I bought a non stick pan here and two months later it’s completely warped. Disappointed!

Whoever was working till 10 Wednesday 26 May 2021 around 16.00 is so sweet. My milk bag spilt everywhere and she wiped all my groceries without complaint and got me a new milk. Not once did I see her look annoyed, which has happened at other shops. Anyway, I hope she can at least get a pat on the back for her excellent customer service!

This well stocked checkers is hardly ever crowded which makes for a pleasant shopping experience. Underground parking which leads into the mall gives you a sense of security.

The new-look and feel is fantastic. It is a shame the staff do not match these. Staff at speciality counters (cheese, cold meat etc) don’t seem to know what they have in stock. The staff in the aisles are mostly absent or on their phones and have no sense of how to behave in front of customers or talk to them. Thankfully the checkout staff are pleasant and efficient. Will keep returning as I do not shop for the staff factor.

I was pick pocketed in the store and I received little to no assistance from the security staff. I requested to have a look at the camera system or receive footage so I can open a case and provide evidence and I was told that the cameras were not looking at the areas I was shopping at (which I find highly suspicious). None of my details were collected and nothing was done on the matter and was basically told to go home.

I absolutely love the new look. I was blown away by it. Absolutely stunning. Service is great, staff friendly, bakery has fresh goods. Everything is just on point

The shop was recently renovated, it looks beautiful but the customer service is still as poor as before.

It is potentially amazing that the dirty old store has changed so dramatically. The checkpoints need to be moved back as there is no room to pack the goods into the trolley. The 60 second delivery merchants block the isle and just bump one out of the way. The Orange flooring is dirty in the joins as it is as well in Plettenberg Bay. The flooring appears patchy as if from various dye batches plus bad welding joins gathering grime.

If service is a priority to you, look for another Checkers.I am editing my review, to add more unhappiness and dissatisfaction. Mr Orig a manager at the Checkers is very incompetent and dishonest. Firstly he did not want to assist me and made my issue seem very petty, then I had to follow up on him a week later for results which he was failing dismally to assist. Today I have called him numerously with no joy, a manager.I have been struggling with the same issue, a reprint of receipt. lack of service and urgency is shocking with this man. I am sick and tired. I just want a refund please. R1000 worth of vouchers.

Went to get a coffee and Sandwich special this morning and the lady behind the coffee machine absolutely sucked at customer service she was straight rude to me. Hire people that actually want to work for a living.

It feels like the recent store revamp is a waste of an effort on the part of checkers. They seem to have neglected to train their staff to the standard that the revamp seems to desire. The fruit is left on the shelves until it attracts fruitflies and generally one gets a sense of a veneer of improvement that does not go much further

Its conveniently located, spacious and clean. I also like that its hardly ever crowded and the queues are short. One of my tests before becoming a regular was grocery freshness (I had had enough incidences elsewhere especially with rotting apples and bruised berries thatd go bad fast). I havent had a single incident of bad fruit here.

Shop is not managed well. Queues of people waiting with no social distancing protocols yet many tills are unmanned. Frustrated shoppers all over. Fruit and vegetable selection is also very limited.

Arranged for pick up in parking, items delivered passed by due date. Despite quoting special prices as advertised, was charged much more, also received something I didnt order. Despite sending email, had no apology from checkers or customer care services.

Over 45mins just to purchase a gift card! Horrendous service, even though, by the cashiers admission, they are not busy 😡

Mixed Review...love this Checkers, however wanted to weigh fruit and other items and no one was at the fruit&Veg section when I got to the cashier she sent someone to go weigh my stuff (Still no one) and they just casually said theres no one at that section I am unable to purchase my Fruit &Veg. (shocking)

The revamp is really lovely

I like the revamped store. It is a real plessure to go there and they have ecerything i want.

I dont find it overly crowded which is helpful for the quicker trips. Some of the items are priced so well. The cheese selection is fantastic. There is a such a different range of meat choices and choices for the braai. There is is a great selection of gifts for the home. Candles and holders. I always end my shopping trip with a look at the wine selection. Many decent wines can be found. Odd bins is one of the things that makes Checkers special.

Cashiers at the liquor store was friendly and very helpful appreciated keep up the good work

About a month ago i bought a pie and doughnuts from Checkers Rondebosch and a few hours later fell ill as a result. It turned out tmi had food poisoning from their products. Both the pie and the doughnuts were old and already marked downI went to the shop the very next morning after this incident and spoke to the manager but he has never done anything about it, i paid almost R1000 in medical expenses because of them and wll they have to say whenever i go and soeak to them is that they will repory to their head office about the matter. Utterly disappointed in their service and lack of care for their customers.

So frustrating. The staff are either badly trained or just dont care.The meats are pre-cut, then left open to oxidize and grey. I ordered sandwich ham, and asked that they not give me the outside slice as it was discoloured, I was ignored. When you complain, they stare at you like you have lost your mind.The staff dont know what half of the products are, never mind where to find them.

Staff are really unfriendly at this particular branch. Also have very few tills open during month end and during after work rush. This branch can most definitely do with an upgrade in both looks and staff. Theres one manager there thats always helpful and friendly but the rest (and cashiers) dont even greet you back and just ignore you.

Checkers is a great middle-ground grocery store. I loved coming here for good fruit deals and other staples. Sometimes I would even buy their sale sushi, which was actually pretty good. They have everything you would need and the quality of food is good. Prices are fine as well.

What a dreadful experience Ive had! And thats just on the phone. I wont ever go to this store!

I am very tired of struggeling with the bad service at this checkers and tired of the rudeness of the staff at the tills. Is it really necessary? If I am not purchasing meat that has gone off, I am being met with hostility when paying for my items.

Poorly stocked. I had a list of 7 items, 3 were not in stock. The 4th, milk was on the shelf but since all the milk on the shelf was going to expire the next day it wasnt worth buying. Why would you shop here when you then have to go somewhere else as well to get what you need?

It is easily accessible, clean and the tellers are friendly. The trolleys never look clean, though, and they do not always carry stock of everything I need. (I shop on Sundays, so that might be the problem.)

Terrible service, food and food knowledge from staff.I was there yesterday to buy some food for my boy for supper. The lady at the cold meat counter was looking like she would rather be anywhere else but there. On top of it, the Elim Frankfurters we bought (R99/kg.) - found out at home - was off. So Im standimg in the kitchen trying to get rid of the bad smell (as they started cooking released a horrible sour smell) and make a plan to get him something to eat. The olives were sold for us as olives w. sun-dried tomatoes were actually with hot peppers, so he couldnt have that either. Was a complete waste of our time shopping there.Will never go back there again.P.S.: The management should train their staff. And be more aware of whats going on.

The most comprehensive supermarket in the Rondebosch area. Well-run and often well-stocked. It is the anchor tenant in Riverside Mall on Main Road.

Everything you need, very well organized, very good service. The missing fifth star is for the fact that the customer payment interface at the point of sale is outdated. E.g. Tap to pay card machines
