The service in this place was terrible. The staff seem to be overworked or something. Our waiter came out and couldnt greet us and she explained it was because she was tired and was upset because she was called out of lunch to serve us. Anyway. Another waiter dropped glasses on the floor. Her comment was that she was tired. The floor was left like that throughout our stay. I wouldnt go there. It wasnt even full so I dont get why they have staffing issues.

Dont even deserve 1 star!We live approximately 2 hours drive from East London and decided to have a nice meal before we headed back home. Unfortunately we decided on Ocean Basket Beacon Bay.My family ordered sushi for starters and we ordered a main course each. We were told the sushi would be delayed as there were many sushi orders and we requested the main meals to be served as soon as they were ready. The sushi arrived about 40 minutes later. The main courses took more than an hour. My wife and sons order was wrong and my food was cold. I requested that the order be corrected and that my food be reheated. My food came back about 5 min later and my food was still cold. Not lukewarm, cold cold. I also requested that my wife and sons order be rectified and refill of drinks for the table, which never arrived.After another 10 minutes of waiting I requested that the manager cancel our orders and requested a bill for the food we ate as well as take away boxes for the food. When the bill came, it too was in correct as we were charged for the food which was sent back/cancelled and the drinks refills that we didnt receive. I also had to request the take away boxes at least 3 times.I felt the waitress was very unprofessional, calling me lovey in front of my wife and family.During our time at the restaurant, another family that arrived shortly after us complained that they had to wait 45 minutes for their drinks orders. They promptly paid for their drinks and left. Another family left soon after, after not being attended to since being seated.We left feeling upset and I drove the 2 hours home on an empty stomach.I would not recommend this establishment for their service or food.

It is a special chainFish is good as seafood.And many different choices.Service should be improved a lot. There is no organization as no knowledge about how to satisfy the customers.I would update my review, because Ive been there again, and the feeling has been much better, maybe because that day was less crowd, i can say the service is improved enough, we were the last customers, and they made us feel important. this mean, everywhere there could be a difficult day, but when people work with passion, good results, come .thank you . :)

Absolutely Horrible. Air-conditioning doesnt work and terribly uncomfortable to sit there and try to have a meal and a conversation while youre dying of the heat. And its not even summer yet. The food and service is great, but I definitely wont recommend going there especially during the day. Its just too hot inside.

I just bought Famous Fish & Chips and Platter for 1 (both with rice and chips); Rice was totally off. Disgusting.

Lovely service,space is tight due to adhering to cover 19regulation,but its worth the wait.,Id give it 5 starts if it werent for the manager moaning for us to leave 15minutes after the shop closed whilst we were still trying to finish our wine

Service has been shocking at this branch. We had an experience about 12 months ago as well and sDecided to give it a try again.Welcome is warm and friendly.But the service after that is not good. I ordered a fish and calamari combo which was supposed to be hake with grilled calamari tubes. It contained calamari heads.My wife ordered a platter with a side salad.When we were done eating the salad still had not arrived. Then it was offered still even as a take away. But late isnt it?We went there around 12 months ago. Food orders took forever and even then it was not correct. Tables ordering after ours were served and still ours did not arrive.It took ages to get the waiter back and then a different waiter took over.It was a special family event ruined by bad service and incorrect ordering.

Im only giving them a one star because I got a meal that evening, but otherwise it was a horrible experience especially with the manager... I truly am surprised this place is still running. The cutlery? Grimy. The staff? Cold. The ambience? Dead. But anyways, this wasnt what we (my family) expected from such a loved franchise, they didnt even baste the fish in the lemon butter Ocean Basket is known and loved for! Please, for the sake of this business, do better!

The service was excellent, the same food is amazing especially the platter when you want to share...the only thing that I wasnt happy about was the airconditoning system which doesnt work properly so it can get really hot inside.

Very bad service, while food is very good, but needs very much patience until it is served. With the bad service they have, dont be surprised if they ask you to pay tips.

Service was slow even though it wasnt that busy. Food was not too bad, hence the 2 stars.

I always buy at the vincent ob, but got there and it was closed. So i thought maybe i should try the beacon bay one, im sure they wont disappoint me again. Boy was i wrong, the rice was soggy, chips burnt, prawns tasteless. Waited 30 mins(yep for prawn and f mussel combo) got home and my food my cold.

Disappointed! I do understand that you ran out of gas and that my food arrived around 15 minutes after the others at my table had finished eating, but I dont understand why it was dry. What made it worse is that the waiter never returned after bringing the food to enquire and so I could not even get another drink to wash it down with. I refuse to have to summons a waiter when the place is empty. You seriously need waiter training. When the person placed my food on the table, she accidentally knocked the serviettes onto the floor. She bent down, gathered them up, and literally dumped them into the used basket on the table. So, nothing to wash down the dry food and nothing to wipe my mouth with. All round a very disappointing visit indeed.

Guys your restaurant is perfectly located and the layout is excellent but PLEASE work on improving your service.This is our best spot after church but you always disappoint us.If its not the stale rolls, the fish is fried instead of being grilled.And the waiting time is unbearable. We look forward to an improvement

It is now 17:45 and was still told to wait as our Takeaway Order is not yet done..What a Joke, Ive eaten everywhere around East London and this is the Worst Experience Ive ever endured..Do you have professional cooks? or what exactly is the Problem?Why would there be a Whole Hour delay, Infact I am not even hungry..I have basically Donated R325 to you guys for this platter and it will probably end up in the Bin..Very Disappointed!

Good service food good

Plates were not clean (same thing had happened when we last visited) and the food was substandard. Rice was soggy and not appealing and service is very slow. Sorry not the experienced Im used to having been to different OBs nationwide

First time eating out after Covid-19 restrictions were lifted and our first choice was OB Beacon Bay. We were not disappointed. Great service and amazing food.

This was by far the worst experience of my life, drinks late, food oh my goodness we ordered a starter but got mains first, chips uncooked, fish had no character, white bait & calamari swimming in not so fresh oil, then we got our sushi which was warm, disgusting & falling apart which took forever to come probably an hour cause our wine bottle was almost done. I then politely asked waiter what happened & he told me management had changed. This is by far the worst experience I never thought anything would beat my seafood experience after Cremone in PSJ

Good food with best service

On Saturday 24 October 2020 my sister and I decided to have lunch at Ocean basket. We arrived stood waiting for a bit no one attempted to attend to us to sanitizer or take our temperature. So we went and did it ourselves, there after we waited again to be seated once again no one attended to us we then we to get our own menus which where dirty it was by then my sister wanted to leave I however pleaded her to stay as I was really in the mood for some seafood. We found cleaner menus and seated ourselves 2 staff members made eye contact and briskly walked away. We waited a while then eventually walked out. And still no one attended to acknowledge us at all. The service or should I say no service was disgusting.

Unfortunately as beautiful as this Ocean Basket is, it was uncomfortably hot, so much so that our wine was warm & my second drink was Sparkling Water rather than warm wine. The waitress asked me what I wanted to drink but neglected to ask my husband. Then the platter for 4 had no lemon on it for the seafood. After the dishes were cleared out the waitress took so long to come back to the table that I just gave up on ordering my Baklava Cheesecake. Disappointed!

Greeted by happy faces and shown to our table. They offered and brought a chair for our son to sit in (even though we had his pram) our drinks came quickly and our food even quicker and was by far delicious. We did arrive soon after they opened but will definitely go back again

Ordered a take away for supper, was not so impressed with the food. Had bits of rice in one of the dishes (we did not order anything with rice). Ordered a berry cheesecake, I got a plain and very blend cheesecake. Venue looks great, just wish the quality of food would improve.

Poor, my first and last visit.I ordered a mezze platter, terrible.The food was not freshly prepared, the vegetables on the platter were dry / freezer burn. The squid heads and the calamari awful...I arrive after my guest ...ordered a drink on arrival it arrived with the platter, 3 tables in the establishment. The mangeress was friendly, pitty the food did not match .Never to return.

Had a weekend lunch in Ocean Basket in Beacon Bay Crossing, the place is clean and the view is great including the ambience itself. The food is great and didnt take too long to be served. The price is mid to upper level probably due to its location and the higher cost of seafood in particular. All in all the experience is good but there is still a lot of room for improvement

Ocean basket never disappoint

My boyfriend and I had an amazing experience regarding the service, food and cleanliness at Ocean Basket on Sunday evening .... the manager was on top of his game the entire evening and we really felt welcomed...I’d recommend this Ocean Basket to anybody anytime

Their food is tasty, well plated and good value for money. The staff are polite, friendly and efficient. The large,open plan arrangement provides a convivial, relaxed atmosphere.

Been there 3 times since they opened. 3 visits of great service, great food and relaxing decor. 3 way calamari platter is my absolute favourite seafood meal!

Short staff creeps in bad service but the food was awesome and company was excellent.

Really bad service as well as bad sushi

Got there as the power went off they were able to offer us a cocktail and a quick starter. And then told to rush as there would be no lights or anything besides candles in a hour. So we did not order mains. Dont like to be rushed for a expensive meal.

Food superb, waiters and staff all attentive. Because of loadshedding our waiter suggested that we order the food instead of drinks first. So that we wouldnt be caught in the dark! Pun intended. A good way to enjoy a casual 30th anniversary lunch.

The service was not of the ocean basket in used to, the food wasnt nice at all. The hake was burnt the prawns were tasting like the grill wasnt cleaned up or something. The atmosphere was beautiful, staff was very friendly!!

Ocean Basket is always a pleasure. Now we have a new OB at the Crossing as well as a new menu. All round was a very pleasant meal.
