Great stay over coming from the Cape to Jhb. Lovely farm off the highway and great rooms. Food was amazing and everyone is super friendly and willing to help. Try the lamb for supper and banana bread for breakfast its a must!

A very well run establishment that has been around for many years. Clean, comfortable and very convenient with their delicious pre-made meals waiting for you when you arrive if you stay in the self catering accommodation. The pool, farm dogs, trampline and tree house keeps the kids busy! The owners are always around to check on operations and guests. You won’t be disappointed.

Once again an excellent stop over. Rooms beautifully done and well appointed. Great place to bring your dogs.

Good location on N1 for a stopover.Lamb curry was delicious and staff were friendly and accommodating.Unfortunately the water in the shower was very tepid. Tried again in the morning but it was the same. When I asked about it was told it was due to loadshedding and timer. Was disappointing after a long trip from Joburg.

Sad to say, it just isnt the way it used to be. The obnoxious and crude manner in which one is treated during the booking process is noticible. Even after having stayed at this establishment a number of times, I think its time to look elsewhere in the future. Seems they are not particularly interested in returning customers.

Most amazing hidden gem in SA. We were warmly greeted, fed wonderfully, and given the most lovely accommodations by our host when we stopped in unexpectedly. Thank you so much for spoiling us. The best of wishes to all!

Best half-way Karoo stop-over for those who prefer not to do the Cape Town to Johannesburg trip in one day. The perfect start and end to Cape holiday.

Fantastic service, lovely breakfast. Self -catering option is pet-friendly. We arrived at 10pm and our beds had been warmed up thanks to electric blankets. They are more responsive by phone than email and will call before you arrive with instructions in case it is late at night. Amazing scenery, super friendly staff. The perfect halfway stop between Johannesburg and Cape Town.

Charming and well presented, delicious food and lovely social quaint pub. The guests meet for pre dinner drinks. Little Gin, the tame Meerkat stole our hearts.

Kuilfontein Guest Farm is certainly one of the BEST places to stay between Pretoria and Port Elizabeth.Anna (various roles in one person) welcomed us on arrival. The friendly reception and the hospitality made us feel to stay even longer.The owner of Kuilfontein spent lots of time with us at the fire place (it was very cold) and made us feel even more welcome.We will certainly choose Kuilfontein again for our next stop over.

This has to be the best hidden gem near Colesberg! We try to stay here every time we need to stop over on a long distance route and it has not disappointed once! The rooms are comfortable and unique with thoughtful personal touches. The sublime dinner was an absolute feast! We were, once again, sad to leave after a hearty breakfast the next morning. I will not stay anywhere else within 150km of this place! An absolute 5 star treat. Quaint, cosy, homely pub, lounge and dining room housed in restored old, stable buildings. Fantastic drinks selection, pleasant and friendly fellow travellers. Owner and extended family joined in and we heard interesting history of the farm and surrounds. The 3 or 4 course supper was sublime and we could cheerfully have settled in for a three hour breakfast... but had to leave. Penny, Lexi and Grant - you do the Stables proud! Thank you for your gracious hospitality 💜

“The ONLY stopover in Colesberg!”Visited October 2015We stayed at Kuilfontein on a friends recommendation and were not disappointed: extremely comfortable beds, friendly hosts and the 3-course dinner was simply amazing. This is definitely the place to stop over in Colesberg!---Visited June 2019We last stayed at Kuilfontein in 2015 and were pleased that we were able to stay there again on our drive from JHB to CPT.This time was even better than we remember, with amazing an dinner and great company by the hosts, and the dogs, cats, and meerkat!The Stable cottages have been renovated with new doors and roofing, so they should be even cosier in winter.Highly recommend sleeping over at Kuilfontein!
