Not the Best Atmosphere & Food, but not to bad for the Price.

The ambience is great and the food is lovely. Oh the waiter was something else, he came with an inflated bill, with drinks we never had. When I questioned that he said, I dont remember your drinks. In fixing that still the amount did not add up and the manager was no where to be found. What a disappoint!

We felt safe inside the waitress sanitised the table before we sat and reallly looked after us in a special way.The foor was very reasonable and the quality really good.

Went to Woodcutters for Valentines day dinner. I kniw what you thinking odd place for a Valentines dinner venue but in my defense we wanted to try something different that didnt have Set menus most other more romantic settings had satet menus that cost on average R400 pp and didnt offer all that much for the price. Woodcutters offered no set menu and even had a steak special that consists of a 21day aged rump steak, chips and onion rigns for R50! Yes R50! The steak was only 200gs but with a starter was more than sufficient. My girlfriend had ribs as a main and it was delicious. Probably their best item on the menu. Me deing a sucjer for a good deal opted for the rump steak and dare i say it was one of the best steaks iv had in some time. The meat was tender and cooked ro perfection. I ordered medium rare and it came you guessed it medium rare. Not medium like so many other establishments that are way more pricy and known for their steaks. I wont mention names. Woodcutters exceeded my expectation. The waitress that served us was curtious and friendly and i really cant find much to criticize the service. If i had to be pedantic i would crit the fact there wasnt enough napkins on our table and i needed to ask for more but that is me being overly critical. We had a wonderful evening and i applaud an establishment that dosnt push Valentines day and try capitalize set menus with no other options. Well done Woodcutters and i hope you keep up the great work you doing in the kitchen. You will be seeing us again thats for sure. Any resturant that 2 peope go to for a romantic dinner and the bill comes to R410 (incuding tip) that includes two starters two mains, two glasses of wine and two cokes is great value for money. The biggest issue i had as someone that dosnt drink is the price of their soft drinks are on the high side. Over R20 for a 300ml coke is in my opinion a little too expensive. But as i only payed R50 for one of the best steaks iv had its again a very small gripe. Iv heared a lot of criticism on the interior of the restaurant being a little dated but i dont agree. Its filled with pictures and even tools used to fell trees in the old days and i find it a breath of fresh air compared to the minimalist venues that are so abundant everywhere you go. Woodcutters tells a story and i personally like that. I recently hurt my back so i was rather uncomfortable on the chairs but im sure that was only due to my injury and not the furniture. My girlfriend found the chairs to be perfectly comfortable. They also have booths available with very comfortable benches. There is no smoking inside but outside there is a smoking section. All and all im impressed and i hope this establishment is still here long after im not. Salute Woodcutters you have made my top 10 places to eat a wholesome meal.

It had been a while since we ate there, (this is before the latest lockdown), but we had one of their steak specials each, the staff were friendly, service was great, its kinda like an institution in Westville it has been around for a long time. I hope Woodcutters survives this latest lockdown.

After not having been there for many moons, Woodcutters is still a refreshingly great experience. Our waitron, I think his name was Andy, was the consummate professional.

The food here is reasonable, hospitality top notch and the food never dissapoints.

Although the restaurant was not that busy, I found a lack of waitrons. Food was considerably quick to arrive. We sat in the pub area where there was Aircon, as it was a scorching evening, but it lacked the vibey atmosphere generally associated with Woodcutters. Overall though, a very pleasant experience

Prices are not bad but if you are not local you are pretty much an irritation. Water served in a plastic measuring jug! Coffee was burnt and steak over cooked to death. Not really worth while going again. The schnitzel was good, calamari grilled was okish. We were worried about road blocks so did not throw down the tequilas and jaegerbombs. So fine if you want to party, but for a lunchtime meal, no thanks

Food was good but we waited 2 hours for the food.

I had a rump steak medium rear special 200g with chips and onion rings. It was done to perfection and the staff were very friendly even though it was just before closing time during lockdown. Well done to a great experience.

Out on the verandah very quiet compared to days gone by.Friday lunchtime used to be pumping.I mean Durban stops work at this time..This C19 has bitten deeper into the psyche of the people than we maybe realize.Very good specials and,as always, very well cooked.

Fantastic Thursday night special! Steak and beer £52 includes chips, onion rings and sauce. Steak was delicious and tender. Service was excellent, staff friendly and attentive. Added bonus they have a great outdoors seating area which is very popular so make sure you book in advance!

The woodcutters restaurant offers a great service with delicious meats and veggies it has wonderfull family friendly service great experience family fun 80% gauranteed only lacks a children play area but its a nice place ro go to if you expect a quick meal a few drinks with the friends and a good friendly service.

Service was good, but the burgers were nothing but in my opinion. Tasted like over the counter, solid dry patties that I didnt even want to feed to my dog.However there steaks are great.

If you want an affordable night with the family I would recommend coming here. Their specials are beyond reasonable and the food divine. They know how to cook a steak to perfection!

To enter non smoking area you must walk through the smoking section. Restaurant was full of sigarette smoke. Good and waiter was good, but we were unable to enjoy it properly due the smoke.

This place has little glimmers of greatness , it could be that awesome bar only the locals know of, that serves the most amazing food, but it falls short for one major reason.Ive been here several times, their Thursday burger special is good value, but each time I am here there is the same disappointment: Avoid their deep fried foods, for what ever reason their chef has the oil temp way to cold , as a result everything that has a crumb on it is drenched in old greasy oil.2/5 especially if your dates a vegetarian and ordered the vegetarian plate thats all deep fried, also droopy onion rings?
