pointing during the back massage, onto her open shoes made it unavoidable.9. No idea of how to massage, constantly bumping other body parts like my head and shoulder with their elbow.10. I walked out at the end of one of the treatments, asked for the manager and explained what happened. Was told they would get back to me with the course of action but nobody ever did.Im guessing milage may vary but if you are looking for a classy, relaxing, professional and friendly experience I recommend you stay away until they sort out their problems.

Aaah this is pure heaven. Close to home and yet it feels like you are in the bush. So peaceful. The staff are phenomenal, service fantastic and food and drink tops the day off. I definitely recommend!

Great outting, great massage, something out of the ordinary for a relaxed Sunday with friends or loved one. They have different sessions, facials, massages you name it. Its like a retreat actually!!
