It saddens me to write a review like this however I feel its important for pet owners to know. My mother took my cat to this spca as my cat developed an abscess. The vet just gave my mother Antibiotics to feed our cat with, but the they did not shave my cats hair around the infected area. That was a very important stepthat they missed because the fur started to infect the wound and the cat kept scratching it open. My mother took the cat back to the SPCA where she was told by one of the Vets that the vet who saw the cat initially should have shaved the cats fur first yet failed to do so. This lead to the abscess turning into a wound and for this reason they put my cat down because the vet at this SPCA forgot to shave my cat causing the wound to be infected.

The love & compassion shown by the staff at the SPCA is amazing & so comforting when you are faced with difficult situations. Actions speak louder than words & our experience with the staff & the way they treated our fur babies has been remarkable. Our doggies were seniors and we have seen the SPCA more times than we have wanted to over the past 2 years but the team guided us and gave us the best advise on how to care for our doggies & for that I am truly grateful. THANK YOU!

Decent but no booking system so you wait long. Cheaper than other vets but for some absurd reason, they wont complete the form insurance companies want them to just stamp and put their vet number on. I could have saved myself a couple of hundred rand by them just stamping it for me. Receptionist also had an attitude.

I have been coming to this SPCA for years and have never had a problem, but because I work during the week, my mother had to bring my dog Mishu in for a check up as she had not eaten for days. They checked her out, sedated her. Told us that she has some gastro problem, and to monitor her for 2 days. Done so....she still had not eaten, my mother took her back on Wednesday 8th September. She had been admitted into the hospital as she needed to be put on a drip. Only on Friday I had recieved a call to say that mishu had gotten tick fever and they would need to immediately treat her for accordingly. The women I spoke to was very kind and had a sweet voicemail, said she would be monitored and they would give me a call on Saturday or Sunday when she would be ready to collect, she said twice that it will most probably be on Sunday.Went to the SPCA today, Sunday 12 September. Firstly as I stepped in, the women assisting told us we need to wait outside, in the ugliest tone. (Note: the poster on the outside says maximum 7 people in the reception area the, there were only 4 people seated)The women I spoke to said they dont usually allow visitors, but let me see my dog which was fine. I had explained to her what the women told me on the phone, she replied no, Im not sure who you spoke to but we dont do enquiries over the weekend and I cannot take my dog as she has tick fever.I totally understand that my dog needs to be treated accordingly for whatever symptom they had picked up only 5 days later, but the lack of communication between the staff members and the owners are ridiculous. If I had not gone to visit Mishu, which bare in mind is not allowed I would never have known how she was doing. When I asked the women when I can fetch her, she said I can call on Monday between 2pm and 4pm. Not they will call me. The hours of calling are odd. I only get home at 6pm. My dog is not eating and stuck in a cage for 5 days now. Its extremely frustrating.

Id like to thank Inspector Theo, Vanessa from the hospital and everyone else at the SPCA - Grassy Park for the truly amazing work that you do. We are so grateful for the selfless way you care for our animals. I contacted the team when I heard about a little dog being knocked over by a truck and everyone at the SPCA came to her rescue. Inspector Theo even dropped her off in Dunoon when she was well, to check her living conditions. He was kind enough to educate and guide her owner on the best ways to care for his pet. Inspector Theo was patient, innovative and considerate in his approach. You are amazing and we will continue to donate to your amazing cause. I encourage everyone else to do the same.

Brought my cat in because he had a wound on his neck, they gave him a injection and said they would admit him and they would have to neuter him as well, I said yes and my cost when I left came to R800. Reminder that I’m a STUDENT. 5 days later I had to fetch my cat and his neck looked exactly the same, no cone or bandage on his neck they just sent me home with a ointment. I had to pay R1300 when I left!!! Came home and looked at my cats underpart and looked like her wasn’t even sterilized, he looked completely the same!. And now he scratches the wound open again which was the main reason I sent him in. I honestly don’t understand why I paid over R2000 for my cat to come home the exact same way! That was a lot of money given and my cat wasn’t even helped.
