Very bad food, very bad service. Got sick from the long-flight breakfast so I had to check in to the clinic at the Airport in Johannesburg with vomiting and diarrhea. Missed my flight to Capetown. SSA cancelled all my tickets and left me stranded and without budget here in South Africa. They earn double on that missbehaviour and false services, refused to rebook my flight even though I showed them all the papers about treatment & diagnosis from the clinic. „Because I was not brought to hospital“ I have to organize another 12.000 Rand just to see my family and home again. What a waste to fly with South African Airways. Never ever again.

Probably one of the worst boarding processes. Disorganized. No notices to tell you why the flight is delayed.
The story of flight SA 076, O R Tambo to Windhoek, 14 Nov 2019: It started all well; friendly lady at check-in counter, quick service at security and also customs. After a few cappuccinos, we’re off to the boarding gate as printed on the boarding pass: A22. Didn’t take long for the gate to be changed to A28 which was still okay because it’s close to each other. The staff arrived at A28 and started getting ready. I then noticed on one of the screens that the gate changed once again, this time to A18. I pointed it out to the staff and they said it’s a mistake, don’t worry. About five minutes later they said it’s no mistake, it is now definitely gate A18. So off we went to gate A18 which felt like it was 5 kms away. By the way, by this time we were about 15 minutes past boarding time. So the passengers walked as quickly as possible to A18. When we eventually arrived there, there was no staff. It was about 10 minutes after the passengers arrived at A18, that the same staff who were at A28 arrived. Eventually we boarded. Obviously by then we were already late for the scheduled time of departure. And there we sat and sat on the plane, no movement. We noticed a few guys with yellow jackets going in and out of the plane. Eventually the captain announced there is some technical glitch and the engineers are attending to it. I must say, hearing that makes passengers quite nervous ...After a long time, the doors closed (almost an hour late) and we were ready to go, or so we thought ...Another announcement from the captain: the jet bridge (I think that’s what it’s called) is “stuck” to the plane and doesn’t want to retract. The already nervous passengers just started laughing! Fortunately this didn’t take long to fix. There’s more but I’ll leave it for another day.A few positives: while the take-off was rough to scary (due to weather conditions), the landing in Windhoek was superb - well done to the crew. Also, the air hostess in our section was highly professional and friendly (I took note of her name, Jolene Lewis).Despite the glitches, I still prefer SAA 😉
To all people just be aware that South African airways is not just an airline, its an essential part of this country South Africa so I rate it 4 stars for excellent services but just be aware for non-excellence
Pathetic flight service never again late no service on board screw you guys no value for money not even worth 1star
Brazil to Joburg ! Great flight! Excellent service with a smile !! Thank you
Bad management and customer service. There is no-one that takes ownership of anything that happens.
