Shocking service and worst of all from a floor Manager!! There was NO one to weigh my veg so when i got to the teller the packing lady went to weigh the items, the manager then came didnt even greet me just told me he will ring up my transaction and save it for when the lady came back with veg, the teller helped another customer by the time the lady came back with my veg the manager told her to help the next customer which was totally unnecessary as the lady had come back with my veg, I told the manager please just help me now he ignored me and only after the next customer was done he scanned the slip and the teller carried on with my transaction. SO UNFAIR - also he did not even apologize for making me wait. Prince is his name and I WILL NOT step foot back in that store!!!! I suppose this is the difference when shopping at Checkers VS Woolworths who always make a plan! This all could have been avoided if there was someone to help weigh my items in the fruit/veg section.

Love the ready meals and they have the best milktart!

Constant rotting smell. I complained twice before and no improvement 2019 & 2021. Even the staff I spoke to complained about the smell.

Dont buy the meat its all rotten!

I stopped shopping here, on 2 occassions found items paid for missing from my packed groceries when I got home.

The rotisserie chickens are so overcooked and dry it is difficult to distinguish between chicken flesh and bones. This shop has taken a huge dive lately, not enough people at the tills, the deli section has a funny smell and there is very little variety of rolls in the bakery. The whole place is dirty and no-one around to ask anything.

Dirty and RUDE! I went in to buy 2 soft drinks and while waiting in the express queue a staff member pushed past me without saying excuse me. Then at the till another woman who was clearly not done shopping was pushed infront of me because her stuff was at the till. And then I was not greeted or offered a plastic bag, because the teller was having a fat conversion with some other staff member. This store still looks like checkers did 20 years ago and because it has not been revamped it is FILTHY! Stock and empty boxes were scattered on the floors and the shelves are brown. The perfect place to catch a disease.

Nice clean shop with good products. I visit this shop on nearly a daily basis and have recently found the staff at the checkout counters to be very unfriendly. On the last two visits the cashier did not even acknowledge my presence by greeting me, but carried on a conversation with another staff member. This has also happened with other people I know. I have now started visiting other shops in the vicinity and will be visiting Checkers less because of the way people are treated. Management will have to address this problem.

I find the service at this particular Checkers absolutely terrible. Especially at the Deli/cold meat / and bread counter. Sometimes you can stand waiting for 10 minutes just to be acknowledged. I never like going to this store and I wouldnt if it wasnt so convenient.

Becareful and on the lookout when paying at the tills. Cashiers and packers hide some of your items when packing your groceries..its happened on 3 occasions for me alone!!

Not sure what is going on in the store, it smells terrible inside especially near fresh meat section. Management must please investigate and do something about it.

I wasnt very happy shopping here. The shop smelled bad (think it could have been rotting food/meat). They didnt have what I wanted, which was a energy drink on special. I asked the staff and waited very long before she returned and told me they are out of stock. Doesnt make sense to put a out of stock product on special.The staff are very friendly, I think the management can improve with the hygiene in the shop, especially during this time with covid. I had to leave the shop because I couldnt stand the rotting smell any longer.

Was told by the security guard to leave my little girl of 5 years old outside by the entrance doors as during the lockdown their rules were only 1 family member allowed in the shop. Dont they realize how many children are stolen ? I even saw a father forced to leave his 18 month old toddler in a trolley by the entrance of the shop, they wont allow any small children inside with a parent while the parent goes into the shop. I do not go to Checkers anymore and neither does my family or friends. Absolutely ridiculous behavior from Checkers. June 2020.

Good variety, stocked, good experience.

Great store with great management, however their bread rolls are not to my liking and too small, so I dont buy bread rolls there anymore. Also their baked bread is placed unwrapped on tables where I have seen children touching all the breads on display. Other than the bread, a store I can truly recommend.

This store has gone down hill. We have always shopped here as it was convenient but as of late a visit to Rock Cottage Checkers usually means a second trip in the car yo another supermarket because Checkers dont have stock. If you looking for fresh produce then dont look here. The fruit and veg are often on their way out in terms of freshness or they do not have stock. Also avoid Checkers Rock Cottage during peak hours as they usually operate with two or three tills open only and have been told before it would be addressed but it hasnt. What would save this Checkers in my opinion is a urgent change in management and a shop overhaul.

Wow this place is going to the dogs. Especially the fruit and veg section. It is so conveniently close to my home that i will keep trying to bring Checkers attention to them. Sometimes the tomatoes have white fluffy mold on them. sometimes the peppers are old an wrinkly the day theyre packed on the shelves. Ive found bags and bags of moldy oranges. its disgusting. The staff are ridiculously rude!! Ask for help an you are looked at as if you are intruding on some special me-time. And if you do get helped, it is always via a let me call someone else route. How hard is it to just learn where everything is?? good grief!

Excellent shop, the butchery here is brilliant many cuts of meat, easy to find and brilliant quality. Butchers usually very accomodating with requests. Vegetable selection is fairly standard, prepared meals are also standard. Good shop with good variety.

Small nice centre. Love shopping at checkers cause its small and have everything that I need. Also their hours are perfect for me

This store is a joke!!! It stinks, the meat is always off. The staff are unhelpful and very disrespectful. They always have 2 or 3 tills open MAX!! this store needs an overhaul and is in urgent need of new management!!! It is a disgrace to the Checkers brand!! Do not go as you will just be disappointed. The fresh produce is rubbish, well it seems as though it was scooped out of a dumpster as it is always on its way out. This store is disgusting!!

Seriously lowering standards. Not the cleanest of stores, and staff seem friendly but incompetent-everything needs to be referred and they never have stock-it’s always “coming next time”. Within 2 mins are much better stores. The quality is much better elsewhere.

They allow people with full trollies to use the 10 items quick queue, and the cashiers do nothing!

The Rock Cottage Centre is a hot spot for criminals. Not safe for shoppers inside and outside the store. Criminal elements target shoppers inside store to pickpocket them by jostling, bumping and distracting then. No safe distance between shoppers when they are the till points. A till pointset up like Clicks, Dischem or Woolworths is much needed.

Got same good specials. Shop was not busy today. Plenty parking staff was pleasant.

Best to go off peak. They sell indian cooking friendly ingredients like Up-to-date potatoes (sometimes) jam tomatoes and dhania.

Its convenience is a plus. Has just about everything u need. Just dont keep all the brands. Has fresh fruit and veg and meat too. Parking is right outside the main entrance. Has a computicket at the door. So it makes booking concerts etc easy.

Always clean and organised. Love going to Checkers... their employees always friendly and helpful.

Always find the veg, stationary, household cleaning materials I need amongst other things and especially like the Money Market desk where I can purchase JPO and other tickets.

Parking is always a problem. The staff in the hot food section not the friendliest & sometimes struggle to follow your request. Also struggle to get your SASSA payments out of them, always some issue & instead of a quick in out it drags.

Pathetic Owners. Stingy and money hungry people. To under staff such a busy store is very poor service. The cleaner had to help me at the veggies stand and no packers at the tills. Wont go there again.

Im so disappointed in Checkers Rock Cottage, more so because its not the first time this has happended to me. I bought a packet of steak for stir-frying, only to find that the meat was rotten when I wanted to cook dinner. This is actually the third time Ive had a problem with the awfull quality of meat purchased at this specific Checkers. This is really not acceptable.

It has everything you need. But the bakery is really not to our liking and we would much rather support another grocery store that has better breads and pastries.

Staff really willing to help and search for a product if you cant find it on the shelf

Pathetic service...only 4 tills open...i wanted to pay by card, the teller pressed cash...they dont pay attention, i had to get cash to sort out - wife was waiting in line to buy cigarettes, the teller was more interested in flirting with the guy in the queue, she waited 15mins.

Out of 14 tills and at peak times there are currently 4 Tills open and the ques go all the way into the isles. A constant problem where it had been addressed with no improvement. Most shocking

I have had enough !Checkers will not see my business again.After numerous meetings over the past fee years about their staff sitting outside the back of Checkers centre and leaving there litter all over, Checkers big trucks coming through our residential area ripping up the tar, turning in the middle of the road . Unfillfilled promises by Checkers and the centre to upkeep the back of centre ,sewage leaks for days on end .Ive finally had enough !

Checkers have no social corporate responsibility. The centre they are operating from is disgusting. Trucks blocking roads and endangering vehicles trying to pass, trucks breaking the residential area roads, litter all over the back, staff sleeping and gambling in the sidewalks,sewerage running down the street. Suggest you have a look at the back if the shop you are buying your food from.
