Been sitting here for just over an hour ..... didnt realize fish takes that long to prepare!!! Really pathetic service. The poor waitress serving us seems to have the entire restaurant to see to. I cant see anyone else helping her! Unfortunate first time here .... fortunately, NEVER to return!

The food is always good and reasonably priced. My husband and I often share a platter, the seafood is cooked perfectly and the lemon butter sauce they serve is delicious! The staff are very responsible with regards to their Covid protocols, practicing social distancing and sanitizing regularly. As we all try to stay safe and stay home, I recommend getting a take away from them, they deliver very responsibly.

Awesome, well priced menu. Friendly staff and management. The owners are always there attending to customers.The new venue is great and really works for either an evening out with the family or a dinner for two. We strongly recommend their sushi and seafood platters..

I phoned my order in for collection. I was told to wait 20 minutes to collect. With Covid-19 the restaurant wasnt that busy. I waited all together about an hour for my food. Came home to find burnt fish and dried out chips. Ice cold prawns. You need to up your service as most restaurants are in financial crisis because of Covid-19 and I will support those who are willing to supply quality food with service

First visit to the relocated Ocean Basket. The food was good as always, but the service was poor. Our server seemed very un-interested, and took his sweet time when we asked for something.

Evening was spoilt by the load music from Tiago’s next door. We asked if it could be turned down a little without any success.

After many wonderful experiences at the ocean basket. I have found that after a meal. To be asked to pay the tip in cash. For bus fares is a bit irritating.

Lovely place. Venue is done up really nicely and in all honesty its one of my favorite branches from the franchise. Food is always really good. Staff are very friendly. However this time they got quite busy and unfortunately messed up our very simple order. I would still very much recommend them as Im sure this was only a once off issue.

The service and food was great. However Ocean Basket has become a bit too corporatised and the food is standard fare rather than exceptional.

We had grilled fish and chips with salad. It was absolutely delicious.

We went to celebrate their birthday (Ocean Basket) and there was a line outside the door. The staff were amazing, the food quality was amazing. The BIG event shows that despite having a CRAZY BUSY night, they kept their food quality and service. Well done guys. we will be back!

Went in with my daughters to have lunch. Was not happy with our meals. We ordered prawns. Could not shell the prawns. It was over cooked thus causing the shell to get stuck on the flesh. As for our waiter. Wasnt the best service. He forgot to bring our salad and could not care less. Wen the manager came to us. We made that known. But nothing was done about it. Left unhappy from there.

Seafood platter for 2 is really good and worth every cent.

My partner and I dined last week. The correct social distancing measures were in place and our tables, cutlery and condiments were sanitiser. Our waiter was attentive and the food was delicious.

Amazing food with great service. Reasonably priced - especially corkage fees that were low. They especially brought ice cream for the birthday boy and a plate to throw on the floor. Great experience.

I ordered online today..I ordered prawns.. I was told to order 2 sides..I ordered half chips and rice as well as veg...we did not receive the half chips and rice.. ridiculous as its what I paid for

Worst place ever . I have pics to support my one star rating . I wouldnt rate this place at all. We have been there a few times cause its convenient for my kids and my family. On numerous occasions we had a few mishaps with them . This time was the worst ever. They served burnt fish 3 times. We sent it back the 1st then 2nd then 3rd. The manager wasnt available at the time. We spoke to the supervisor. We paid for our meal cause we had starters. Three different waiters were were seeing to us. I will never suggest this place to anyone. Called the manager the next day he said maybe the chef was having a bad day. And by the way it wasnt busy at all.

As always their food and jovial waiters and waitresses are tops for our family. Weve never once had a negative experience with them. Just last night a family member unfortunately had the lid of the salt cellar pop off and empty its contents on her meal. Fabien our waiter was there in a flash apologising emphatically and he was soon followed by the manageress, Lina, who promptly ordered an entirely fresh meal. Now for me thats service in this day and age.Keep up the great work.

(Before lockdown) This ocean basket has terrible customer service. We have been there twice, once to sit down and order, where it took them 35 minutes where no one came to seat us or tell us if there was space or not. We then left because we saw people who were complaining about ordering so long ago and never received their food.(10 July 2020) The second time we ordered food for take away and waited with like 18 other people who had ordered or wanted to order, and no one was there to help. The sanitizer was finished and everyone tried using it. And eventually when we got our food the order was not even right, there was food missing.

The worst ocean basket branch i have ever been to. All started well ,as we arrived we were greeted and seated and offered a drink. We followed all the covid procedures recorded details and were ready to place our order.Our waiter arrived and took our order. and served us our coffees and complimentary rolls.There after the frustration started. This branch had been running a special of fish and chips for R35 and they had seemed to be busy with take away orders , At this point we are the only seated patrons in store of which were two guests my self and my wife.Based on the sit down store being empty we were sure to get the best service yet we were totally wrong.1- Our waiter did not return to check on us the entire 25-35 minutes our food took2- We finished our coffees and were not offered a top up3- No one seemed to bother that we were in the restaurant4- I did mention to some guy that seemed like a manager and asked whats the hold up with our food and his response was im going to the back to check next thing his busy chatting on the phone and failed to advise me not to worry your order is on its way.5 - When the food finally arrived seemed much cooler and warm as compared to the normal ocean basket standard of hot served in the pot6 - My waiter apologized by saying sorry im busy with phone orders. I told him i respect that but i am the only sit down paying guest in your store so we need some form of service.7 - I was very upset by the time my food had arrived and had a few bites and decided i was no longer happy to sit in this ocean basket store and requested a take away as i was totally disappointed8 - Upon payment of my bill of R364 i was upset as this was just money i wasted and i was not an important guest at the store9 - I took it upon myself to let a manager know and the other staff that i was entirely not happy with this branches service and i would never return.Upon my exit of the store i looked back and saw an empty shop and then i thought to myself Now i know why !!! Lastly the OB team at this branch did say sorry ......sorry doesnt pay the bills i never say sorry when it was time to make the payment and neither are we looking to rob anyone so we only asks for the basic services you expect at a restaurant. Especially now with COVID19 our pockets are tight but we still choose to support local stores and business and the bottom line is this was a poor example.I STILL LOVE THE BRAND OB AS THEY ARE THE BEST BUT AS FOR THIS BRANCH NEVER AGAIN

This is the best ocean basket in KZN hands down and dare I say it best seafood restaurant in the area. Very good service very friendly good tasty food every plate Ive eaten there. Book in advance for weekend tables cause it can be busy.

The complimentary rolls are alot smaller than they used to be. Other that the food was exactly as expected. Came to the table fresh and hot. Service was good.

First time. My daughters choise for her 18th Birthday dinner. Great service from our waiter Daddy and really tasty and well prepared sea food.... Calamari, fish, prawns for mains... Not to forget a fantastic sushi starter platter. We will be back. Thanks Ocean Basket.

Been eating at this Ocean Basket for the last 3 years or so. Food is always excellently prepared and service is quick. Lovely chilled atmosphere and a nice dining experience. Lastly, in my opinion, their calamari is outstanding. Will definitely keep eating here.

Food was great and staff were friendly. Only complaint I had was the music. The music was played intermittently with long pauses inbetween each song, the volume was all upside down too. It ruined the atmosphere of the restaurant and soured an otherwise great evening.

The best quality for a fair price. The atmosphere and area are pristine. Pleasant dinning for family or less formal events.

Not sure of the name of the waitress but she was awesome. A great sense of humor and caring attitude.Will look for her again!!We had a half portion of hake and calamari with rice and chips.

The quality of food is good.However ordered the Full deck platter and quantity of food on the platter that I got was far to little.

It is a very well themed place. I had the Salmon Platter. It is a bit pricey though. I would definitely go there again.

Service was good but food quality was awful-butter sauce is actually margarine, California sushi roll contained more cucumber than fish and avo was unripe.Apparently adding cucumber to a california roll is the norm,if it was listed on the menu then fair enough but this is the first ever restaurant to serve cucumber in california roll,note sushi was ordered off normal menu not fusion sushi menu

Have been patrons here for Ten Years.....so many eateries all around here now....Ocean Basket remains our Decided Favourite Head and Shoulders above the rest....their cuisine., Staff and service within a very pleasing Space makes for pleasant time out Enjoyable! Memorable.

Starter was great, prawn special not so good. I felt the meal was prepared in advance and not cooked when ordered. It lacked that just cooked flavour and in some prawns they were fridge cold in parts.

I have been to many ocean basket restaurant. But today was my worst experience. We waiting so long for our drinks .We asked the waiter whos name is daddy for lemons with the drinks and he didnt bring it .the food took very long when it got to us it was very cold were the fish and batter was soaked with oil .the waiter in all the time we were there never did come to us to see if we were ok or if we needed anything else .it seemed like he was doing us a favour or we were getting free food. He went out shopping at checkers while we were looking for him for a glass of water .I will never go there again

Very good service. But the food was not as good as the Gateway branch. The prawn meat seemed bonded with the shell which made it difficult to clean and eat.
