Its a government hospital. Theres only so much one can expect. Considering the constraints of the public health system, this hospital functions remarkably well.

3 weeks ago, my daughter went to the wesfleur day hospital with severe abdominal pains. They did some tests, one of which was a pregnancy test and it came out positive. They put her on a drip and told her that her womb is like that of a pregnant woman but that they cannot see any fetus on the scan. They told her that she might be going through a miscarriage(she was bleeding). I was baffled as to why they would send her home if she was going through a miscarriage. They then discharged her that same day without any medication. She went back to the hospital the following week with severe abdominal pains again. This time their pregnancy test came out negative. They send her home again without any medication and told her that they could see nothing wrong with her. That same week she went to a private doctor, who diagnosed a bladder infection. The pregnancy test he did showed a positive result. He gave her some medication and told her to tell the hospital staff to scan for a ectopic pregnancy if the pain persists. On Wednesday she went to the clinic in Mamre as she could hardly move because of the pain and bleeding. The sister there immediately contacted Wesfleur and told them that my daughter needs to go to Somerset hospital and that they should give her a referral and get an ambulance to take her there. She was put on a drip and was given some blood as she had lost a lot of blood. At Somerset hospital she was wheeled into theatre that same afternoon and the embryo/fetus was removed from her fallopian tube along with a section of the tube. She also received more blood as she had lost a lot of blood during the operation. I feel like screaming at everyone at that hospital. When she told me about the pregnancy, the bleeding and the severe pains, my mind immediately went to an ectopic pregnancy. What kind of medical staff are they that they could not think of that possibility??? I really feel like screaming someones head off. Things could have been so much worse because of their ignorance!!!!! I thank God for His grace and His mercy.
