Tried out the #Olive&OilDateNight with the love of my life.It was wonderful. The staff were friendly, the food was divine. Our waiter was always calm and well poised.Food was delicious. And overall wonderful night was had.Recommend trying it out.

Totally loved the service. The food is amazing and reasonably priced although the menu is a bit limited. Great for a date with the bae or girls catch up session. This will be your fave spot! Overall experience was great 👍

Beautiful, well presented restaurant. Friendly staff who knows their menu very well and recommends on what to order. Loved their kingklip with mash and also some red tail fish with grilled veggies. However was not impressed with their cream Brule dessert, was not set, was rushed but the presentation was good.

We celebrated our 20th Wedding Anniversary on the 9 September 2021....and had the most amazing experience..the food was exceptional! ...Linda was on point ....Thank you guys 😉

Supper was excellent, our waitress Linda was outstanding. The only small issue was that the food took a little long to come out. But a lovely evening all round!

We made a reservation for 18.30 pm...food was ordered almost immediately...at 20.25pm we stil never got our meal...starters and drinks was served...it was my wifes birthday and it was a table of 10 people...very dissapointed with that service..food was great tho but we had like half hour to eat because of curfew times

Great Italian flavors, great food and awesome ambience

What a treat. This fancy, tiny little place with great staff and an assorted menu in the heart of umhlanga. The food was absolutely amazing. Not much of a view but you are so caught up in the food that the view doesnt matter. They have outside and inside seating but the deck is always a treat. A bit on the pricey side so not for those on a budget but a great place to treat yourself.

We had a romantic dinner here back in 2008, and then last night again....Service is great, food is breathtaking, and there are very few restaurants in the Umhlanga area that gets close to O&O!!!Their steaks are phenomenal, as are their seafood... last night I tried their lamb chops, and it was absolutely amazing!Great wine selection as well - and parking is extremely easy! Go treat yourself, you deserve this one! Prices are mid-range - in my opinion they offer extremely good value for money!

14:02:2021 The staff graciously accommodated us (3 couples) at the last minute, literally on the day within 10 minutes of calling for availability. The atmosphere, service and food was amazing. The staff was all smiles and so friendly. My only critique would be, the air-conditioning wasnt sufficient for an evening as hot as yesterday. Overall though, amazing evening.

Food was great, waiter serving us was professional and made sure we were comfortable. We visited during loadshedding and their backup generator was giving off fumes that either came through the air-conditioning or the open doors and this made it difficult to eat with fumes all around you. Even the drinks didnt compensate for that and we decided to move to the outside. A lot better but the smell of the fumes seem to have followed us, a lot lighter but still not ideal for consuming food. Might be a good idea for management to consider closing during loadshedding than having unhappy customers.

The vibe is really relaxing and the music is great, but the food was dry, tasteless, and burnt. I really had regrets about the food.

So disappointed, dont know what has happened to that place, it used to be upmarket Sea food restaurant, now its just cheap nonsense food and stuff that does not care, I ve been a loyal client of that place for 10 years, every time I am in Durban Id visit them and today I brought friends and family there .No one was at the entrance, no one attended us untill I complained, brought us some dodgy pdf menus with a selection of fish and chips food , we were so disappointed we got up and left ,went to the place up the road where we had amazing experience and delicious food.Disgusting experience, I was so embarrassed I ve brought people there and best one, when I asked waiter what has happened to that place,he said Well, its covid ,Business is slow this no excuse, cant serve to clients - open fish and chips place, somehow other places serve amazing food and care about clients!

This used to be a great spot. Not so this time. Very average food. The grilled sole was the worst I have had in years and would not recommend it. Poor value for the price. Neither of us really enjoyed our meals. Service was also average. There are much better places close by - pick another.

I returned to Durban on holiday and of course had to try out Olive & Oil again, in Umhlanga after their revamp which has included new dishes on their menu. We can see how popular the restaurant is, on a week day many of all ages are dining for lunch enjoying the food.We were greeted upon arrival in an exceptionally friendly & professional manner. I noticed the revamp immediately with a NEW private dining area for functions, the addition of a cellar and a kids play area at the back with food all, PlayStation and toys. (Kids eat free on Sundays)On the balcony there was a birthday and free wine (contact the restaurant for more information on group bookings and the freebie as you need to subscribe to the database)Let’s get to the food; I rarely give a place five stars...A bowl of starter olives were placed on the table - some of the most delicious olives we’ve had and this was just the start.The waiter was exceptionally knowledgeable with regards to the menu, the favorites and the most popular dishes.For drinks we decided to have the two most popular gin cocktails paired with the two most popular starters!For all the gin lovers out there: my personal favorite was the Musgrave gin (fruity flavor)Or the Cruxland gin cocktail (a more floral taste)Recommendations:Creamy herb & Garlic prawns (mature flavors)Phyllo pastry parcel of Camembert (also matured)The manager even caught me licking the bowl!They have TOTALLY UNIQUE dishes - 2 I noted was the prawn starter dish and the Tuscan chicken (a local favorite)For those who like variety the seafood platter (with chips, rice or cinnamon veg) the MUSSELS did it for me in the creamy sauce(Cheese is a commonality amongst all their dishes and they are perfection when it comes to sauces)My guest thought the STEAK was cooked to perfection and the Dijon sauce DELICIOUSThe Creme Brûlée is definitely up there with my favorite dessertsI am delighted to report that the menu caters incredibly well for vegetarians and pescatarians.The atmosphere: relaxed and comfortableService: well presented, eloquent waiter & the nicest manager, PappyI’d highly recommend this restaurant to tourists and locals and is quickly becoming my favorite!

Visiting the Umhlanga outlet of this franchise is like visiting grandmas house. The decor is dated, the food is good, but familiar. If you enjoy the food the first time it will be the same enjoyable experience the second time, just dont expect to be surprised, grandmas not changing the recipe or the decor.

Varied menu at reasonable restaurant prices. Steak meat needs upgrading.

Absolutely divine food and service is unmatched

Had a 2 course meal and drink on the 26th Feb which was good. Went back there on 1st March to have a similar lunch from the special menu but this time was very disappointed. Could not get a sugar free tonic water for the gin. Chicken was totally overcooked and and found a food label on the green pepper. Have left numerous messages for the owner to contact us. Will use alternative resturants in future.
