Had to be a 5 for me...Not just for the really good food, but the amazing service. We really enjoyed our starters and mains, in hindsight we ordered too much food but everything was delicious. The service was amazing, we were well taken care of and it was prompt and efficient. My wife needed the ladies, which is in the centre and not the restaurant itself and the waitress walked her there and then waited for her and walked her back.
Never disappoints!!!! Amazing freshly made pasta, service is great and the whole vibe is nice. Love the Italian music in the background. By far the best restaurant!
Always a wonderful experience. Waiters are friendly, food is absolutely delicious & lunchtime specials are incredible value for money. No corkage either. Hands down my favourite restaurant - I dream about their food!
Feeling like pasta? This place has an awesome, diverse, menu with lots of amazing pastas and corkage is only about R60. It is conveniently located in Durbanvilles village square which has safe parking and lots of other restaurants in the vicinity. Five stars well deserved for service, quality and price. Go treat yourself.
Had a great timeDelicious foodAnd friendly staffSurely a must visit
Everything was just OK. Not great, nor bad. Will I go there again, the answer is no. If u looking for really good Italian food, then no. I have been to better Italian restaurants, food-wise.The ambience is good, its stylish and the service is very good.
I visit this place about once a month as they have fantastic food and staff. Last night though, it seems theres a new manager there, who runs around micro-managing the staff that have been there for ages and know what theyre doing. I even overheard him criticizing one of the staff. This not only affects the happiness of staff, but also patrons, as it takes away from the relaxed and professional atmosphere Im used to here.
I saw this place on tik Tok and decided to try it. And it measured up to expectations. If youre a pasta lover I definitely recommend. They do a pasta in the middle of a huge wheel of cheese its delicious. And everything else we tried measured up too.Bread stick also are amazing.Service was also friendly and prompt.
Very good Porcheta Sunday, & equally good service from Andile.
They accomadated us even though we never had a reservation. The food was full of flavor and a generous portion, even chillies, garlic and parmasan was generous in portions. The chillies were hot which was a bonus no Tabasco sauce needed. Staff was so friendly and helpful will definitely be going back.
The food was a gourmet delight, really top class. My only gripe is that I booked via the website and although the booking was captured it felt like the table was squeezed in while there were unreserved tables? We were next to a type of serving shelf full of what looked like takeout boxes, not much of a view. The staff were super friendly and helpful when asked for info about the food. Will definitely return but in the hope of a better table. The restaurant also became uncomfortably hot before someone opened a second door that allowed a pleasant, refreshing breeze through.
The beef carpaccio was AMAZING. We also very much enjoyed the Carbonara. First bottle of wine - no corkage. Plus the whole vibe is beautiful.
Very nice food here. I liked the chicken livers, something special to it and my wife loved the pasta
Excellent food and service. Thanks Catrina for your service
Good. We only went there for a coffee with friends. But the food looked GREAT! Staff were very friendly and helpful! And the restaurant was covid compliant
Love this place. Had the Chicken parmesan today & it was amazing. Would definitely recommend it😁
Very nice atmosphere and quiet lovely place... gets louder as the evening progress, so I would recommend just before dinner time. Would recommend as a first date spot. The staff are friendly and the food is delicious.Complied with the covid regulations to the T.Had the Calzone and it was veee filling
Another good evening spent with friends. We were greeted well by the friendly hostess and seated promptly. We had a table for 8 pretty much in the middle of the restaurant but a bit closer to the kitchen. Nice setting and atmosphere with a full house. We had some starters and cocktails which were very nice. For mains we ordered a variety of dishes from the burger to the steak to the spaghetti and meatballs to the chicken and prawn pasta and the calamari. The steaks were done to perfection and tasted great. The pasta with chicken and prawns or scamorza, was very tasty and filling. Good service from David and with a full restaurant we only waited 25 minutes for mains. We were all happy with our mains. Dessert was simple and yum. Thanks again for a great evening.
My first time ever to this lovely restaurant. We were a big group and the staff handled the group very effectively. The good was great. Next time I would like to go just with my wife to better experience the ambience.
Ordered 2 pizzas for collection on Friday 09/10/2020. I did not check at collection as the Lupa seal was on the boxes. The pizzas overall were well below par considering the price bracket and its competitors. The one pizza I ordered was a ham, mushroom and garlic pizza. No garlic and there was hardly any filling on the pizza. My other pizza (avo, bacon, feta) had hardly any feta and bacon on.The pizzas were tasteless and I will not recommend takeaway pizzas to anyone. Perhaps, it is better for a sit down.It kind of felt like there was zero care in the application of the ingredients with everything stuffed into the middle.
Most incredible food, friendly SUPER service, order the carbonara- it’s served straight from a giant wheel of parmesan, unbelievable! Would give ten stars if we could.
Food was amazing. Better than when I go to Italy. For food 5+ stars. For service the only reason I dropped a star. We were there on an early 17h30 Friday night booking as we have 2 young boys. The initial service was quick and crisp with food coming quickly (as above delicious). After mains arrived there were very long periods waiting for the dessert and bill. Seems there were only 2 waiters at 7pm while the restaurant was almost full. When we left 3 more waiters joined. Strangely when my son asked later why we didnt get breadsticks the waiter noted only after 6pm, we were there at 17h30.
We went there for lunch after reading good reviews. I must say the food was average. Small portions and expensive for Pasta. We had the Calamari and Fettuccine Carbonarathat they finish it off at the table. Was not at all what we expected.definately not what the pictures portrays.I think is overated. Will definitely not be back.
Love to sit at a booth. Pasta is really good. Faveroute so far is the pasta dish called Lupa. Nice and cosy atmosphere. Make a booking. They are very busy.
Visted on 30 Nov at 7pm. Our starter and desert courses were exceptional. But I can not say the same for our main courses, my Brown Butter Butternut Ravioli was probably the worst Ive had in a long time. The butter was not browned at all, and it was basically a butter soup. The Ravioli itself was also greatly undercooked and 3 of them had burst during cooking, meaning they were not constructed and sealed correctly. My wife also had very hard spinach stalks in her hake dish. Then we were sitting next to a table of 4very loud woman, who really disrupted the romantic dinner we were having. The floor managers and waiters didnt do anything about it really, even though other tables complained about them too. They were banging on the tables, getting up and doing silly dances, and extremely loud that we couldnt hear each other speak. I dont mind people having a good time, but then go to a bar or club for this sort of thing. Disappointed that nothing was done about it by staff. That said, our waitress, Khuliswa was brilliant and very attentive. Overall, I was very disappointed, as I heard the food was to die for, and especially considering its Italian, a Pasta dish should not be the worst thing we had all night. Ill come again to give them a second chance, and hopefully the atmosphere is improved and they get Pasta right this time....
Lupa has the best gluten free pizza and pasta in the country!!! The food is always fantastic but we keep coming back because of the staff! The service there is always fantastic and staff members at Lupa have become almost like our second family! If you are looking for wholesome food and old school quality service - this is the place!
Best pizza & pasta. Highly recommend! Especially the Amy and the bolognaise pasta!
We found this lovely place in Durbanville and what a nice setting. We read about the pasta-in-cheese cooking and found the Truffled Carbonara on the menu (which we just had to try). Also had a variety of starters and everything, from booking online to being welcomed, seated and served in a friendly atmosphere was great.
Amazing pizza. Beautiful restaurant. Friendly staff
Absolutely lovely, we were made to feel very special for our anniversary. The food was delicious and the service excellent. A wonderful experience.
If you love restaurants that specialise in a specific cuisine, then Lupa should be on the top of your list.Hand made pasta tends to be one of lifes pleasures that should be appreciated more and I really hope the art form endures for many more years. The atmosphere is inviting, the layout of the rrstaurant is modern with a touch of old school.I love a place with good food and a story. Who wants to eat at a mega corp like spur? Its mundane and boring, go try new things and new places.Yes that photo is a big block of cheese, which they heat up and swirl your hand made pasta in and then place the cheesy-pasta goodness on your plate.Lupa gets a 5 Raviolis from me
My 1st time at Lupa, great atmosphere and service. Had a pizza, wasnt too bad, wife raved about her pear and gorgonzola salad. Took our own wine as they charge corkage.
We were a group of 6 that went for a birthday celebration. The person celebrating a birthday gets a discount on their bill - how awesome! The vibe in the restaurant is great. You immediately feel welcome. Service was quick even though they were very busy. The food was delicious. From the foccacia for starter to the mains of pizzas and pastas - not one of us complained about the food. They have an Italian menu and what I liked about it was the fact that they dont have 100s of dishes. The dishes that they make, they make well! We had desert as well - my chocolate fondant was heaven in a cup! Definitely going back.
I decided to celebrate my birthday dinner at Lupa Osteria, dinner booked for 6.30pm. Upon arrival entering the restaurant the floor manager call at 6.30pm to advise that the restuarant doesnt have GAS and can only offer pizzas for dinner. I find this totally unacceptable, 1stly timing they knew since 5pm NO GAS, so now ita dinner time and I have no alternative, other restuarants around fully booked, so needless to say I have NO OPTION but to have pizza for dinner. I feel that this is a tactic of this restaurant to get people to stay to call.so late and give me this information, with lockdown timing I couldnt make alternative dinner arrangements. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE
I brought along 5 friends & they all had fish which they thoroughly enjoyed. The Calamari I ordered was tough & not very tasty at all. Chips not the greatest either. The sweet tasting sauce did not blend well with the dish. I was expecting something savoury, not sweet. Then to be embarrassed by the waiter who came back to tell us his tip was short was the worst thing that could happen. We were all pensioners & I ended up paying the shortfall plus more with the change I had in my purse, leaving me with no change for the parking attendant. A very 😡 embarrassing day to say the least. Hope you can train your staff better.
A second visit to this restaurant which is an excellent eatery but not a true Osteria in the traditional sense. Its much more than that.An excellent meal as before but it was very empty, a little disappointing for a Saturday lunch.
Great food & atmosphere. Fillet perfectly prepared. Service needs work but all round very good value.
As always good service and delicious food
Food was good and so was our waitress.
Waited over an hour for Pizzas and only some of the food arrived while other people waited. Waiter gave the meat calzone to the vegetarian at the table. Food was good at least.
I had the Avo Balsamic Fillet with Risotto. Beyond amazing! The Avo, fillet and risotto makes a perfect union. This is not a steakhouse steak with side dishes - the components fuse together when eaten together. Risotto is perfect (not mushy rice that most people think is risotto) and is the star of the dish!
5 star food and service. Very affordable 2- and 3-course menu available during January. February? Reliable safety protocols followed. Will definitely visit soon again.
Carpaccio was good quality and very well presented. Pasta dishes were incredibly rich but delicious! Paired with a good red wine, the chef is doing a good job! Would highly recommend this place!
Went with 2 friends for lunch today.....so enjoyed their special lunch menu...calamari highly recommended....and how sensible that you can buy red or white wine in a 250ml carafe.....we will be back!....as a very varied menu...looking forward to trying their pasta....
Is there 10 stars??This place is awesome. They made a little mistake with our reservation. Instead of today they made it 23.06.2019. Ha ha. But its my friends birthday? But within less than 5 minutes we had champagne and a nice table.Food is outstanding. When we asked for the dessert menu. The manager gave us desserts on the house. And when we paid,my friends meal were on the house seeing that it was his birthday.Never expected so much treatment and spoils!Thank you so much Lupa Osteria. We already discussed our next visit and meals.
Food delicious, service, top notch.
The best pasta around! Service is always great! Just love this place.
I heard so much about the cheese wheel pasta, but unfortunately it was a little disappointing. The portion was on the small side for the price charged and the pasta, not quite al dente (just 2 minutes more would have probably done the trick). The flavours were well balanced and certainly a winner. Service was somewhat lacking as the restaurant was full and seems to few staff to cope with the high demand.
Since lockdown weve been a bit hesitant to do the whole sit-down-eating-thing, but after hearing about their food we took a chance, and yes it was well worth it! We shared the Massimo Calzone and Tagliolini in the Grana Padano cheese wheel - was out of this world! Will definitely go again - no second thoughts.
Great pasta as in really great pasta. Great service. Dessert a bit disappointing.
The best experience we have ever had. Drinks came fast. Waiter (King Mugwagwa) was absolutely friendly, as well as rest of the staff. Food was brought out hot and together to the table. No issues at all. Was so nice that we dipped the pizza in the Alfredo sauce. Was absolutely devine and we cannot praise Lupa staff enough. Thank you for making a terrible restaurant day experience in one of magic. Ps. Love the straw idea...people need to experience for themselves❤
Great stuff. Good service and good food.👍
Great food and service..
Been there a couple of times and always received excellent service and value.
Great service and even better food. The veal was delicious.
One of the best ever pizzas I have had!!!!
The most delicious home made pasta. Great service
Great food. Really good quality experience, cosy atmosphere with knowledgeable and trained staff. We had 2gluten free pizzas, a standard pizza and a chicken main. Everything was served on time, hot, tasty and beautifully prepared. Prices are also very affordable for what you get.
Good pasta, its a little bit loud and not the place to have a quiet romantic dinner. Also not very covid aware.
Hmmm, Amazing place! Amazing food! Pasta was superb and waiter was spot on. Definitely coming back for the sinfully cheesy parmesan wheel pasta!
The pizza was really great, the service friendly and the beer coldThats why it is one of my favorite Italian restaurants
Amazing food, amazing atmosphere, amazing service! One of my favorite places for any occasion!
It would be great if resturants could have For the not so hungry section on their menu. Food was great, but far to much, took half home for dinner.
Ahh... Finally a pizza where the toppings arent afraid of getting close to the edges... Great pizzas.
Absolutely love the food
Heaven on a plate! Great service and the food was AMAZING
It was a nice place to eat and we had a great time. 🤗
Cozy place with good food. The right place for a pleasant evening
2.5 stars. It started off so well. Friendly welcome and with lots of exciting items on the menu. The prawn risotto was the saltiest meal of my life, (and I luuurrv salt, but not that much). Didn’t help when the cherry tomatoes are left out completely. Major fail! If you put asparagus on the list of ingredients, perhaps serve the whole asparagus rather than a few shavings lost in the rice. Otherwise a really tasty dish. Wolfed down, too hungry to bother complaining, but having a minor heart tremor from the salt attack 🥺
