Better than the average Checkers. Not good, but not terrible.

Large supermarket over 40 years old with the occasional revamp. Probably one of the first in the southern suburbs.Wide range of products, from fresh produce, meat, chicken, in-house bakery, frozen foods to groceries, hardware and other.Also has a ice cream stand with a small coffee kiosk. The store has a money market section as well as a large cosmetic section.Generally well designed with good ambience. Staff is efficient with good service.

Absolutely sad at how Checkers Meadowridge has degraded. They used to have fresh stuff on sale at the Deli every day and staff used to be friendly but they all seem to be unfriendly, disinterested and uncaring. Today I bought chicken that was off, tasted like dishwater, and there was a worm in my salad.. not a catipillar.. a worm that you would find in stagnant water. Everything is overpriced for the low quality you get. You have to check expiration dates because most of the stuff is expired. Not happy with this store, needs some major improvements.

Half the staff not wearing masks correctly - the butchery blockman had mask on his chin and dealing with food - ask for a manager and no action taken but lots of sorries - management useless and weak - express queue has maybe 2 cashiers on duty normally without a packerStaff more busy playing/talking on cell phones rather than working or assisting customersOnly decent thing about Checkers Meadowridge is the ample parking and lovely car guardsSupervisors at the tills not worth anything as bad as the cashiers will their sulleness and talking to staff whilst customer in front of them

Very disappointing today regarding the sassa payoutsOld people had to stand in a long queue and waited very longOnly 2 cashiers when they no people were getting paid late and needed there money

I am disgusted with the service when calling to ask to be transferred to the butchery and the phone just rings. I am a loyal customer to Cheackers and this the thanks I get. Only thing I can say is pathetic service.

Fresh fruit and veggies just expect to wait at checkout

What a waste of time visiting checkers for the first time in months. First thing that caught my attention was ... the Orchids just inside the doors. Dead flowers on some of them were already lying on the ground. A hefty price tag hanging on the poor plant that no-one would ever buy.We found what we were looking for ... microwave covers, hence the 1 star rating.The staff were entirely absent to help with what I needed to find. The cashiers were having their own conversations while I was paying, no eye contact, no manners. When I said thank you, still no response!!!Why should I ever visit again? Woolworths gets a 5 star rating no matter which branch you visit. All meat, chicken, fruit, vegetables, eggs, pretty much anything else you need is of the highest standard and worth buying. Happy shopping means returning customers. 🥑🍒☕

Dont ever expect to get helped at the kiosk, you only gonna get 5 checkers staff members assisting someone that was overcharged with R1 and the rest talking and ignoring you. Drives me crazy and this is a daily thing.

There is a wide variety of products and produce. Prices are competitive. The store is well layed out and it is reasonably easy to find what you need.

We have been shopping at Checkers Meadowridge for years but over the past year they have gone downhill BADLY! Most of the time we experience at least 10 - 15 items with NO prices. We spend half the time running around trying to scan items for a price!! But wait theres more..... at the busiest time of the day they decide they will only have a few tills open, the queues are forever!!!When you ask for the manager, he agrees with you and says sorry and nothing is ever done about it! BAD, SHOCKING and UNACCEPTABLE!! Hopefully someone at Checkers will see this review!

I was at Checkers in Meadowridge at about 1620 and as I was entering the lady just ahead of me said she didnt want to be sprayed with sanitizer. She was allowed to enter without being sanitized or wearing a mask. She did lift her scarf to pretend it was a mask but after entering she dropped her scarf and shopped without anything covering her nose and mouth. Please jack up your efforts to keep your customers safe. The law requires face-coverings to be worn in any open public space, as well when individuals enter shops, public buildings, and places of work.

Well Done Checkers Meadowridge!!! I was extremely impressed with the look of your store today, not only was it extremely well stocked. It was neat and clearly labeled with pricing. I enjoyed my shopping experience finding everything with ease and comfort.Keep up the great shopping experience.

Easily accessible, plenty of free parking, well packed store. Personally I have always the found the staff friendly, remember shoppers a pleasant countenance and smile doesnt cost anything ...its not exactly the most aspiring nor well paid job in the world so get off your high horses and understand that you are not the centre of attention in the world and stop expecting treatment like royalty. You are their to shop not get red carpet treatment from everyone. If you want that go and buy a $5 Million mansion in Constantia or Bantry Bay!

This is a really large Checkers. Variety of goods on sale. They offer samples on new items. Staff are friendly enough. The backery has a wide selection of goods but the shop is often busy. The lines get really long, but move quite quickly.I prefer this Checkers to others.Many toys for the children to look at and choose from.There is also a large parking area.

Chaos. Stopped by to grab ginger. No price on items. No one to weigh items. Walk around looking for someone. Eventually got item weighed and went to a till point. There’s staff at the till but they ignore me and are chatting and filling in something, but don’t bother to just explain to me what’s going on. Move to the cigarette counter to pay. No staff at the counter but two ladies are chatting nearby. Wait a while. A lady in a Checkers uniform goes behind the counter, then ignores me and shouts across to another staff member. I just left. I think I’ll rather pay more in Woolworths for a better experience.

Happy family-friendly little shopping centre in the southern peninsula. Large supermarket and a good selection of essential retailers. Print shops, courier service and mailing outlet, stationers, jeweller, budget gadget store etc etc and one or two restaurants. Hope they get a good coffee shop soon to qualify for 5 stars 😊 Oh and there are doctors surgeries close by, petrol garage, library and open areas for walks in the sunshine

Went for a few items and no eggs or I should say very very few. Yesterday was the same. No person to ask had to walk around the shop looking for help. Found someone who said nope no eggs. I wasnt very happy. The ceg and hot foods were also not interested. They were happy talking to one another. Nit happy

The shop looks very nice, but the layout makes very little sense. There are wide gaps for some aisles, but very narrow ones for others, which is really counter-intuitive, given that the aisles with narrow gaps have fridges with doors that need to be opened. Speaking of fridges, the cooldrinks in them were lukewarm. Dont see much point in putting drinks in fridges if theyre not going to keep them cold. Crates are left lying around, obstructing shoppers in busy sections, and when my wife wanted some vegetables weighed, there was nobody there to assist. The checkouts were incredibly slow, and for no good reason. This is a common trend in Checkers stores. I dont know if its because their staff are treated poorly or simply not paid enough to care, but every Checkers I go to has this problem: unresponsive, disinterested staff who move unbelievably slowly.

Place is nice and clean

Been to the coffee stand two weeks in a row now. The lady there is really friendly but doesnt know how to make the coffee on the menu. This has been the case for the past two weeks.

I am giving 5 stars staff are happy. Go to any store your cashiers will say alot by just looking at them. Other leading stores cashier staff are dead and tired at Checkers Meadowridge they make you happy.

Although there is a good variety on merchandise, the butchery staff are most of the time, very reluctant to make up mince when they have sold what was made earlier in the day. They tell you to come back the following day.The cashiers, packers and money market staff are too busy having private conversations among themselves.

Good fruit & veg, cheeses, meat and wines. Very friendly, helpful managaress. Just wish she could train the rest of the staff to smile and be helpful. They have limited knowledge of products stocked and not very friendly when asked for assistance or at checkout

One of the worst experiences. So i walk in and there is nobody willing to help me and the people that did were extremely rude and were using crude language in front of their customers. my bru... thought this was a nice establishment but looks are deceiving hay.Thats not the only problem, just go look at the reviews im done. This is the closest supermarket to my home and I shop here regularly for daily food and household items. Well stocked, ample parking and friendly staff, the store is well laid out and easy to navigate. Prices are not exceptional but competitive with other supermarkets in the vicinity.

I am a regular shopper at this store since I work in the vicinity. Each day is an uphill battle. Personal conversations precede helping a customer at back up areas...or total lack of product knowledge/customer courtesy is the order of the day. No prices...out of stocks for months on end..expired dates....which has been brought to staffs attention. Tonight I bought a milk tart..only to get home to find it had been packed upside down. Does common sense not prevail even if training is disregarded? Come on guys...up your service and gain new customers instead of losing them to the competition.

No hand saniter visible to use. Checkers should have a person or persons physically dispensing sanitiser.

Shop itself is quite nice, well stocked. However, staff, especially at the tills, 9 out of 10 times are very rude and act like they are doing you a favour. Not to mention chit chat in different language between themselves while helping you...

As a local it is nice to see the diverse staff, especially enriching the lives of those so called disabled. The shelves are never short of quality items and never am I left dissatisfied. Ok... maybe on Christmas when Cream is highly in demand. Thanks all.

Availability and stock of basic food items is often limited.Staff arent often aware of promotions offered.An upgrade/revamp of the shop is underway, so lets hope things improve as it is a very popular store by virtue of its central location.Cellphone signal in the store is zero... Free Wifi would be a good idea.

For the most part, this been a sort of convenient store, however, over the last 3/4 months there have been major renovations and theyve now increased their floor space, as well as their offering.Always a good shopping experience. 👍🏼

Actually amazed at how useless the employees are at checkers meadowridge. Went to purchase my items and was asked if I would like a bag. The bag was handed to another employee who I assumed would be packing my items to only find out that she is too tired to do anything and I was made to pack my own stuff while she watched and yawned. Needless to say I wont be going back to a checkers again.

This place is comfortable and welcoming. Theres always plenty of space to move around and everything is presented neatly. I always enjoy doing my shopping here.

The usual disinterested and DILLIGAF service at deli. Dont know why I even bother walking up to the counter because I normally leave before being served by staff who take delight in continuing to talk to each other and turning their backs on customers. Pity that other great staff are let down

It was a trip to get some Crystal Butter & Toilet duck intense cleaning but unfortunately they were out of stock. Otherwise pleasant experience

I dont know if the staff go for any kind of training like we did when I worked for Stuttefords in Adderley St years back????? I use Checkers Meadowridge purely out of convenience but as for the staff???? There is maybe a handful thats good, but the rest???

This is my favourite Checkers. Friendly, helpful staff. Merchandise fresh and variety good. Mrs Wills, the manager, is amazing. This will always be my preferred place to shop!

This is a very conveniently located Checkers for the Bergvliet/Meadowridge area. They tend to have a wide assortment of most things, and they have a particularly impressive cheese selection.

After the recent revamping, it has become much more pleasurable to shop here but some staff members are inappropriate and unprofessional. Please educate your staff members properly. They should not be throwing inappropriate comments at customers.

My local Checkers. Good variety but an irritation for me is all the things standing in the aisles and the constant changing around of the layout. Id shop there more frequently if they were more consistent.

A medium sized ground level shopping centre with two big retailers of food groceries and toiletries, a gas station and ample parking etc.

Twice in the last week I have bought items from the womens hygiene section and it had been incorrectly priced. I was charged way more than advertised and when I raised concerns I was ignored and not even spoken to. I was literally ignored and the 2 women continued their chat like I was invisible!

The service used to be great, but it is annoying when the staff dont pay attention to customers clearly in need of trying to find something. However, when you do ask, they are very helpful.

Im so sorry that I have to interrupt conversations and burden the unfriendly ladies at the money market with my simple requests...
