Luxurious coffee, freshly ground and very well made by the talented Baristas. Schoon has a mouthwatering pastry and sweet treat selection, which pairs well with a coffee. I recommend the Pasta de Nata. Everything else on the menu is top notch as well. Their breakfast dishes including eggs are amazing. Plain scrambled eggs on a slice of my choice of their freshly baked bread is as good as it gets - best scrambled eggs I have ever had. It is such a vibey atmosphere, cozy, small, modern ,rustic and great to sit and work on your laptop, have a quick casual meeting, brunch, coffee date. You can sit inside as well as outside, you can also buy take aways and they are on Mr Delivery too! What a blessing. The staff are respectful and professional. The service is great and so are the prices.

Thought I would treat myself to an Almond Croissant and very disappointed. Well covered with very nicely toasted almonds but that was all. Heavy and chewy with no almond paste. Next time I will go to Spar Lions Square and get two for the price of one and wont be upset. Pity as your breads are amazing.

I used to go here at least once a week when I still lived in Somerset West. Great food, coffee, and service! Very attentive, too, if I was in a hurry they would serve quickly and if I wanted to chill and read a book they were welcoming of that, too. Lovely little place!

Very small and cosy restaurant, bakery and coffee shop serving an appetizing selection of breakfast and light meal options as well as a waist wrecking array of baked sweet treats. The real gem here is the bread. Schoon bakes a variety of breads that are amongst the very best in the greater Somerset West/Stellenbosch area. Some breads are only available on particular days of the week. Drop in, have coffee and buy bread! Note that they do not accept cash.

Superb breakfasts and coffee. Of course the bread is fresh, soft and tasty. French toast is not too sweet, and the mascarpone is an excellent addition. The scrambled eggs and bacon on sourdough is also fantastic, loved the sundried tomato on it. Quaint and cosy inside, with a good atmosphere.

In an effort to find something positive to say I would congratulate the Barista for his artistry.Unfortunately for everything else I will avoid this place even when I’m hangry. The service was pathetic. The Covid sanitation protocols are non existent. The food, well presented but nothing to rave over and incredibly expensive. After leaving this place I struggled to understand how they have so many return customers. Is this one of those instances where the high price draws certain people?

A little gem that is often forgotten in this area of abundant restaurants and coffee shops. The other advantage for us working folks is that they open at 7 oclock in the morning. We were also not able to order croissants today because of unavailibility. After reading other reviews mentioning this, I was wondering why management doesn t address this stock problem?

Best (strong) cappuccino in town! The ideal kick-start to a Saturday morning shopping spree in Bright Street, Somerset West, Western Cape. The sourdough bread looks, smells and tastes delicious! Breakfast is not too shabby either!!

An
Review №78

An extremely disappointing experience. I ordered avo hummus on sourdough, with two medium poached eggs and an almond cappuccino. The waiter forgot the cappuccino, returned 10/15 minutes later to say there is no avo or hummus, and when I finally got my breakfast, the plate was so small it was impossible to eat from, and the eggs cold and so hard I could could have bounced them off the wall. The place would be fantastic if you fix these basic things.

Had breakfast there which was lovely, but the coffee was cold. Also took home some pastries - the caramel on my cinnebun was burnt and there were eggshells in my chocolate cheese cake which to be honest didnt really taste like anything. Really disappointed as Ive always loved Schoon. Would think twice before going again.

Review №86

There is no better place in this town for baked goods. Hands down. Food is great. I go there often. The inconsistency of staff service is what gets me down though. I ordered an almond coffee from them in the week and the milk was clearly off, but the staff insisted it wasnt. The coffee had a horrible sour taste, but instead of just listening to me, and I drink only almond milk for a few years now, they still charged me for it and wouldnt even taste the coffee. They gave me some milk to taste, I told them that it tastes terrible and that it is off. I dont think that the staff ever drink almond milk in any case so they wouldnt know. But instead of just taking it off the bill, even though I go there often and I didnt even drink the coffee, I am a woman so what do I know? Staff were not interested in listening to me.
