Thr shelves were mostly empty. They have a fantastic range of condiments. The tea range seems to disappeared, maybe due to covid, looting and supply chain deliveries.

Always amazing getting my spices here, fresh and great smelling. The only thing that made me so sad was that the snack bar has been closed down. It was the highlight of my shopping experience. Wish it would come back soon.

Awesome selection of spices, ingredients, ready-made spice-mixes and snack foods. Also has a great cafe inside which serves some of the tastiest chaat in the city. Definitely worth a visit even if its just for a quick snack. Would recommend the pav bhaaji and Bombay crush.

The 2 down stars is due to the pricing hike on vegetarian and plant based meat products. One would think now that the major chains are stocking them they would be competitive and reduce pricing but they have not. Most of the stuff in the frozen isle can be got cheaper elsewhere.Still worth a visit if you are Hindu and looking for prayer stuff or pantry goods. They stock a wide range of legumes, pulses, spices, grains, flours, canned and pickled goods, and all things Asian for the kitchen and your table as well as aryuvedic meds etc. They also carry teppanaki and tandoori ovens, bulk cooking utensils, wood etc. They carry a wide range of imported Indian snacks , sweet meals, ready to make meals.Personally there are better alternatives in respect of the frozen food isle, in all other respects they are extremely competitive and worth a visit.Free undercover parking and safe.

The iconic Spice Emporium in central Durban has for decades provided good quality spices from India. Now they also bring to us a taste of North Indian “street food”. Not to be seen in a derogatory manner, street food culture of India is vast, popular and delicious. Quick, simple, made fresh and hot the items on sale will tantalise your taste buds and satisfy your hunger. Highly recommended to both Durban locals and travelers – it is a taste of India right here in Durban.

Entering there is like going back to my native town; I mean not only do they have almost all incredients I need to cook a delicious traditional meal are in there, they have high quality products at a very affordable price. However, it would be better (especially for me) if they could have non GMO organic soya beans.

I love spices ( Blame it on my South African Heritage!). BUT never knew how to use half of them properly and too chicken to try new ones. Finally, you can learn, ask questions and shop all in the same place. There are daily tours, explaining the origin of spices, the history of how the spice trade expanded in South Africa (And Africa), lessons on how to use spices and the opportunity to discover a whole new spice range.A tasting after is a definite must.Highly recommended.

Disappointed, Store Closure Time is 5.00 but the cafe refused to serve anything at 4.30 saying the tills are closed and end of the day function has been performed. If youre going to perform your end of the day function half an hour earlier than closing time than please do mention it on Google under your shop timings so that people like me do not waste their time driving to the store.

Everything you can dream of, lots imported. All the Indian cooking supplies youd need including ingredients, pots, utensils, cookers, starches, spices, garnishes and even sweets. We mostly visit for the snack bar which makes a great lunch. The snacks are all authentic Indian street foods, and unlike the fare you usually find in Durban. Dont expect bunny chews, rotis wraps, or samosas. They take a while to prepare, but well worth the wait and very reasonable!

If you live in Durban and you havent been to Spice Emporium you should be locked up. They have every spice you can imagine and more and at super crazy reasonable prices. They also stock cocoa and almonds and cranberries and shizz like that for cheap too. Most stuff comes in a wide range of sizes and forms (ground, whole, etc). You can also grab a chow from their restaurant in the store. Be warned though, if you go once youll keep going back.
