It was a lovely afternoon. The service was impeccable and the fixed heritage day menu was lovely, especially the spicy prawns! We were even moved to the outside patio when a table became available. A small intimate restaurant with a peaceful ambience. Just book...
On the 9th of April 2021, I was fortunate to be invited by the Cape Quaffers social wine tasting club for a wine tasting at Klein Constantia. As I have not been there yet, I jumped at the opportunity.Upon arriving at Klein Constantia Estate, you go through a security gate, and I immediately felt safer and more secure. The entrance to the tasting centre is pleasant and serene. The little water feature and the fish stream create a sense of peaceful tranquillity. In a small walkway to the tasting facilitys inner sanctum, you first have to sign in and accept the COVID protocols. It was great to see that although it is a must to follow all the COVID 19 protocols, you did not feel inundated with the severe pandemic that so interfered with our lives. The history and how Klein Constantia came to be an estate and what type of varietal grows were are well displayed. The tasting with Allan as our tasting master went awesome. Not only is he very knowledgeable about Klein Constantia Estate. The taste master is also very knowledgeable about the type of wines and the blends to make a specific type of show stopper like the Vin De Constance, whom we were fortunate to have a little taste. At R1200 per bottle, this wine is well under-priced, in my amateur opinion. We were a fantastic bunch of people together, and Allan, the taste master, had us laughing a couple of times with his quick wit and great humour. After the tasting, we could browse and even buy some of the wines or other paraphernalia exhibited.I recommend a tasting at Klein Constantia Estate. You will have fun.#vindeconstance #kleinconstantia #grapes #wine #winelover #vineyard #team #muscatdefrontignan #bush #vine #sweetwine #legend #icon #capetown #southafrica #winelover #winestagram #constantia #constantiawine #vineyards #explore #history
Very, very Nice estate and excellent wines. The Bistro restaurant is classy and good. The personal is attentive to you too.Just one thing: the service timing has to be seriously managed. It could be a great problem in such a nice place. 👍👍👍🇫🇷🇿🇦
Staff were very friendly. We took friends from inland to experience Western Cape hospitality. What a disaster!!!!!Cheese platter was a 1/4 apple, few lonely crackers and 4 even lonelier pathetic small pieces of cheese at a ridiculous price!!What a waste of money!!Please do not try this option!!!!
Although this fancy establishment boasts beautiful scenery and has lovely wines, the food wasn’t quite up to scratch for the penny charged. R300 gets you a two course meal, starters was not very tasty, lacked some flavor and this leaving us all a tad nervous for the mains. That said, the mains saved the experience the lamb was succulent and oh so tasty 👌🏽 room for improvement, but will be back for wines...did I mention how beautiful this establishment is!
They make the most amazing wines. You are greeted onto the wine estate with lush green plantation. Well kept flowerbeds picture perfect views. The Bistro at Klein Constantia is situated right next to the tasting room. Great new addition to the Klein Constantia Team. They offer a 5 wine tasting which ends of with one of the most amazing desert wines known as such for centuries @vindeconstance. You can also choose the 9 wine tasting for the more adventurous where they start you off with some bubbles. You can request a cellar tour where you are taken on a rich cultural history which will make the wines taste even better knowing how they came about. The hostesses are knowledgeable but could be a little warmer in there approach. You can also arrange for a farm tour and picnic at the dam with amazing views. Well worth a try any day of the week.
A serene modern place entwined in rural antiquityThe experience is determined in the momentAnd was superb
We rode our bikes right up to this winery in Constantia and were thrilled with how welcomed we were! Luke presented us with our wine tastings and we learned so much about the history and the process of the wine making at the Klein Constantia Estate. The wine was genuinely incredible and we had the luxury of sitting at a comfortable sofa with a bottle of their own natural spring water as we tasted the menu of wines. Nice heavy pours were definitely appreciated and we left feeling as though we were family. Great experience!
It is quite a formal place. The wines are fantastic. Suggest you book if you are going to do a wine tasting at the weekend. Wine tasting is R100 pp.
Super lunch ! Real food great flavor great portions super wine
The drive up is gorgeous, and the estate is beautiful. Its not a place where you walk around and explore a whole lot, in fact I believe most of the vineyard is closed off. Thats not why youre there though. Five wine standard tasting for R100, eight wine premium for R200 (hint, go for the premium). Luke was the main one helping me, and was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. The other staff was no different. Reservations for the wine tasting werent required (I was a walk in, but I was also solo). Wines were all really, really good. Highly recommend a visit, its not too far from the Cape Town CBD (I took an Uber both there and back).
A cosy retreat from the surrounds bustle where you can enjoy fantastic white wines and a world-renowned dessert wine. Doesnt cater to large crowds, which makes it much more intimate with the sommelier.
Make sure to check out the menu on the day you intend to go, as it is subject to change. The changing menu is a good thing as you are ensured the freshest ingredients...but I’m sure you already know that. The pairing menu is great; wonderful wines with brilliant bistro style food. The staff are professional, friendly and very knowledgeable. The floor, kitchen and management work well together to ensure that your experience is consistently enjoyable and relaxed. *biased review as I personally know management and staff...just FYI. Still great though...just go and check it out, you won’t be disappointed.
Beautiful wine farm with a tasteful wine tasting room. Nice wines but not really my taste.
Amazing lunch experience, tucked in the middle of the estate. Food was excellent and the wine pairing was great. Will be back;
Very pretty wine tasting room (newly revamped). Good value for money tasting if only because you get to taste their famous Vin de Constance. Other than that, the pouring of the other wines was a bit stingy for an R80 wine tasting (refundable if you make a purchase of over R500 worth of wine). Friendly staff.
Inconvenienced. Poor service.Phoned ahead of time to make a booking on Saturday. It was communicated that wine tasting is open until 16:30. Arrived at 15:45. We were turned away. Our booking wasn’t checked nor did they explain why we couldn’t do a tasting.
Klein Constantia is a jewel in the Constantia Valley. Wines are fabulous and the passion of the people tasked with preserving this precious heritage is humbling.
Beautiful setting and magnificent exposed wine sellar, if you love white wine Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc then you have to try it. Cheese platter could have been better especially from a fine dining restaurant. Enjoyed the experience. Should have presented us with a list of their wines and prices. R100/head for wine tasting.
Celebrated our 7 year anniversary at Bistro at Klein Constantia and could not have asked for anything better. We were seated on the deck of the bistro, overlooking parts of the vineyard and lush greenery..., absolutely stunning. We were started off with celebratory champagne, then it was time to choose from their selected 3 course menu (they offer a 2 course menu as well). The 3 course meal we had was absolutely divine,...started our food journey with a prawn starter that was filled with flavours and perfectly balanced, we then moved on to mains which was the fish of the day and was blown away with the combination of flavours and will let the creme caramel dessert speak for itself, WOW and not to mention the friendly, amazing staff, especially Neville who served us and made it one for the books. Highly recommend, even if you just go for their stunning wine tasting, you will most definitely not be disappointed.
This is sooooo relaxing. Great foods in all restuaranta. The huge pine trees are to behold. Casual yet elegant. Lemon pannacotta to die for.. plenty open air and breeze.ask for cushions if youwish and blankets if u have a chill. Casual and more refine restuaranta. Wine tasting fun for all and and food wine too. Take a browse walk after your meal and relax. You deserve it. Ablutions could be looked at more often . Enjoy
Had a lovely wine tasting experience at Klein Constantia. Staff were incredibly insightful and helpful. We did the premium tasting which we thoroughly enjoyed
I had a great time...... getting myself a bottle of Vin de Constance for my birthday.... its out of this world.
Great food although the menu is limited to set menu. Great wine and fantastic setting.
The wine tasting was lovely with beautiful decor.
Heaven on earth. Even without wine.
Poor service. Not very friendly staff.
We had a lovely lunch. One vegetation option on starter and main, but thats more than most places, and so delicious. Lovely deck under trees, so glad we found this place. Will certainly be back.
Nice place, we did wine testing and purchase, then has a lunch here . People there also friendly. It brought us an awesome day!!Only a few regret is they have two red wines for options of purchase ,the balance are white wine and sweet wine . Hopefully in the future could be more red wine to be launched, cause the quality of wine are quite Good!
Terrible. We were finding amazing vineyards all over the cape and this has to be the worst customer service we have experienced in all of South Africa. Particularly, TASTY he was rude and arrogant, and made us feel so unwelcome. In addition the general manger was drunk and not helpful at all. We told him about Tasty and did not care. Worst place to get wine if you have limited time. The wine itself is great and recommend getting a bottle but not worth wasting anytime here.
It was really nice, and the history was great. It just seemed such a shame that the whole tasting was indoors when the grounds of the place are so beautiful (perhaps it was just the day we went along, as it was very quiet).
Such a beautiful setting, elegant restaurant with a good menu.Service could be better. And of course excellent wines
I thought the wine was excellent and will recommend anyone to have a tasting before you buy. I do feel (in my opinion) that the tasting area was lacking in a good atmosphere and sitting too far from one another. The bistro area on the other hand is a completely different experience with amazing atmosphere and beautiful scenery.
Very knowledgable staff
Spoke with Allan about the age and construction of Klein Constantia very friendly and helpful.
The staff here is incredibly knowledgeable. We were treated so very well. Would recommend as part of your Constantia tour.
Klein Constantia has a lot of history behind it, very interesting. The place is really beautiful. In the tasting room the environment is casual, and service is good. The wines are really good, we took 6 bottles, but they can ship to many other places as well.
Wonderful Valentines Dinner last night, superb venue, ambiance lovely, food always special, service, also as always, excellent.Think after dinner coffee would have been a great touch and would have liked to have had a spare plate for the empty prawn shells.
Had the 3 course wine pairing lunch. Was magnificent. Service was excellent. Highly recommended.
An excellent winery with pristine wine tasting and ambience. Despite the fact that the products are relatively overpriced, its worth a visit and investing in some treats and wine. You will never forget a visit to this place. Visit when you have a good amount of time on your hands so that you really enjoy yourself.
Service was amazing! Terry was genuine and knowledgable! Do give their Vin De Constance a try!Setting was beautiful.
The wines are great and the food is good. Personally I prefer bigger portions. The food paring was mean. The wines are not more than that given for tasting. The Bistro needs to step up . I am not alone in my view.
Excellent in every respect!Lovely setting, good food, attentive but not intrusive service. A little on the expensive side.
Fantastic setting, great service but dissapointing food. The ingredients were all beautiful and fresh, but ultimately the flavours were quite bland. Dissapointing because to be honest I expected a lot more of the cuisine. Still a nice lunch experience only without the fulfilling feeling of a great meal. If they had a top quality chef in the kitchen the place would be transformed.
Loved it. Sat and tasted for an hour in a lovely tasting room with views of the steel vats and a beautiful garden at the main entrance. Definitely didnt leave empty handed!!
Ooooof. Mistakes were made. Be careful, the premium tastings are R200! And prices are conviently omitted. Skip the premium and go for the basic. The Vin De Constance is amazing, but more transparency would be appreciated...
Hometown of the delicious Vin de Constance. Even Napoleons most favorite wine. Def go for a Wine tasting.
Great wine and superb service. Thanks Alan for your assistance
One of the oldest Wine Farms in the Cape, famous for the Vin De Constance among other things 🍾🥂
Wow a lovely experience with friendly and knowledgeable hostesses. Wines were ok, not my taste but good to try new ones. Excellent outing for a small group. Try to go early in the day so you have time to chill and chat.
The estate is tucked away among trees, so seems constantly cool. There has been abit of changes made, a new restaurant opened , even the tasting area looks more welcoming with its sofas. The wines are exceptional. Be lucky to try the world famous wine of Constantia, Vin de Constance
One of my favourite wine tasting places in Constantia. Great wine, red, white or rose. Not as modern as the neighbouring estates but the drive in is most beautiful. Love the place. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly.
Atmosphere is great. Food is excellent and portion size is great. Not too expensive . Seating is very comfortable.
Decent tasting. Good service. Small food portions.
Their deck overlooks the parking lot. No view, wine and food paring overpriced and of poor quality.
Totally amazing place, beautiful drive up to the main building, when inside the building is amazing beautifully designed open and light. Wine is fantastic but be sure to buy the dessert wine it is such a wonderful tasting wine. Everytime we go we buy the dessert wine some are 20 yrs old. Beautiful place
Home to the legendary Napoleon wine ... It must be good if a French king insisted on having it on his death bed. What better can I say .. beautiful place too
The sweet wine is amazing, but the rest did not make an impression on us really
Best winery in town! Awesome tasting session and wines of course! YNWA!
Paid for the reserve tasting which was really great. Not normally fans of Sauvignon Blanc but two of the ones they make were outstanding. Also Vin de Constance is a must try in the constantia area and theirs was solid
Superb wines and wonderful food in the bistro. Thoroughly enjoyed our experience.
Tendai was awesome. Knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Great wine and atmosphere
Great estate, with a great wine tasting. It is a bit more refined.it makes it special
Lovely place, well managed, and good quality food but limited choice, overall excellent!...
Beautiful tasting room. Cute dog family runs about the inside. Knowledgeable and friendly staff, not stuffy at all. Relaxed atmosphere. Wines are delicious.
Rating The Bistro, but finding it difficult to do so. Good food in a beautiful setting, but then you get ripped off.The waiter stated that he will bring use some bread and snoek pate while we peruse the menu. We assumed it was an amuse bouche, and so even though we did not order it we were charged for it. We ordered 500ml of wine but were charged for 2x250ml which is more expensive. I am sorry, but I cannot support a restaurant that deploys such underhand tactics.
