Fantastic restaurant. Food is always delicious and well priced. Would have given 5 stars but 2x waiters were serving with masks below noses and 1 below mouth. Had to ask manager 2x to rectify this. Restaurant was full too so no excuse.
A meal at Saigon is always delicious. I always try something new for a starter but one main dish keeps bringing me back! The service is great - and quite speedy. I tried sushi here for the first time - it was fresh and the portions were generous, as they are for all the other dishes. I cant wait to go back for the ginger prawns again
After so many years and so many businesses somebody got it right. If the food in Vietnam taste anything like this it is enough reason for a visit. The staff is well trained and the service is excellent.I must mention a manager by the name of Bernard who has his eye on the pulse in this restaurant and he is certainly one of the reasons for their success. The food is just so well prepared and presented that one could possibly call this a cullinary delight.Compares very favourably with some of the fine dining venues but at a fraction of the price. Will they see me back? Foresure
This was place was amazing! I became friends when a local couple and they took me here. Wow, just fantastic, delicious, outstanding food. You will not be disappointed.
A delightful find in Cape Town. We were looking for any Vietnamese restaurant and our hope was low. We arrived late with three kitchen closing in less than 10 minutes. The restaurant was still crowded. The service was super. Most importantly the food was delicious, fresh, and flavorful. We ordered Beef sizzling and steamed fish. We decided to come back the second time while we still have time in Cape Town. This time wee ordered the mushroom salad, steamed fish again, the crispy ginger fish. Our waiter was super friendly and responsive. The salad was a balanced mix and fresh. The crispy ginger fish was another great choice.Overall wed definitely come here again.
Very interesting place to eat. The first time I ate here (maybe 3 or 4 years ago) was a lovely and left a lasting impression. However recently visited again, I was disappointed as it was not up to the same standards as before, things like portion size and care that was put into making the food? It feels like there might have been a change in management of the cook. I would still suggest it for a place to try something different for example the pho, but personally might not be rushing back for seconds.
Had a very enjoyable evening and will definitely return. Pork belly was fantastic.
Have not eaten a bad dish at this restaurant, sweet chilli calamari starter is a must! Awesome service and authentic food.
What a pleasure to finally have dinner at this iconic restaurant. It was busy so booking is strongly recommended. Per the waiter’s recommendation, we ordered a couple of starters to share and then proceeded to share some of the mains as well. Almost everyone finished off with the deep-fried ice-cream. The food was really delicious and the service top-notch. Can’t wait to come again.
Oh my GOODNESS....they make the very BEST food.....their sweetnsour pork is simply PHENOMENAL 👌 and their portions are huge!!!!
Amazing Vietnamese restaurant with a great tasting Pho. I highly recommend it. The pork belly was so well made and everything was just perfect. Staff was friendly and food was quick. Ambience is awesome and lots of food to choose from. The only down side is that rice needs to be ordered as an extra but it should be included in the meals. There is a designated parking for the restaurant so that’s always a plus. Definite recommend.
Awesome place. Very good food and very friendly staff. Will be back
The food was brilliant, and the service was great. Easy to find and in a nice part of Cape Town. Nice vibe, highly recommended!
Huge Portions very nice owner. Make sure to have a reservation so you get a good seat. The only downside was the waitresses. It took us over 20min just to order another drink and another half hour before we got the desert menu. Maybe it was because we came in one hour before closing time. Parking in front possible. Great location.
Authentic is a term used very loosely at this establishment. Bun Bo is such a classic, how can even that go wrong? However, if you enjoy spring rolls and typical south African meat menu youll find something to eat, of that Im sure.I however cannot recommend it for its Vietnamese food.
So, according to my 10yr old daughter its the best food she has ever eaten. And with really attentive service and a bit of a personal touch from a Cape Town icon Im giving it a 5. Have one of the soups, you wont regret it.
Prices seem a little on the high side but food quality and quantity very good except for the baked Aubergine/Eggplant which was underdone and therefore disappointing.Three diners and we had a make your own wrap with spinach leaves which was fantastic. The Salmon Teriyaki was almost melt in your mouth and delicious. The Kingklip in Ginger sauce was a highlight.Overall, highly recommended
Nice ambience, nice service, nice food. So NICE
Authentic Asian cuisine - many choices on the menu - something for everyone.Staff are friendly and efficient. The best view of Table Mountain in town. Secure parking is available right outside the front door.
It has nice location where you can overlooking the table mountain. I always love their traditional Beef Pho and my hubby prefers the duck. Unfortunately the last time I went, they did not have the bean sprout for the toppings, instead they gave the shredded cabbage. I would give five star if they couldhave sound proof at the restaurant as when it quite full, it can be very noisy. Not the place if youd like a nice and cosy conversation. Otherwise, I recommend their yummy foods.
The food was great, had the Angry Duck dish. AMAZING. service was outstanding
Best Asian in town--usually sceptical about restaurants serving multiple Asian cuisines. But Saigon gets it right every time--whether Chinese dim sum, Vietnamese Phó Bo or Japanese gyoza. Great food!
I Highly recommended this restaurant. The ambiance, service, waitor, quality of food and portions was faultless. I do recommend that theyre a bit more descriptive on their menu regarding size and ingredients. The peppered pork lacked taste and pepper, that was the only dissapointments and the dish was a 3/10, the lamb however was a definately easy 10/10. All the other starters, mains and dessert, drinks that was had by our party of 6 was truly amazing. (maybe also desribe on your menu what the drink sake is, esp for those not used to drinking, lol) I also recommend reserving your table, as this restaurant is very popular and visited from patrons far and wide, they also have upstairs space when restaurant gets too busy. (I hardly ever rate a 5 star for a restaurant or a 10 for a dish, so this is saying alot.)
This place is way overpriced and the place has no ambience! I Paid 534 Rand for THIS and 2 Tom Yum soups and a starter. I was in a date and we left after a dumpling starter as something burnt in the kitchen and the air became very dense and the interior felt very cheap and run down. The staff were friendly but that’s the only complement I can leave
Amazing pho.. just like they make it in Vietnam
Delicious food. If you love that( Asian ) cuisine. This is the place to be .
We absolutely love Saigon. Our go to place for special occasions. Their food is always great 👍
Enjoyed the food! 👏 💯 Professional & friendly service. Will definitely recommend 👍
Excellent and super tasty food.. Definitely worth a visit.
This is one of the best restaurants in Cape Town. I have been coming here for many years. They have the most delicious food and the place has a lively ambience .
Used to love this place but tonight, a wednesday, it felt like a factory. Food still great but rushed, uninterested service. With reservation we were informed kitchen closes 21h, however minds were changed and it became 20h30. Disappointing experience. Restaurant was only about a quarter full, I suspect they’ve become smug and are being deserted by patrons. Time will tell.
I was taken on a trip to Vietnam and it was amazing. Food bursting with flavour and staff were friendly. It was a great experience, Ill be back soon.
My husband and I had a wonderful meal here. We ordered the pork potstickers, char grilled skewers, salmon nigiri, pho bo, and rack of lamb. Everything was wonderful and had great flavor and fresh ingredients! Also, the staff and service was wonderful! I definitely recommend stopping here if you like vietnemese food!
THE FAMILYS FAVORITE RESTURANT.HAVE NEVER HAD A BAD MEAL WITH THEM.
Hands-down the best comfort food and pho for delivery in all of the CBD. I would religiously order it about once a week. Taste just like the street stalls in Saigon or Hanoi.
Food was amazing. Especially surprised by how good the sushi was.
Saigon serves decent Vietmanese food in a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere. The service could have been slightly better, however I still enjoyed my meal and would happily go back again. Between two of us we had two cocktails (poured generously), an order of duck spring rolls (tasty though on the small side), beef noodles (delightful) and fried tofu with jasmine rice (even more delightful). Id gladly recommend this place to a friend.
Surprisingly upscale for a Vietnamese restaurant which Im not used to. I stumbled upon this joint when I was in town for a visit (and had a bad craving for Pho). Pho was ok comparing to North American standards but definitely bonus points for the creative lobster spring rolls+cocktail menu! Service was a bit disappointing may be because I was alone by myself, the server left me waiting for a while. The atmosphere actually reminds me of a sushi bar, quite busy and yet you still have intimate corners here and there. In overall, its a nice place for a date (if he or she insisted on having Vietnamese food!). Will definitely visit again if I ever come to town just to see if the last experience was a flop!
View was stunning! Food was mediocre! Service was poor!We ordered sushi for starters. We wanted the platter for two, but apparently they dont do that anymore. Fine. We then ordered separate plates. One of the orders was missing off our plate. The mains were: the Pork Belly, Saigon Beef and the Angry Duck. The pork was disappointing, as I anticipated this one the most. The beef had the same flavour as a burger from Spur. Bland. The Angry Duck was the best of the awful bunch, which I assume is because of the chilli (flavour, flavour, flavour!). Oh, the duck is not very angry. Needed about 5-10 more chillies extra for that! Our waitress was daft, at best. I hate to be mean, but we asked what was best to eat, she mentioned the entire menu. We asked if crabstick was in the sushi, she said no. We pointed out on the menu that says it does have crabstick, and she said yes. We sat waiting for the sushi for about 30 minutes. And a further 5-10 minutes for our waitress to finish off her fat chat with her colleague before further assisting us.This place is massively overpriced and ridiculously overrated. Would not go again or recommend. Thanks.
THE BEST FOOD!!! Vanilla Mango Splash also a huge favourite!!! Cant wait to celebrate our anniversary at Saigon!!
Great food, great service. Highly recommended.
Nikkei beef is a must with Egg fried garlic rice and the Prawn toast a must as a starter
I ordered here tonight through UberEats and I couldn’t chew through my crystal rolls, so I spit it out to see what it was. What I found was very BIZARRE. Inside my roll, was a neatly placed cut off latex glove finger with a dirty paper towel stuffed inside the latex finger. This could’ve been very dangerous and harmful if consumed or choked on, especially if a kid ate it. This seemed way too intentional and not a mistake from someone in the kitchen, as the stuffed finger was neatly wrapped up within the roll, and the paper towel inside the latex finger was also meticulously rolled up. They need to investigate their team and find out why and how this happened. Thank God I didn’t choke on it. I’ve ordered here in the past and the food has always been good, so I’m very shocked that this happened. The manager apologized and said he’d look into it, but never got back to me with any response.
Salmon Teriyake is out of this world. 🤤
Even with a reduced menu due to covid regulations, its still a regular favourite for dinner with friends or business. All they cook is just delicious!
Beautiful place, the food is nice and tasty. Really gave me the Ho Chi Mihn City experience I was missing
Excellent service from Ryan and BRILLIANT tasting authentic asian cuisine. 10 out ot 10!Many thanks again.
The best Asian cuisine in Cape town! Saigon is a really special place. The service is top notch, and having been to Asia many times, the food is out of this world. 10 out of 10
A food experience!Spicy Calamari dish that re-define what Calamari should taste like!
Its pricy for Asian cuisine however the atmosphere and service really makes up for whats on the menu. Its my first time having Vietnamese, must say it was worth the experience. I am still feeling having a full Saki before I left😇mos dessert!
My husband and I fly down almost every year to celebrate our birthday or anniversary there just because we love the food so much...
The food isnt halal so I couldnt enjoy all that was on offer. Had to stick to dessert. Had a deep fried ice cream. Wasnt the best I ever had but was exactly what was offered. The service was amazing. The decor was good. The crowd was good too. The food looked amazing. Defn a good experience even though it was just dessert
A favorite authentic restaurant any foodie would enjoy. I took Vietnamese visitors here confidently and they loved it. Been coming here for years and never been disappointed - that says something 🍾
Excellent Vietnamese cuisine. Always my go to when Im looking for indulgence. Angry duck is my absolute favourite.
Excellent Asian restaurant !
Our go to in the neighborhood, it probably offers the best Asian in Cape Town along with Nobu. Their lamb dish is my particular favourite, tender and nicely spiced.
What am amazing place. We ordered several different meals, and every one of them was divine. A bit expensive, but the quality of food was worth every penny
This was an experience of a life time with friends who introduced us to a different culture and we had thought them our culture.
Wonderfully Experience
The food is always amazing here. I can understand why it is such a long standing favourite. You have to book no matter what night you plan to visit
Nice food but really pricey for what you get
Absolutely stunning food, great service as always. Thank you Saigon for never disappointing, we will be back.
Food is so delicious.
Tasty food.
Delicious dumplings. Great service. And restaurant ambience is really good. Had a beautiful view looking up Table Mountain
It was my first time having Vietnamese food and I was totally impressed! Their dim sum and soup are a definite winner! Best to try a little bit of everything and share, the food was quite filling and we didnt even order anything from the main dishes section on the menu.
Yummy very authentic tasting Vietnamese food. Delicious. Very kind and accommodating wait staff. They will be seeing me soon again, really soon.
Almost 5 stars. Have eaten there a few times recently and the food has excellent. Not intending any criticism, but the food has improved in the past year I think. Each dish is fresh and hot, not too much sauce. Best friend rice in town. Great wine list too. Go early and youll get great service and fast.
Food and service excellent as usual!
