We were booked in pronto by very friendly staff and also a table reserved for later that evening. Went for a drive through Calvinia and saw a very large postbox, there is quite a history of Calvinia and surrounding areas. We enjoyed our dinner and when the staff heard that we will be on our way early the next day they prepared our breakfast and delivered it at our room. I will recommend this lovely place to everyone. The restaurant is quaint and the food is good and well priced.Their accommodation is badly in need of an upgrade and only rates 3 stars. However, it is one of the better establishments in Calvinia.

Always eat here on our way to kgalagadi. This time we had to have takeaways. The food was excellent. The owner and staff are very friendly. Highly recommended

Nice, clean and secure. Their lamb shank is the winner, but the star of the show was Anthony. I think he is a triplet. Booked us in, escorted me to my parking space, barman, waiter and still had time for a joke or two.

Restaurant is quaint and cozy. Food is real country style and hearty. Will be back one day.

Conveniently situated for overnight between Cape Town and Kgalagadi. Restaurant offers quality food for dinner and breakfast. Sleeping accommodation is adequate and comfortable.

Always stop here on the way back to Cape Town from Kgalagadi.Clean. Helpful staff. Perfect to overnight.

Restuarant good food and good friendly service, 5 star. Room neat and clean, shower not clean at all and poorly maintained, floor as slippery as wet soap. Towels below standard, old and weared out. Repacement were due long ago!!

We had a lovely overnight stay on Friday.....very nice rooms. The family are very welcoming and a bonus..we could have a Chefs Table dinner there...highly recommended if you are visiting the flowers and want to stay in Calvinia.

Rooms are very clean and beautifully decorated. Very comfortable. Off stretch parking available for all residents. The meal in the restaurant was very well prepared and presented by very courteous staff. I highly recommend Die Blou Naartjie. Also remember to visit the local museums and other places of interest.

It is difficult to decide on a 5 star scale. It is usually difficult, but not this time. One does not expect to get the quality here, and that is not meant degrading. The food was exceptional. Wow wonderfully started and serious good lamb. I am comfortable with 5 stars.

Nice coffee shop

The food is really some if the best Ive tasted in a while. Had the lamb pie. Fresh lamb served with amazing 3 vegetable dishes. Really worth writing about. The only problem I encountered was my choice of wines, even though on the wine list, werent available. The only wine that they had available were the three most expensive ones on their wine list.

The accommodation was average at best. The head of the kitchen started an argument with one of our group (of 10 people) after we have been waiting for well over 2 hours for the dinner that we ordered. I have never seen such bad customer service. The kitchen staff member was aggressive and rude.The recommended dish on the menu, the lamb shank was out of stock and we were only informed about this after a 30 minute wait.Breakfast was lovely. The lady that served it was lovely, funny and kind.Would not recommend this place to anyone.

It would be wise to pre-book for this restaurant as they dont only service the guesthouse clients. The food is a bit pricey but worth every cent because our steaks were cooked to perfection. The service from the waiter was excellent as well ... not constantly in your face but when you need him he appears as if by magic!

They forgot to inform us that their restaurant are being renovated. We chose them as stayover because of restaurant. My husband had to eat salticrax and paté on his birthday which we applied with his pocket knife because no cuttlery in room but braai outside🤔🤔??

Would not recommend this place to anybody. The crumbed chicken breast were very very dry and we could not eat it at all. Our first choice was out of stock ( pork ribs). Very bad service from the kitchen. There were no manager or front of house that we could complain about this kind of problems. Would not recommend this place.

Historic building setting is interesting. Excellent food. Would however appreciate more typical Karoo food on the menu. Menu the same as any average city restaurant.

Excellent traditional South African food. Value for money. Skaapstertjies tastes great, carpaccio was great value... Overall a good experience. The only slight irritation was the inexperienced and slightly nervous waiter, who also didn’t accurately attend to our requests, but that doesn’t justify a lesser rating. Do come here for great South African cuisine!

Weve stayed here twice now on the way up North and it is a great place to stop over for the night. However, on our most recent trip, we had an unfortunate experience with a mouse in our room. Im sure this isnt a common problem though so Im not letting it affect my rating. The restaurant has very nice food and the staff are very friendly. The only downside is the WiFi is pretty bad and they seem very reluctant to hand out logins to their guests.

Would rate this place higher as the rooms and food are both very nice. Unfortunately though I woke up at night with a mouse crawling around underneath my sheets!Also they only seemed to want to give one wifi passcode per booking and we were a booking of 14 people so you can imagine how that turned out!

The rooms are standard, but still comfortable.The restaurant is a must if you are staying over: the lambs pie is great. And if you want a starter try the skaap stertjies.

For us it is always a good overnight rest, the rooms are cleanWhich to me is of importance.
