Went here with a couple of friends on a quiet rainy day. Inside was actually warm and cozy. Staff were really friendly and attentive. The food was amazing and the portions were great. We started off with a platter of wings, ribs and jalapeno poppers. Followed by Sirloin steak, chicken strips and calamari. Lastly a Guinness infused cheese cake with ice cream. While I didnt experience the bar and beer side of this place, I had a good experience.

One of the few places that still offer a good old Sunday lunch and pudding. Lovely to sit outside if the weather us good.

Good old fashioned pub. An awesome quiz night every Tuesday at 7pm. Great fun. Good range of draught and bottled beers with Devils Peak being the favoured brewery. Typical pub grub style menu, reasonably priced. I had the Jalapeno pizza for R110 but will definitely try the Chicken Schnitzel (R80) and Eisbein (R165) the next couple of times!!

Lovely place to unwind with friends. Just one thing I would suggest is that every table get a token and have an outside bar as well, so that people can get their own drinks billed to the table. It takes forever for a drinks order. By the time you drink arrives you even forgot what you ordered. I waited for an hour for a cup of coffee. But ja the waiter said he was busy

Food and Service was Great! Just a bit ridiculous that the smoking section is at the play area??? Doesnt give our kids much of a healthy option when visiting. Why not put it at the bar side where people are already smoking?

Sunday lunch with my family. This place is such a gem. We enjoyed our food and the vibe. Kids could play in the cute play area with wooden jungle gyms, service was friendly and very professional. We had been told the lemon meringue was made in house, but after tasting it soon realized that was not the case, our waitress was awesome and went to check with the kitchen manager who then advised it was store bought and that they were going to start baking fresh desserts at the time. The transparency was really commendable and not even that little experience could have spoiled our time there. The pizzas were delicious, had the pork taco as well, very very tasty. The wings were nice too. Prices are affordable and the lunch specials are worth it. Definitely a new family favourite. The menu has great variety and the vibe is lively but still chilled. Summer game day hangout place!

My husband and I went for the R39 breakfast special. The food arrived within 15 minutes and it was very good value for money. Would most definitely visit again. Keep up the great service.

Our waitress was fantastic really engaging her clients and even took the time to explain what would happen during the expected load shedding. Food was great and tasty. Drinks menu could do with a bit more variety.

Wonderful service. The Waitress Anastasia was friendly, humble and on the ball. I am very impressed with her service. I had their pub lunch special of R75, a pizza and it was fantastic thin base crispy Margareta with ham. My wife had calamari and chips and she was fantastic.

This is your typical pub and grub place. Food is very average, and the vibe is very bar like. Would only visit to have a social beer.

Amazing place! However a few hickups made it a little less amazing.We were quite a large table, almost everyone smokers, but were sharing 1 ashtray almost the entire time we were there. Orange juice stock was finished. But the most appauling thing was when the waiter asked one of the people on our table if we will be able to pay the bill (2 people on the table ordered a double Johhny Walker Blue) yes a very expensive whiskey. I understand you as waiter sometimes is held responisble for a walkout or struggle to have people pay their bills at the end of the night. However, you dont approach it in such away.Overall very nice place with a great atmosphere

The Hollow Tree is a marvelous laid back, outdoor venue. The service is especially laid back so be prepared not to pop in for quick bite as only the atmosphere is on point. The Moroccan Meatball starter I had was exceptional, but the Honey Crunch Chicken Strips were quite dry and the batter rock hard. My friend raved about her Ribs and another guest said his Eisbein was excellent. Overall a pleasant afternoon and plan to spend a couple of hours for lunch as that is realistically how long it will take.

Service is a bit slow & unprofessional but what you expect from a pub. Waiter told us he was tired & couldnt recommend something good to eat or drink, but we sat outside at night & enjoyed the lights wrapped around the trees. Food was ok, nothing amazing, but not bad.

I do believe that this is one of the more popular Restaurants in the a rear. Breakfast, Lunch, Pub Lunch, and Dining. You can also order Pizza which are made fresh and, and cooked to perfection in a wood fired Pizza oven. If you like seating on the outside there are benches under trees which will give you a lot of shade.The restaurant has one bar at the garden and one in the restaurant where you can sit at the bar.GunterViet.

I avoided the place for about 2 years because the quality of the food really went down. I was pleasantly surprised this afternoon. Had a very nice portion of chili beef nachos and it was really good. My partner was also happy with his burger.

It used to be awesome, but lately service is slow, by the luck of the draw you get one of the awesome waiters. Food is OK, nothing exceptional but atmosphere is awesome.

Not one of the best restaurants..food not that great and bathroom area not the greatest definitely needs a upgrade. Im sure the guys sees things differently as its more a Pub than a Restaurant.

Saturday morning, not very full. Waiter forgot our order. Food came out cold(bacon and eggs) toast came 10mins later. Waiter never checked on us again. I had to ask someone else for the bill. Didnt feel like complaining, this is why I hardly ever venture to that part of northern subs.

The place was nice and cosy. They had a nice fire going. Waiteress was a bit slow at first but once we got our food it was better. The food was amazing - ribs and pizza. I had malva pudding for dessert. It was quite a big portion. Custard was home made and a bit lumpy. They should perhaps add cocktails to the menu.

This place will always remain one of my favorite places to go and have a drink with some friends. It has a great vibe and the service is good!

Its a place for a variety of people, whether you like sitting alone, or in a crowd, whether you like a glass of wine or beer inside or outside. I had Irish Stew with Mash potatoes, I quite enjoyed it. My friends burger and pizza looked just as delishes as mine. After a nice long eating, drinking and chatting I made my way home. I will certainly visit again. It was a nice first experience.

Food was above average. The waitress that served us seemed a bit preoccupied. Food took a while to arrive. The non-smoking area was downwind from the smoking area and there was no barrier to prevent the plumes of smoke from meandering in our general direction.

One of our favorite places, unfortunately had a bad experience past Sunday, 3 of us ordered ribs, as this is one of our favorites. The ribs arrived and they were still ice cold on the bottom. Very unlike us, we sent the food back. The manager and staff very apologetic and we ordered other meals, as those were the last of the ribs. We will be back as we are hoping this was a once off

Too late for breakfast at 11h30, we ended up having brunch. What a pleasant surprise. Between us, we ordered different items from the Wednesday specials menu, from steak, egg and chips, to burgers and more. Someone next to us ordered chicken and calamari strips when we saw that, all of us decided that moment, that was what we wanted. The food arrived in less than 10 minutes. At my table, we were all big eaters, but the food was more than enough. No one at our table were still hungry or wanted anything more. Folks, the best chips in South Africa. Trust me, flat and broad, chrispy outside and soft inside chip. My mother has lost her 1st place chipmaker status. Hollow tree won. There are so much to choose from the menu, from pizzas, massive eisbines, steak, burgers even soup and more. The staff was great again. Service was like before, prompt, again. It feels as if I am on a farm, sitting and relaxing under the white willow trees, heavenly...... but still the position is on Old Oak road. Would I recommend this place? Yes, yes, yes. This is not the place for the fine dining experience. No, but man, is my wallet happy? Yes! Not even the fast food burger houses can compete in price, quantity, quality, service, venue or anything as a matter of fact. You should see Hollow Tree,s burgers in comparison! A very old farm house that has been converted into a very lovely restaurant. Service is great, waiters and waitresses very efficient and friendly. Menu is very good value for money.
