Every time I come here I am blown away by the quality of food! Quick service and well spaced out tables to feel safe.Different food options are listed on the board and change regularly. But there are the classic staples like the delicious seafood pasta and mussels. The half portion is still massive!
Only had pastries, take-aways, but everything was absolutely delicious! The custard slices were fantastically creamy with crispy and flaky pastry, the chocolate tart was spot on - not one of those sickly sweet ones, the chocolate croissant -possibly the best!!! Delicious!
One of my favourite spots in Muizenberg. The most amazing bakery and the cappuccinos and iced coffees were awesome! Enjoy the cozy inside atmosphere or sit on the side benches if you are just popping in for a quick visit. Opens early and quite late in the evening. Definitely worth a visit!
They offer the best mussels in town and a lot more hearty, homely meals. A very relaxed environment for good food. Quality wise the fare stays reliably the same. There was a period when they had not stepped up to the covid threat but now they keep in line and the waiters wear their masks on their faces not their chins!
A forever favourite! It may appear to be just a little ordinary Cafe with views of a busy street and railway, but theres more, much more... Always packed, a blackboard menu, attentive service and wonderful food... Just go!
This little restaurant is busy. Cant book. First come first serve. Great vibe excellent food and the waiters are friendly and excellent service. Its opposite the Kalk Bay Harbour with a great view.
A group of five enjoyed the menu at this restaurant. However waitrons do not listen to the customers. We requested a mussel starter for our group but they brought all the meals together. Anyway it was enjoyed by all. Pleasant evening, very chilly inside the restaurant though.
Delicious baked treats, as well as tasty meals. We had the seafood linguini (I think that is what it was called). It was really tasty
A great café with great products. The coffee beans are from truth coffee, which guarantees that the coffee tastes good. For breakfast we had filled croissants, which were freshly prepared. This was one of the best croissants of my life. The sweet pastries were also great. If you are at the kalkbay, make sure you come here, you wont regret it.
Wow and wow! The food is really really good. We go here regularly. We’ve had breakfast and dinner here a few times. The dinner was amazing and the staff is really friendly. The second time we had dinner I had the sir loin with chips option, which was not that great - they have way more and better options, so try anything else and you will be pleasantly surprised . Thanks for the great restaurant! Keep it up!
Great place for a breakfast. The menu isnt large by any means and doesnt appear to have any vegan options but there could well be, I just didnt ask. Customer service could be a little better but nothing thats different to anywhere else in CT.
Lovely welcoming atmosphere. Good service. Food tasty and well presented. Friendly Staff
Best seafood pasta!!! Super kind staff, thanks Matthew!
A Experience that leaves you gadping for more !! Any food lovers Little Paradise !!Dont think !! Just Go !!
Always good service and an excellent breakfast. Coffee delicious too.
Wow, you can almost miss this little gem because it is not a big place, but do yourself a favour and stop! Great food, fresh and tasty, and their portions are great. We had a lot of different taste and dietry requirements in the group I went with and everyone got something they liked. Highly reccomend!
Love the cafe vibe with the view of the streets and sea. The sound of the bustle of cars and cooks in the kitchen. A cosy place to visit on a winter or summers day. Really Great food and service... And care and attention from the manager.
Excellent coffee, salad, burger. Sole a bit expensive at R220. Nice quaint place. Mussels seems very popular!
Most delicious Tagliatelle del Mer, flavoursome and out of this world! Close, small, relaxed and informal. Order freshly baked ciabatta to go to enjoy with your breakfast the next day. Tiramisu is too heavenly! What a gem
Everything from the delicious, full-bodied coffee, to the buttery scrambled eggs and perfectly herbed mushrooms on toast, and the view of Kalk Bay going by makes Olympia a 5-star stop that should not be missed.
We love it here! Such a fun and vibrant atmosphere even when it is quiet
Food was delicious. Very small place but cozy.
Small cafe and bakery with the BEST mussels. Always busy over weekends and during holiday season. Has a pet friendly section. Very popular amongst locals and tourists alike. Cannot make reservations. Ps try their hot chocolate and croissants if youre just popping in for tea!
What a lovely place to visit. It has such a lovely atmosphere and the food is really yummy. I enjoyed the croissant. It had mozzarella and ham inside and it was served with a mustard sauce. They have each day a unquie menu and you have to choose from the one on display. I am not too sure if everything is good but everything looks really tasty. It also has a beautiful ocean view because it is located so close. Perfect place for surfers or people looking to try something new
Love your happy buns, but your sour dough baguettes are so overdone one needs a chainsaw to cut slices...
The olympia cafe is located right in the heart of kalk bay. If you are looking for some tipycal South African food go to this place. It is well decorated in a art deco style and facing the sea.Food is tasry and staff is friendly.I think going on day time is the best so you can enjoy the atmosphère and the view
Almond croissants were nothing like ones you might think of when you think of an almond croissant but WOW it was so good. Line was super long but they were super fast and efficient. Would definitely go back and recommend. We also got brownies which were pretty good and danishes which were definitely enjoyed.
Always nice atmosphere. One of my favorite places to stop
Amazing staff and delicious breakfast
Old stalwart of kalk bay bakery culture. I love the stuffed croissant on most days...
Ignore how it looks from outside, this place is amazing. We got seats just near the kitchen where we could look out to sea or watch them plate up every dish. The foods fantastic and this clearly a favourite of the locals. Theres a white board as you come in to write down your party size at busy times but youll get a seat fast. We went for the muscles and the seafood linguine but everything looked great.
Saved my Bday with a perfect lemon pie🧡
Terribly disappointed. I use to eat and support this gem of a resturant... on a weekly basis. Have not been back for about 3 week. Tonight we had kassler which was medium to rare, mussels which was small and the sauce was not as it use to be, bread stotgy and think ( it use to be light and fluffy) and tomato bredie which was tough. Kinglip was clearly frozen. Really sad about this experience.
Ive been frequenting this restaurant since the late 90s and am always delighted with the food, and menu that changes daily. It is a chef owned and managed establishment, so that standards are high. Great atmosphere, too. No bookings accepted so make sure you are there by 7pm for dinner in order to get a table. Enjoy!
Service was super slow. Waited nearly an hour for my hot drink. But the food is good!
Olympia is one of my all time favourite spots. If you arrive early (Im talking 6am) you can get the most amazing fresh croissants and other delicious goodies. Then if you want to go next door to their restaurant you have to write your name on the board and wait your turn. You cant get a reservation so I suggest you get your name up asap.I also suggest taking a nice stroll through Kalk bay while you wait. The bookshop, pier and ice-cream shops are all institutions that shouldnt be missed. Then! Once youre back at Olympia I suggest trying their seafood if youre that way inclined. They make some of the best mussels outside of Patternoster.Their veggie options are also yummo too!Enjoy guys! It really its a lovely spot.
Olympia Cafe has super cute, cosy and intimate vibes
Amazing gourmet food... The smoked aubergine paste is to die for.. Mmmmmm m stunning coffee
Most lovely place to eat! So enjoyed the food BUT please go easy on the salt in the mussel soup! We are drinking gallons of water now we are home!
Amazing food and even better people
Very good food and very friendly and helpful staff. Absolutely amazing, thank you
Great atmosphere and music. Amazing staff
A great selection of brunch and lunch options - with delicious bread to compliment most dishes. Olympia is a fixture for Kalk Bay, and is centrally located in this wonderful area. As always with Kalk Bay, the traffic on the through-road can build up quickly and badly - so recommend taking Boyes Drive around to the south/west side of Kalk Bay, parking, and going from there. Only issue when we were there was that the service took an extremely long time (we were sat outside and had to go in to signal the staff multiple times to order drinks, order food, and pay), and felt quite stressed at the time! However from memory I dont think this is the norm - and generally speaking visits have been excellent.
We dont miss coming here when were in Cape Town. The coffees are great and the atmosphere better. The food is always a surprise. We love it.
Definitely a a must-stop when you visit Kalk bay...I cant wait to go again! I thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast and coffee. Small, intimate and unforgettable setting.
Monday night in Kalk Bay, a few tables in, tables decently spaced for Covid. Ordered Linguine di Mare and Roasted Leg of Lamb, excellent, absolutely excellent. Delicious bowl of seafood pasta, lamb cooked perfectly. Changing the wine menu soon, wines from the current list going at incredible prices, had a bottle of Sutherland Cabernet Sauvignon for R100!!! Thank you so much Olympia, will be back soon for sure.
Youre never going to get the best service or price at Olympia, but its an institution for a reason. It has an amazing atmosphere, particularly with its lil outdoor spot around the back. It also has excellent food, especially the gorgonzola pasta and lemon pie. It also serves Truth Coffee, so Im not going to complain about that.
Olympia Cafe dining experience is not to be missed. Fresh food and pastries made on site at its bakery. Good food selection for everyones taste. Loved the coffee and friendly staff. I would rec this restaurant for a brunch or coffee.
A cosy restaurant close to the sea. Great atmosphere!
Great food and service.
Café Olympia is a heavenly original of a place. If anything, its even better now here than ever before: excellent service and food, and an inimitable, friendly vibe. May it forever be this way - the staff have a truly great thing going.
Best croissants in the universe.
Oh well, what can one say. This quirky place is an institution. As we arrived the waiter asked us for a bit of patience as he went to fetch some freshly baked sourdough bread that comes standard with olive oil and vinegar at every table. The outstanding dishes are the legendary muscles, and the spinach polenta with Gorgonzola (not always shown in the menu - so ask for it). The lemon tart is quite outstanding too. If youre quesy, dont go to the toilet!
We had fab moules mariniere and delicious pork chop in mustard sauce, mash and veggies. Very good house wines too
Best food I had in the whole of CT and kalkbay. Ask for the seafood linguini! Amazing!
Olympia’s light, flavourful, creamy, white wine mussels will catapult your tastebuds out to sea and back again. These delicacies paired with a classic view of the Kalk Bay harbour and the hubble bubble of the Olympia Cafe bakery creates the perfect recipe for a wholesome, seaside treat.I’ve been visiting Olympia Cafe for over 20 years and I am pleased to confirm that the steamed mussels in a creamy, garlicky white wine sauce are still the best mussels that you’ll taste in the Western Cape. The freshness of the flesh bursts in your mouth and the flavour that ensues takes you on a journey to the shores of the langebaan lagoon. The mussels were perfectly cooked, and the delectable sauce did not overpower the oceanic flavour of the mussels. The sauce is also the ideal accompaniment for the freshly baked bread that was served with the mussels.Top tips:- The half portion is very generous, so I can’t imagine finishing the full portion- Finish your meal off with a chocolate and almond triangle from the bakery followed by a swim at Dalebrook pool
Best pastries and love the seeded bread.
Best lunch in Kalk Bay. I highly suggest the mussels ( even if I usually don’t like cream with my mussels, they make a great sauce) and some lemon tart if available. Be aware the place can be noisy but that’s part of the charm.
Excellent food, great atmosphere
Always a 5 star meal at Olympia Cafe. Everything is delicious, but the mussels are the crowning glory (although the seafood linguine and lemon tart deserve a shout-out too)!
Its a very lively place, beautiful atmosphere
