Amazing, we had dinner here recently and what an amazing place. One suggestion Ill give you now, is make a booking. We waited for a while at the bar upstairs, had great cocktails and bubbly, and finally were seated on the ground floor. The food was really great, service was spot on. The owner came over to chat us up about the history and concept of the venue. We ended up downstairs for the live jazz which was a perfect end to the evening. Id definitely recommend coming here, and well be back as soon as were in CPT again.

What a nice place but unfortunately the manager is very rude. I commented on something very nicely and he was shouting at me. Thats not a way to treat client. This guy will ruin this place if he stays there. I heard a lot of bad comments about him. I understand working under stress but that cant be an excuse. We all work under stress and we come here to enjoy in the weekend so we dont need more bad vibes. I suggest to fire him or to give him a course of how to talk to clients

The food was delicious and well prepared. Nice MCC selection however just really unfortunate that we were only told upon arrival that we would be sitting at the entrance area and they cannot close the door, so we were freezing. If i was told when booking, i would not have taken my guests here. i understand you need patrons but a little honesty goes a long way.

Its a great place for meetings especially if you are trying to impress in a subtle way... went there for drinks and was impressed by the ambiance and the decor which really work very well together, it is truly a hidden gem in the city. I will definitely be back two thumbs up to the ACS!

The absolute dopest hangout and dancing vibe you’ll ever go to. This place has a cosy and comfortable look unlike anything I’ve ever experienced, they serve the best drinks and tapas and the service is beyond amazing. Everyone is who comes here is happy and friendly and free. NB, You might find yourself dancing with a stranger!

My first time here. We only came for drinks. Interior makes you feel like a super sport hero from way back when, entering a prestigious clubhouse. The vibe is very trendy and the views from the top balcony could add to your experience. Will go back again and take a few friends with me. The food menu looks scrumptious and I cant wait to came and try it out. Until I tasted the food Ill keep it on four stars for now ....

Spent a month in Cape Town. Athletic club def one of my favourite spots, came here a few times. Excellent decor, great drinks, cool crowd, good food, fun programming.Thurs nights live jazz in basement - super intimate and very cute. Make a great date night. Fri night - vinyl disco / soul beats in the basement, mainstream upstairs. Definitely recommend as a tasteful late night spot.

A wonderful restaurant and bar with an authentic sports clubs feel: a must!Although we had not made reservations, the staff were kind enough to give the 3 of us a table in the front of house. The decor is tasteful, inviting and sets a regal tone. Although the menu is seasonal and limited, we enjoyed our choices and the variety of the food. The wine list was extensive, and the cocktails (especially the Old Fashioned) were excellent. Upstairs is a balcony where drinks can be enjoyed amongst larger groups.

Had a wonderful time for dinner. Food was well presented, tasty with hearty portions. Loved the music they played in the background. Our server was very attentive and friendly. Would definitely go back again.

The Athletic Club & Social is a really cool restaurant and bar. Bars, I should say, as there are several. Its tempting to heed the siren call of the first bar as you walk in, but be patient. Take the time to check out the downstairs bar and lounge, where you may find a DJ laying down some cool beats. Pop upstairs for another bar, several lounges and a large balcony. The food in the restaurant wasnt bad, in fact, the only reason Im giving it 4 stars instead of 5 was that the ice from the downstairs bar stinks like an old freezer. The barman told me the ice was fine and that its made from filtered water, which made it more annoying because it doesnt matter what you use to make it, if youre going to put it in a stinky freezer.

Such a stunning place. The beautiful interior is worth a visit alone, and the drinks are price reasonable for a top end venue.However, on my highly anticipated first visit I was confronted again with a disturbing Cape Town trend. Manipulative staff.I ordered the 1988 cocktail. From the description on the menu its a Brandy forward, short, bitter drink. See menu. But eventually when it arrived, after everyone at my table moved on to the second round already, the waiter plopped a milky White-Russian-look-alike drink, in a champagne flute, in-front of me. I informed the waiter that this is not the drink I order. He then called the bartender who told me that the menu is wrong and that this milky concoction is actually the 1988. Obviously the guy was lying through his teeth, hoping I wont now otherwise. Just be honest and tell me you dont know how to make the damn thing, or do not have the ingredients at hand. Honesty can go a long way. Lately its becoming more difficult to trust Cape Towns service staff.The hustle is real and fringing on desperate.Sneaking extra item on the bill, pouring the most experience tequila if not specify otherwise, bring older more expensive vintage wines when unspecified, are just some of the things Ive notice more regular at various places around town.Devious up-selling is rife and I would advice everyone to double-check their bill before paying.At the end I had to settled on a negroni, which was top notch.

Loved this new club. Came here for drinks late on a Saturday night after noticing the crowds from a cab on the way to Shimmy. Really cool vibe - seems it used to be (or still is) some kind of athletic club. Decor is amazing, a talented mix of contemporary and classic. Fixtures, furniture and art is both modern and traditional.Service is top notch and the whiskey is where its at. Check out the lower floor, they had a DJ spinning actual records. On the top floor they had small rooms and a large outdoor terrace where most of the crowd congregated. We stuck to old fashioneds, which were muddled and mixed perfectly.

Go for the decor and vibes but while the food is good the portions are tiny as hell. I had the linefish main and two desserts and swear couldve polished it all off in like 15 minutes. Super friendly staff and everything else is real gucci tho.

Cosy spot. Loved the upstairs outside bar. Great place to have a sundowner and watch the sunset. The decor, lighting and spacing combined creates a warm and romantic atmosphere. We ordered a variety of tapas and each and every dish was delicious. What a delightful place. I would definitely recommend this spot.

Very nice place but very bad experience with Anthony the manager. He barks at his clients. He gives me the impression that Im working for him, rude person for a beautiful place like that , wrong person for the wrong job for the wrong place ! Change that man , he is suffocating the clients !!

Great service, Felicity!! Lovely decor and vibe.My chosen meal was fish with red peppers... I thought sweet red peppers, but no... it was unexpectedly far too hot for me to eat. I think that the menu should have warned me. When it became unbearable, my meal was taken to the chef, who verified that it was as it should be. That was it... meal gone. I did, however get a glass of milk to quell the fire in my mouth.My friends were also not overly impressed with their food.Pic is my delicious cauliflower starter.

So glad I finally got the chance to come here. Great location, very central. Loved the chilled music and the cocktails were delicious! The service was very friendly, although I think it might be understaffed due to our order being wrong twice. Love the vibe here, very classy, but nothing over the top or too pretentious. Will definitely be coming back!

Great views of De Waterkant, friendly staff, we received a warm welcome and a great service. Although we had to wait to get a table, we didnt have to wait very long. The jazz area downstairs is a bit small.

Drinks and decor are good. Food was gross (cheese board) for some reason they think tossing the cheese over coal adds to the flavor. Olives weren’t great either. We felt quite ill afterwards. Service sadly wasn’t good as the rest of the reviews seem to mention. Had to ask for bill twice and it wasn’t even busy yet. As nice as the location and decor is don’t think we will be going back for awhile

Id give these guys a 10 if there were more stars to give. My boyfriend treated me on my birthday and we had the most amazing time here. The ambiance, the food, the decor, our waitron, everything played its part in making this night truly magical. The massive olives were my favourite! We will definitely return.

The place is not Covid compliant, the upstairs bar lady always looks so miserable and unfriendly and last night I was overcharged a whole 120 bucks on two double gins. I certainly dont recommend this place on a busy night or ona quiet night because that bat lady always makes you feel like you dont belong there or that she dont want to be there.

I like it the vibe is great the people too and there is different sections to sit in you get to sit in the sofa inside or in the outside balcony

Great social place to have drinks and a light meal.

The interior is stunning. We had the lamb which was tender and flavousome. A lovely experience!

Dont go to a restaurant where neither the ched or manager understand what a different cut sisI will keep this short. I ordered the Kleftiko, which to them is the lamb shoulder. They served me rack, and a very fatty rack at that. I complained, the manager and chef told me that it was The lower part of the shoulder. In addition to this his tone was confrontational and proceeded to take my food away from me.Seriously, will make sure to tell anyone never to go there.

We went as a group of eight on a Friday night. It was recommended that we get a selection of dishes to share amongst us - this is definitely the way to go! 4 starters, 5 mains, 4 desserts was more than enough. Reading the menu, it was instantly clear that this is not a burger and chips kind of place. Perfect service, excellent wines and cocktails. The food... Every bite was a delight! The chef was able to take the most mundane foods (sardines, cauliflower, banana bread, etc) and turn them into flavours that redefined how these foods should taste. Even the butter with the assorted bread basket was incredible. Best dining experience Ive have had in a long while.

What an amazing space. Beautiful decor, lighting and set up. Drinks are quite good and the food is quite eclectic. Nothing to really sink your teeth into.Drop downstairs to the Trophy Room for a great surprise. A cute little bar, with a DJ spinning vinyl and make it like it was the 70s. Loved it.

My table was served by Ophola. I have lived in Cape Town for seven years and go out several times per week; this was hands down the best service Ive received anywhere in South Africa, ever. Staff were extremely attentive and provided tap water, service and accommodated requests before I could even get words out of my mouth. They were intuitive on what our table needed before we could make the request and caring on options we might prefer. Aside from service, five stars for brilliant food and what I hope has become an award winning interior design. Congratulations.
