The Food and service was great. We Sat out in the garden area. Such friendly people and peaceful atmosphere. The garden surrounding restaurant is beautifully kept with such amazing colours of the flowers. Ive also been to the little Zoo before and loved the huge old tortoises 🐢 .

Food rating 4/10Price of main meals over priced and quality of eg White chocolate and main meals where not up to my standard , pie had more pastry than chicken and or gravy for R112 is a rip off and kids meals ie strips and chips is 3 very small pieces of chicken strip and french fries for R62 another rip off and most important the avocado and prawn open sandwich for R115 is made up of small extremely hard bread with mostly spread avocado with 3 pieces of prawns which in fact is a shrimp ( really disappointed with this sandwich -would recommend the public never to buy this.)great family atmosphere and tables well spaced. 10/10Friendly service. 10/10clean and safe jungle gym and kids activities with carers keeping an eye on kids. 10/10We felt very safe and enjoyed our time there. 10/10Great family spot 10/10

Breakfast is not the cheapest and not presented but it was filling. The waiter was polite but he did not remember who ordered what which is disappointing. Venue is nice and relaxing.

The natural ambience of this garden restaurant is unmatched. While the service can be slow, it gives you time to look around and spot birds and monkeys in the trees. (Watch out for monkeys keen on your sugar sachets!) I ordered a milkshake and chicken strips and chips, which comes with a barbeque dipping sauce. The strips are thick and tender, and the light meal was enough for me as a small eater. The menu has a variety of food -- the burgers and curries are popular, as are the scones. Parking is readily available on the street outside. Theres a play area for kids which was staffed with child minders when we were there on a Saturday, and the kids could make their own Christmas cards. If you have time afterwards, have a stroll through the beautiful garden. Definitely worth a visit, especially if you have visitors from out of town.

Lovely setting. Clean, tables indoors, verandah and outdoor patio all well spaced apart. Service excellent. Friendly staff. Good food at good prices. All in all, a real treat to be there. I will go again soon

Extremely disappointed by the snail-pace service. Also, lots of flies. The waiter walked away before my table finished ordering and we couldnt get his attention. Once we did, everything we ordered took long. We had more attention from flies than staff actually.My brother ordered rice instead of fries as a side and mentioned it twice to two waiters yet still got fries.We ordered ice cream and it took over 30 minutes to arrive. Perhaps they had to use their own ice cream maker and wait for the mixture to freeze...?I also ordered hot water with lemon and honey to combat terrible heartburn from the salad dressing. The water took 40 minutes to arrive. I am sure a kettle only takes three minutes max to boil.Ice cream arrived with spoons squashed into the ice cream, so hands get dirty when eating. Bar one sauce was minimal and not tasty at all.However! The main course food was absolutely delicious. Curries are rather spicy and the chefs salad is scrumptious. Despite poor service and a feast of flies, we did enjoy a wonderfully delicious meal!

I hosted a family get together of about 25 people at BlueZoo on Sunday morning (08.11) and I must say that I was surprisingly impressed. Nikki had everything organized prior to our arrival. Our Waitress was fantastic and the food was delicious. The kids had a great time too playing on the jungle gym and doing sand art. The atmosphere was so relaxed and enjoyable. I would highly recommend BlueZoo to anyone having a family get together for either breakfast or lunch. 5 Stars well deserved from me.

Beautiful garden setting like youre in an old English period movie. Food was good, great value for money & service was average. Family friendly with a play area not to mention the park & zoo.

Fantastic cafe for families. Located inside of Mitchell Park, with plenty of street parking outside. Full menu and bar available, with some very lovely options. Fruit smoothies, burgers, curry, and all kinds of breakfast items. Also an inexpensive kids menu. Childminders on staff all the time! (Please tip) The play area is fantastic with slides, ladders, ropes, climbing wall for older kids, play house, and more. Also crayons and play dough available. A great morning or afternoon outing

A lovely place to relax and work. Had some trouble though powering up my laptop but staff assisted, thanks. I had a sneaky feeling that I really should close my laptop and simply enjoy the garden, but then duty called! Meals decent...and I would like some rocket in my rocket and halloumi wrap!Well situated in Mitchells Park with adequate parking and lots of seating both in and outside.

Had an omelette for breakfast. Has to be the worst Ive ever eaten out. It was like rubber and seemed to have baking powder added to try and fluff up. Pity, coz the restaurant is in a pretty setting.

We havent visited the Park or Restaurant in years and it really was nice to see how lovely it still is. We had Sunday breakfast, which is served all day, under the trees while a Pianist played at the time we were there. There is a good variety of breakfasts available which were well presented. They also offer a choice of 2 Sunday lunches besides other items on the menu. Recommended.

Very pleasant location in well maintained municipal garden.Scones with jam and cream are my favourite. Service is quite good and friendly.

Food was fresh and wholesome with generous portions.Staff are very friendly and accommodating.The childrens play area is a well kept and safe environment. The clown present was very entertaining and kept the kids busy while we enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant and crisp air around us!

The nicest place, so cozy and relaxing. And there is one waiter that knows what happened every day in the past. I can talk with him for hours, a really nice guy. And there is one guy playing on the piano, beautiful. You have to go there.

One star for pleasant service and the views but it is a restaurant so the food is important and deserves no more stars. This was my first time having to leave a plate unfinished due to taste not fullness.I ordered a spinach and feta crepe and a fresh juice. The crepe was a spinach creamy mess with no flavor, just salt and margarine. The tomato and basil sauce was pure salt as well and didnt go well with the crepe.My partner got eggs, bacon and toast. He was ok with it but the toast was full of margarine and seemed to be put on some kind of sandwich maker not a toaster.The waiter was perfect and nice. No complaints about the service.

The Blue Zoo Restaurant is a fantastic local lunch spot that I often take my guests to as a tour guide.The restaurant serves a variety of dishes including local favorites such as the Durban curry. They also serve the old English staple, tea with jam and scones. The food is all good with great choices.The service is great, its unobtrusive and mostly efficient. Just remember that in Durban things runa little slower than elsewhere.The scenery is great! The restaurant is at the top of the Mitchel Park with a small animal zoo nearby. Beautiful fig trees provide shade and if youre lucky. Vervet Monkey do visit.

My cousin had her bridal shower there and the wait stuff and service were great. But the food was terrible, I had the basil pesto and chicken pasta. I was expecting linguine but the pasta served was pene. The pesto was split resulting in a very oily dish, the chicken was dry and over cooked, there was way too much pesto and the dish just had no taste, no matter how much salt I added. I am a chef by profession and was just so shocked at the meal I had received .

We met family for a 2pm light lunch. The setting is great for kids - large open grass park, jungle gym and sand art. The food was very average and the stocky gent who served us was lethargic and seemed disinterested in life so requests for a new drink were followed by VERY long delays. Id give the place another chance - if only for how well it is set up for kids.

Hmmm.. a hard one, resturant has a lovely outlook. Menu items are a bit pricey. Waitress was friendly but food took an age to arrive. They were out of stock of hallumi cheese for my mothers order, waited over 20 mins for the bill after we had asked for it and eventually went in search of it ourselves. There was only 4 tables occupied in the resturant. Food was well presented, fresh but bland in flavor.

Custoner service delivery was pathethic unprofessional and staff line this pyt a stigma on business. Thank god there are other restuarants that are warm and welcoming in the vicinity. meals are overpriced and presentation is deappertising. Not highly recommend able
