As I have visited the Steenberg Wine Estate before I knew it would be beautiful, but when we arrived at the Tryn restaurant (also on the estate) I was blown away once again. Your first view of the restaurant is a red brick walkway flanked by large trees with the restaurant on your right side and an expansive green lawn on your left. Although they have inside and outside seating areas, I definitely recommend you try and get a table outside of the weather is nice. The beauty of the area around the tables (bushes, flowers and even a little stream), and then the big trees and lawn in the background, creates such a relaxing experience that you wont want to leave. The lawn is a great area for the kids to play and there are a couple of games also  spread around and it is in clear view of the tables, so its easy for the parents to keep an eye on them. We went for breakfast and we had a great time. Their menu has various different items and I went for the Eggs Benedict which was very tasty as well as a warm cup of cappuccino. We were a large group, but the staff did a good job of managing everyones expectations and I can even recommend Tryn for smaller groups. This would also be a great place for a romantic date or anniversary.

Beautiful restaurant with very friendly and professional staff. The wine and cap classique was exquisite. Some of the dishes were amazing, yet the fresh tagliatelle was not al dente. Cocktails were also a bit off.

We were fortunate enough to experience Tryn restaurant after a day of wine tasting at the Steenberg Estate.We had taken advantage of the dinner date special - a choice of cocktail, starter and mains.The starter was a selection of baby squid. Well seasoned and tender, creating one of the best portions of baby squid I had ever tasted in my life.The mains was the highlight. A Cape Bream fish served on blackened rice. A delicate, light yet flavorful fish, amplified by the accompanying sauces.The evening was capped off with dessert, a warm chocolate ball.Overall, an excellent dining experience which I highly recommend

This is a really lovely restaurant - beautiful decor, outdoor seating with views, friendly & attentive service and excellent food. They also have a kids menu & more relaxed lunch options for those not wanting a big meal. Definitely worth a visit.

Very impressed with my experience, staff were friendly, the pork belly was cooked to perfection, flavors on the plate were an explosion in the mouth. And for dessert the chocolate brownie was so moist and chocolate. A great dining experience, definitely will be going back.

Overpriced and underwhelming. Setting is great, reception friendly. Starter tempura prawns were great but my steak tartar was very bland. Pulled beef main very good, the vegetarian pasta was mediocre, a medium rare fillet closer to well done than to medium rare and my fish was ok. Actually my fish was also very bland. My sons chips was good. Ice cream desert was great but the cheesecake was horrible.. Probably in cold storage for a week! Waited more than an hour from starter to be served mains. If you want to charge these eye watering prices, jack up your kitchen. My advice... Give the place a miss.

Ive always loved dining at Tryn. The ambience is beautiful, the place is well ventilated and bright. The courtyard is breathtaking with the view of Cape mountains. The food is Beautifully presented and tastes amazing. I love the tempura prawns always. Great service too. Its the best place to go for any type of occasion.

We were so privileged to be invited to a wedding celebration hosted at Tryn. We were seated outdoors. Service was excellent. Food beautifully presented and the flavours were delectable. This is dining for gastronomes.

A beautiful tranquil outdoor setting. Limited menu, and it was rather difficult to adjust the ingredients, as required by diet. The calamari was dissapointing, tho all dish presentations was good. Quite full lunchtime, considering covid social distancing requirements.

Went to view the venue... What an amazing place. The grounds are green and beautiful. Cant wait to have the family function there.Its amazing for kids too. They have these board games on the grass to keep kids busy. Beautiful space and delicious food. The scallop and cumin fritter starter was light and tasty, really enjoyed the pea puree. As a main I had the risotto with prawns, loved every bite and the prawns were cooked to absolute perfection. Quite pricey, but definitely worth it. Give it a try!

Celebrated my youngest daughters 21st birthday there. The service and atmosphere was excellent with the most friendly waiters. Upmarket restuarant with a varied menu - something for everyone. Comprehensive wine list available. Our meals were outstanding, and my wife was given a complimentary dessert as it was her birthday. The staff are friendly and efficient. Definitely will be going back in the future.

Its just too expensive for what it was and too underwhelming for what it tries to be. Its not bad, but you will leave the place unsatisfied. Its really, really average and for that vastly too expensive. Bonus points for the interior, they have done good here

Always such a great experience at Tryn. This time we made it just in time to still order breakfast (must happen before 11am) and tried the Eggs Royale, essentially an Eggs Benedict with Salmon Trout. The lamb was awesome. Very soft, delicious. Only reason for a 4 and not a 5, the fondant not so great, very dry and tge basil ice cream not my favourite. , but great place . Will absolutely suggest it. The attached Pic was another dessert that I loved 👌🏾

Lovely lazy Sunday lunch experience

We loved our visit here, we didnt even make it inside and it was great with lawn bowls and other games to play, we sat on the lawn with our kids and a coffee from Tryn and had a good time

We went, my hubby and I, to celebrate our 6 months of being married. Our waiter was not yet up to scratch, but the food was phenomenal! Really really good. Staff needs some training still, but really a great spot- and exceptional view.I did mention the disappointment of the service and was responded to so quickly and with such care that I have changed my review- as the food and set up is exceptional.

I took 4 of my work colleagues to dinner on a Saturday. The service and food were superb. Atmosphere is a bit drab and their very own Steenberg 1682 bubbly was R385 a bottle. Outrageous!

My Wife and I are staying at newly renovated Steenberg hotel an Spa on 2 Sep 2019, and had the opportunity to enjoy dinner at Tryn during their opening night. Chef Kerry Kilpin should be declared a South African Gem! Her menu at Tryne caters to food connoisseurs. A talented chef who blends textures, tastes and presentation to perfection. Rarely have I experienced such a good balance. We’ll definitely be back for more!Update: We returned again during our final night in Cape Town to savour again the dishes! Highly recommend!
