The Fireplace Company have just fitted a new Fire place for my wife and family just in time for the cold spell. I must say that the way the team went about installing this complete system in an existing chimney was a pleasure as there were complications, which were tackled and resulted in a lovely fire. If awful after-sales service is your thing, then this is the company for you.I had a sweep and service of my fireplace (bought a couple of years ago from the same company) and showed the technician that the door on my fireplace wasnt sealing properly and drawing in a lot of air. I put this down to general usage and the fact that a fireplace and its moving parts expand and contract multiple times during its life, potentially causing misalignment over time. The technician took a cursory glance at the issue before shrugging and saying he thinks the door handle is bent and not able to be tightened enough to close the gap. Beyond this no suggestions were made on how to proceed. A few days later I paid for the service and let the guys at the company know that I wanted to fix the problem with my fireplace door not closing and what, if any, the solution may be.Approximately a full three weeks later I received a phone call from Eddie of the Fireplace Company. From the outset his attitude towards me was hostile, aggressive and rude. He demanded payment for the service (which had already been made several weeks prior) and wanted to know why the issue of my door was only being raised now - bearing in mind Id already showed the technician the problem while he was conducting the service. Eddie clearly had no respect for me as a customer and simply insisted that the fault with the door was my own, the shaft to the handle must be bent and preventing the door from drawing up tightly, making a positive seal. The only solution is to spend an additional R600 on a brand new handle. This entire conversation was conducted in a rude and hostile manner, which was completely unwarranted. An administrative issue on the part of Eddie and the guys at the company is hardly the fault of the customer.After the conversation I decided to get out my spanners and take a look at the handle myself. I was easily able to disassemble and remove it, which incidentally was not bent. With a small adjustment of the door hinge and the nuts on the handle, I was able to get the door sealing tightly and as it should be. This took me all of 10 minutes to accomplish. Why the technician wasnt able to do this I do not know, and why Eddie refused to believe the problem couldve been anything other than a bent handle for an extra R600 I also do not know.I would only consider the Fireplace Company as somewhere to purchase a fireplace, but for after-sales service I strongly urge any potential customers to look elsewhere.

We received expert advise from Eddie Carney who was very patient with some nervous first time buyers. He listened to our needs, the physical limitations of the site and highlighted the models he felt were appropriate to choose from. We made our choice, received an invoice and paid the amount required. On the day agreed on installation, the team arrived, laid out protection material and quietly got on with the job. The installation was extremely neatly done and was completed by instruction on how to operate and get the best results from our stove.Now let the cold come so that we can put the stove to the test.

Not impressed with the service. After a week of trying (numerous times) to get a booking for a chimney sweep, no call back, zero feedback. When I did get hold of the person at Fireplace, I only got attitude. Fortunately Fireplace is not the only service provider in this field. The 1star is only to be able to post.

Rudi installed 2x fireplaces for us, one in an existing chimney, the other a complete new fireplace. What impressed me most was how prompt my enquiries was answered and how fast I received feedback. Not impressed with the service. Got there at 15:45 - the guy did not even get out of his chair to assist me. Give him the measurements and ask for a quote - he said it is now too late but he will send it the next day. 2 weeks later and no response. Not even worth a star - but need one to be able to post
