I dislike giving anything less than 5 stars. Our waiter was lovely tonight. He made us laugh and brought a very nice atmospher. We were the only couple sitting outside tonight from 6.30pm. Id really appreciate you giving this man a raise, or at least a handshake for carrying your restaurant on such a pedal.

A nice spot in Obs with good meals. The scenery is lovely and it is close to bars, restaurants and shops.

So, I had never visited OBZ Cafe, even though I spend a lot of time in this area. One night, I am greeted by these friendly, welcoming and smiling faces that are standing outside the Cafe. I think ok, I am hungry lets see whats on the menu. Even though it was already 10:30pm, they were more than happy to make me a pizza. I have to say, I am very picky over pizza and this pizza was delicious. It was made with fresh dough, great cheese and toppings, I had the Tropicana. Thin crust, done in a clay oven, just perfect ever bite. Their menu is filled with lots of Italian food choices and options. Do yourself a favour and bring yourself to OBZ Cafe for a great meal, good drinks and welcoming friendly people.

Always vibey, Obz cafe is one cool place to hang out for the chilled personalities.

I had been in and out of OBZ Cafe since its start, chasing after the pizza and still they effortlessly serve absolute deliciousness on a plate. I can highly recommend OBZ Cafe for that welcome stop in vibe anytime of the day and know that as they wave you goodbye you left with a super full tummy and noting but satisfied after a super meal.. . .if you in OBZ area, pull in and stop by, you wont be disappointed.

Visited the place today for lunch with a friend. Chilled vibe, great service and food!. Wish they could add Sweet Potato fries as a extra side on their menu though. Definitely coming back !!!!😋😁

Best pizza in Observatory. Square pizzas. There are quite a few pizza joints in Obs but none are as good as these. Not even close !

The food and drinks were great here and well priced. A good selection of fairly standard food, pictured is the beef nachos and jalapeno peppers. Service was great as well. However Im 99% sure the food poisoning I experienced the day after eating here was from their beef nachos so proceed with caution if youre planning to eat here.

Great service but the food wasnt out of this world. Burger was a little dry but their sauces are amazing. Pasta and calamari could have used more seasoning

One of the best pizzas Ive had in a long time, if you like thin base. The service was horrendous, super slow. From taking our orders, serving drinks and food, to bringing the bill and eventually the card mechine. We were the second last group there while we waited to pay and after paying they made an error saying we short paid however they never calculated correctly. Such a pity as the venue is really nice and the food was great. On street parking can be a problem and please be careful of the homeless street people begging.

Obz Cafe now has a new menu and layout. Unfortunately I cant say it has improved, first time there they almost charged us for the drinks that were supposed to be for free according to the specials. Second time they didnt even let us take a seat, we got there 8:30pm and the kitchen would close at 9pm. The team has room to improve when it comes to customer management.

Wonderful service and the food was really good. Good place to head out for with the mates or a date night. Nothing too memorable though. If a friend were to ask about it, I wouldnt have anything bad to say. Their pizza was good.

Cool place to hang out with friends

This place was excellent before lockdown. I dont know what has happened, but the service is really bad now. The server didnt have basic stuff like a can of Coke. He was going next door to buy whatever people were ordering. Getting drinks was such a struggle we ended up going next door. I hope they improve and get back to the standard they had because its a lovely place.

I never leave negative reviews online but this is the exception as future patrons should be given a heads up.I used to love Obz Cafe, and always ordered the same pizza on the menu. This time, the pizza was a totally different style pizza with hard cheese, missing half the toppings listed in the description on the menu, despite the same menu and name as before.The service was slow despite the place being almost empty, and our waitor was unfriendly.We had to remind him multiple times about our drinks orders and there seemed to be no management present.There were flies all over the show and the whole vibe was bad and different to the loved Obz Cafe of before. Sad to bid farewell to the beloved Obz Cafe, such a pity.

Like their coffee and the small breakfast of scrambled eggs were delicious. They are located in Observatory lower main road.

Fantastic vibe, interesting menu and great service. Drink menu is rather limited though, but well priced, big portions of delectable food makes this little spot well worth the visit!

Staff was efficient and friendly however the nachos were stale, and hardly any toppings. It also didnt come with sour cream as mentioned on the menu. They didnt have decaf coffee, and then burnt the milk for my hot chocolate.

The most uncomfortable restaurant experience of my life. When we arrived the place was empty but we looked past it even though it was like 12:30 (big mistake). The service was terrible. The two people working in the whole restaurant spent more time chatting with their friends that showed up than working on our meal. They didnt have half of the ingredients for the dishes we asked for. The chocolate milkshake tasted like banana and the mango freezo started separating into oils and water within minutes of it being served. We realised something was fishy so we tried to cancel our order but the chicken strips were already being made (those were edible at least) and upon finishing our meal and asking for the bill we were told their card machine doesnt work (surely you let customers know that when they enter a restaurant?). So we had to spend another 30 minutes in agony while waiting for the atm across the street to be fixed. In short I did not tip.PS. There was a concerning number of flies buzzing around for no apparent reason and my friend is also sure she heard a rat screaming(in pain) in the hallway to the bathroom.

I have been coming to Obz Cafe since I was a child. To say I am disappointed in the level of service and the food is an understatement. The vibe is amazing but that’s where it ends.

Very slow service waiters need more training

Its always my go to place for their vibe and great service but last week Saturday I was disappointed. I ordered coffee and tea they did not have it they had to go to Jerry to order. They were not busy but we had to wait almost 10 min to ask for coffee and milk.

The place has great service, the food was exquisite, their menu is straight to the point and simple, their choice of wines pair perfectly with the food...Jason the waiter really made our night, we definitely returning soon.

Observatory has an alternative, bohemian vibe and a large student population. Shops in Victorian buildings sell used vinyl, vintage clothes and New Age books, and there are plenty of cool cafes, global eateries, laid-back pubs, sports bars and indie concert venues. Obz is a classic institution, offering burger and pizza fair in bistro-style setting. Love it!

Waited 45 minutes for a pizza that was not fit for human consumption at all- uncooked base, scrappy toppings, barely any cheese and some slices none at all, to then be told the pizza oven wasnt working properly and the pizza was made on the stove top! Every single staff member from the waiters to the chefs were busy on their phones.

Had amazing meal stuff always friendly will be back again abut the atmosphere has change alot especially the deco isnt nice at all

Flip!! the burger was like a true real delicious yum burger. Sort of like how you dream a great burger should taste. Juicy munchy on a brioche bun made with extra care.

Best Pizzas in Obs

Excellent service, good food, good prices.

I will be honest. It didnt start out well. The first 4 drinks on tap that I wanted werent available. So I wasnt too happy, especially considering it was a Friday afternoon just before happy hour. However, the saving grace was the brilliant, enthusiastic, and mindful waiter that served me. I unfortunately dont remember his name but he deserves a raise for his attitude. Apart from the service, the burger I ordered was impeccable (Smokey Joe). Id recommend it to anyone coming to this place. The quality of the patty used, in combination with a slightly denser than usual brioche bun makes a world of difference. Ill definitely be returning soon.

Best ever chicken and pasta

Obz Cafe used to be one of our favorite places. Its ambiente always was laid back and cool. I was looking forward to visit it again after lockdown level 3 went to level 2. Alas, I was very very disappointed. It was a cold atmosphere, draughty, the toilets were unspeakably dirty, nothing worked, the doors were unhinged, no soap (in COVID-times!). The young man serving us was very friendly and efficient, and if it wasnt for him, I would have left immediately. Please could you restore the Cafe to its old glory?

The service was absolutely excellent (and has been every time I have been there). The waiter who served us was extremely warm and welcoming, therefore offering great service. The food was delicious and offered some quite unusual choices, which were actually quite good. The food was hot and cooked well. I would definitely recommend it for anyone who is looking for something new to try on a date or with friends!

Bacon Avo &Feta Burger is the best

This restaurant is set in the quiet area of the Observatory Cape Town. The bohemian feel is a place for backpackers and travellers to congregate. The staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful with a cold glass of water as you get seated. The menu is varied and set to accommodate all prices and tastes. The peri peri chicken livers with toasted ciabatta bread is a tasty snack. And the Lindt chocolate brownie a tasty after especially with a coffee.

Its okay for a quick meet up, nothing that stands out about it

Good food. They didnt have at least 2 of their menu beers on tap. The atmosphere was also a little quite. Way more people next door but otherwise brilliant service!

This is nice spot. Perfect location, in terms of accessibility. The view from inside is quite good thanks to the huge see through glasses. The staff is friendly and their services are good. Good for small conversations and small meetings. A little bit too hot when inside but maybe it was just for the day I was there. Will definitely go again!!

Off the beaten track for something different

There was an awesome, relaxed atmosphere. Theres great variety in drinks, which are decently priced. I found the food a little too pricey, but it was good nonetheless.Im pretty sure our waiter forgot about us, but the waiters that helped once called were very friendly.

The drinks and most milkshakes are great. I had their ribs but they werent so good, kinda stiff and the marginated didnt sink in enough. But my friends enjoyed the pizza.
