I absolutely love Motherland. The vibe is as amazing as the coffee. My standard order is a tall hazelnut flavoured soy milk latte and it always tastes like heaven. They also have an amazingly decadent brownie with white and milk chocolate pieces which is a definite must-have. The service is world class and the staff are consistently friendly and helpful.

Precious family moments are shared in this beautiful, safe ambiance... where Time seems to slow down. The toasted Chicken mayo and avo is an absolute delight and highly recommended. The Peanut butter cup is tasty, filling, and almost a meal on its own. My Mother Cuppa was in its own league - a masterful intersection of quality and quantity. An absolute Delight!

Im a big fan of good lattes and motherland, is probably one of the best places for it. I live in Dubai and frequently travel to Joburg and whenever I visit, love going to motherland for breakfast for a cuppa Latte and mini quiches which are very good too. Staff is always friendly and happy!

The best avo, feta, hummus, egg, sprouts on toast breakfast, good coffee, all for about R100 with tip - big enough to take half home for lunch! Recommend

So this place was listed as one of the authentic coffee places to visit and I wanted to give it a shot. I tried the Ethiopian origin cappucino and loved the flavor. Of course the accompaniments was just as good!!!

Good coffee. Good service. This is a small location but has atmosphere. Free WiFi is available. There is couch seating, table seating as well as a long table with bar chairs. There is some outdoor seating too. Just 5 minutes walk from the Rosebank Gautrain station.

We are very unhappy with Motherland Coffee in Rosebank. Half their options on their menu were unavailable in the kitchen. Eventually when we received our food, ingredients were left out and the quality was not good at all. We were the only customers in the shop on a Monday and service was still so bad and staff were unpleasant and totally unhelpful. Cashiers had no intention of working.This is not a reflection of Motherland Coffee but rather a reflection of the Rosebank branch.

Life is far too short for bad coffee... thank you motherland for giving my day a good kick in the right direction 🙂

The coffee shops furnishing is very comfortable, staff is friendly. The coffee was unfortunately way to hot and it influences the coffee bean taste immensely. It tasted a little burned. Either the beans were roasted a little too intense or the milk was just burned.

Visited about an hour ago, there were 3 staff members by the counter, one of whom was extremely rude, unfortunately I dont recall her name, she was the taller of the 2 ladies. She kept rudely interrupting us during ordering to tell us to keep our hands off the display glass. The only reason why we didnt walk out was because the petite lady was very polite and apologized for her colleagues behavior. Please train this lady or hire someone with manners if you do not want to lose customers.(You may ask the staff about what transpired - here is our order : dictator, latte, caramel latte, frozen Chai, citrus drink)

The best service, cheerful people... relaxed atmosphere, safe. We had Two Tourists (love the name) and Brownies. And they make the worlds best.

Worst service ever and rude staff. Instead of serving our (set-in) order, the left it on cashier table till coffee got cold and frozen lemonade melt. Very insulting and race-based service. Last time and never recommend for decent people. Hope manager can read this message and teach the staff simple ethics and how to deal with customers. Only Rosebank branch that sucks. Even if other gave 5* I had this experience twice (unfortunately I am neither white nor black skinned). Feeling sorry for them since business will never grow when staff like Motherland Coffee Rosebank keep their unprofessional attitude and poor communication skills. I tend to tell people where to go to get good coffee but Motherland Rosebank will never be in any of my recommendation. Bye

We have visited often and the trend remains the same. They have phenomenal coffee and great staff. We have had to send back coffee in the past due to sour cream but they quickly replaced them. The coffee is great but the food is even better. The muffins are of the very best we have ever had and so are the cheescake, brownies and pretzels. I have a fear of them expanding and making the shop bigger, because I love the small and cozy feel. This place beats Starbucks hands down.

It is cosy and has an intimate feel. Not many people know about this coffee shop in the corner but the people that do are like a community. You make good connections and friendships at this coffee shop. Plus, the music is good.

They offer good well balanced African blends. If youre fussy they do sometimes scorch it by brewing with water that is just too hot for the subtle African beans. Otherwise great atmosphere and good friendly service.

Hands down my favorite stop on the way to the office. I literally have a budget line item for my morning coffee. Great staff - Lucky and Chris already have my order ready by the time I walk in. Avo on toast for a quick lunch is the clincher.

First visit. Flat white in a tallish cup (small size ordered) arrived looking like a latte - weak and milky. Asked for a double shot version. Was a tad too hot but tasted ok. Can tell the underlying coffee flavour was good but something with the extraction didnt do it for me. Nice ambience and easy seating. Worth another shot with a revisit.

One of the worst experiences I have ever had. That woman behind the counter is the rudest, I actually cant believe you have someone like that as the first face people have to deal with when entering your establishment. I asked if it were possible to have Nachos with the chicken salad, and her response was a noise like HmPH a snarky rude sound. Of course we left immediately. I will never step foot in your establishment again, and my boyfriend who buys from you daily will never again. Sis on you.

Baristas are so unfriendly and curtly, unless youre a female.. And theyre Wi-Fi is slow when theres more than two people connected. Starbucks and Seattle has a much better working/hustling atmosphere. I would definitely recommend going there instead!
