Last week, to be more comfortable, I purchased Safairs most expensive ticket, what they call Fly Like the Boss or Business class.Today I had to change my flight to the last flight of the day. So, the change in fare was R1,300. Mind you, if I went online to purchase a new ticket it was +/- R1, 410.If I cancelled the ticket, Id get zero, otherwise I had to pay the fare adjustment R1, 300, or cancel, get zero refund and buy a new ticket.In both cases, a lose-lose proposition for me and a win-win for SA fair, as they got twice the money from me. What a racket, as we say in the USA!Any true carrier would not stiff their clients, especially if they buy the most expensive fare. At least Safair stayed true to their word and the middle seat was empty.Disappointed, because I fly them quire a bit.... Its time to rethink my options!The App sucks, by the way

Efficient service, up to the minute reminders and instructions via sms, online booking and change of flights etc a dream. conduct of personnel pre and in-flight professional and no nonsense yet still friendly; as it should be! best of all, they still manage to run a decent ship when the likes of saa and mango turn a lemon on their paying customers, fading into an ignominious sunset...

It was my first time flying with Safair.I do feel that they need to be more vigilant with passengers who bring along luggage that’s clearly not hand luggage.I sat in the front and I’m aware that I cannot stow it by my feet, so I waited for a hostess to place my handbag into the overhead compartment.I’m not gonna push other customers luggage to fit my bag in. So one asked me to put it up and I handed her my bag, she just looked at it. Lucky for her the head hostess saw this and kindly ask to take my bag and stow it away for me.All in all, it was a good, well priced trip.

I am very upset that my luggage which is brand new was badly damaged on arrival at our destination.Some basic respect for belongings entrusted to your airline would go a long way.We have used your services multiple times and we have had only great experiences at good rates until now.

Very poor experience flying from Johannesburg to Cape Town and once again from Cape Town to Johannesburg. I did not get seat allocation next to my husband after booking together for 2 passengers. No leg room. Terrible experience with no social distancing

They decided to close the flight earlier as I got to the desk although I was on time and denied me access. I had to buy a new ticket. Help line didnt answer and I had to search for their office that is hidden under stairs. Not one manager at the airport. The staff really is not here to help. Really disappointed. This airline needs competion and management.At airport we sit 3 apart but on the plane we sit 6 in a row. Edit: so I get seated next to a lady that weighs atleast 180, her arms was over my seat. Sweating onto me for 2 hours. Where was the social distance. If someone doesnt fit in 1 seat leave space!

It is so sad to see the reviews recently as Safair was the best efficient airline in S Africa. I have been flying since the day they started. The call centre is the worst in the world.Unfortunately I could not change the booking online as they do not allow it for my booking. 3 times I tried to change just the dates of the flight and I was held on listening to music for 30 to 40 minutes so I put the phone down as I was on my cell and told them that. Today I insisted on a supervisor and they tried so hard not to put me through. At last I got the booking changed. The staff at the call centre are useless.

Booked a flight to Cape Town. A week or so prior they cancelled the flight and shifted to a late night flight not going to work. We then moved the booking to a day earlier with the help of the call centre as we had trouble transferring the amount paid for a blocked seat.. Lo and behold this flight was also cancelled and the booking moved again to a late night flight. We called to cancel and arrange a refund which was a slow process. They eventually agreed the refund but nearly 2 months later no sign of a refund. Follow ups via the whatsapp number have been fruitless. The staff refuse to call their own refunds office to resolve. Very poor.UPDATE. They finally emailed a voucher for R750 when we paid over R2000 for a premium ticket and a blocked seat. A voucher which we refused and they agreed a cash refund. Such dishonesty and lack of integrity.

We had a flight today that departed at 14:50 21/02/2021 on flight FA-271 and I was a bit concerned about the safety of the aircraft. We were seated at 16 E & F on the flight and the row right behind us the emergency exit door cover kept falling off during the flight and it was pretty scary. Then looking over on the same row at the other emergency exit in the same row as us, the emergency exit light had fallen off. My concern is if those wires create a short due to the wires touching and a fire breaks out, who is gonna be held responsible.... With so many people in a aircraft its scary to these these things. Im very sceptical about how your planes are serviced.

Worst airline in SA! They cancelled our flight after weve already checked in. Than, after selecting another flight for the next day, they moved that flight on with two hours! This completely ruined our travel plans and their useless website didnt allow us to pre-select the seats which we paid for originally. Do yourself a favour and use another airline... I definitely wont EVER fly with Safair again.

I am South African and a frequent traveller, I have experience in other local and international domestic airlines. FlySafair used to impress me. Now I will recommend Kulula, I never once had issue with them.But this suitcase below, is a year old and has travelled across 15 countries and done 100s of hours of travel, but it could not survive a 2hr flight with Flysafair. When I went to complain to the baggage desk, they told me they dont cover wheels because they protrude from the bag, so despite rendering my bag useless with their carelessness, its now my problem, and theyll recommend a place for me to get it fixed, at my cost. Let it be known, this is not the first time Ive had a baggage problem with FlySafair.Flysafair also operates under the illusion of being a low cost airline, by making you pay separately to put your luggage in the cargo hold, this additional fee can make the overall flight pricier, than other domestic carriers. Yet despite paying this additional fee, they cant make sure my baggage doesnt break??? Or offer repair?? Ive had this issue in the past with British Airways, no question about how my handle broke, they reimbursed me immediately... but just a heads up, with FlySafair, a handle also counts as a protruding object. They may cover your bag being crushed by a dinosaur, but not the things that actually break.Also this policy as mentioned above assures travellers, especially tourists, have no space in the overhead carriers for their hand luggage, because all the passengers dont want to pay the additional fee, and therefore try fit bags that clearly dont meet the weight and size requirement (this needs to be more regulated, it isnt) and take up all the space, and so you have backpacks stashed on your laps or the floor or the staff move your hand luggage to a different location, and as a result you have to be the last person getting off the plane, to get your bag.I am really disappointed in the service I received from this airline.Springbok sponsorship, does not guarantee a good quality flight or service and Im going to make sure everyone knows.

Fly Safair - Running the monopoly in SA. Walking towards the counter, already checked in an hour before the flight, I have a medical condition Ankylosing SpondyloArthritis meaning I cannot stand for very long periods of time and stayed seated while the able passengers stood in the queue for over 20 min to board. Not wanting to be the one that holds up the flight and only with a a handbag, I walked toward the counter as I could not run because of AS. The Safair staff member then promptly closed the door, to tell me Im late his face implying that I should have run, we explained that I have a medical condition and therefore could not run. The 20 m gap, People were still boarding the plane, we begged him to allow us que, his comment to me was, mam you dont look sick. Our seats were cancelled. They said Goodluck to you, come back in the morning. With no place to stay in Durban and no transport, I walked a few more meters and my back was in so much pain, that I asked for a wheelchair, do I have any rights?

CT to ORT. 13/10 @ 18h25.Passengers in Seat 31E and 32E were talking for more than an hour without masks... absolutely no oversight from cabin staff.Passenger in Seat 31E was literally sitting on her knees looking backwards.After an hour I reported it to Cabin Staff that addressed the issue. .On landing... when the lights were switched off, they took their masks off and just kept on talking....I will formally report this to SaFair and Civil Aviation..People like this should be banned from flying and flight staff that is totally absent for two hours on a flight under these conditions should rather get themselves another job.

Bad experience for a first time flyer,di didnt get all my luggages on the day of travel however the other luggage was delivered on the next day at the hotel with missing things,incl including watch, cellphone, headphones,when I told the guy who opened the luggage case about the missing items,his response was he was sorry and we shouldnt keep such things in a laggage bag. Why are we not informed from the receiving team that they are working with thieves who search our luggages .

Had a great flight. It would have been nice if they would have at least given us a bag a peanuts or pretzels.Otherwise, the price was good, and the check-in process was smooth. They gave me complimentary priority boarding which was nice. The seats were comfortable, though small.

Poor Poor service!!! I was done in with a company I did a booking through and phone to cancel and change the incorrect booking. The response I got was that I would not be able to cancel but will be able to change the flights dates. I had to wait for the payment to reflect. When I phoned in they told me the payment was reflecting however I could not change the dates now that it is paid. I have this on e-mail from their team leader:We would not be able to assist with any changes on this booking.Yes when the agent was speaking to you, she mentioned in response for her to cancel the flight that we do not cancel tickets and only make changes.How is this my fault!!!!!!!

I cannot understand the harshly negative reviews listed here. Ive flown with Safair numerous times, since they opened for passengers, and have never had a problem. No baggage loss or pilfering, no serious delays. Once, a flight was delayed by 10 minutes because of a medical emergency, but this was communicated and handled calmly and professionally, and nobody was upset.I do like the principle of only paying for check-in luggage if you actually carry some, as I often travel with hand luggage only.Ive seen their flight attendants assert their authority over rowdy passengers without any fuss, and Ive never, ever, had any attitude problems.In terms of pricing, Safair is always my first port of call.

Worst check-in experience so far. Poor group handling. I have 70 pax and it takes ages to get them through. They even make the guests sign on their ticket to prove that they have checked that their details are correct.Add to that the fact that they broke into my luggage during my last trip and you will understand the poor rating!.

I had the worst experience ever and will never use this airline again, nor will I suggest the airline to anyone. I paid a heavy amount for my flight only to get told I have to pay for a cold drink on the flight at a ridiculous amount to say the least. The landing was shocking due to the pilot being as young as me. The staff were rude and cocky, I couldn’t get off that plane as quick as I would of liked at the end of the flight. NEVER AGAIN

Flew with SafAir to Port Elizabeth. They had a medical emergency on board with a passenger that I assisted them with as I am a medic (1st career).After collecting my baggage I found it had been pilfered. I filed out a claim and after 4 weeks I contacted them only to find they would pay only 20% of what it cost me to replace the items. I was told to read the small print.As a commercial pilot too (2nd career), I felt the best way to deal with this was to let everyone know about it. An unhappy pilot is far worse for your reputation than an unhappy regular traveler as we are asked by many people who we would recommend.BTW, it was a pleasure assisting your passenger with the medical emergency.

Bad customer service. They canceled the flight due to covid and the options offered for the refund were either a vaucher or a cash refund with a 45% deduction, on the piece paid, incredible considering that they canceled the flight ... we asked for a refund in June and to date we have not received anything yet. After having asked us, at the end of August, for the details for the reimbursement, which they should already have, and despite many reminders, to date we have no longer received replies to the numerous emails sent or refunds.Unacceptable!
