Nice eatery in a quant town. Stunning pizza with extra thin base. Cold dry white Durbanville Hills Chardonnay. Friendly staff.

Outdoor under the trees for hot days, indoors for cooler evenings, wooden floors, thatch and a gas heater give it a cosy atmosphere. Thin crispy bases with toppings right to the edges. Not oily at all. The calzone size was very generous. Pizzas tasted great! Plus a small craft and international beer selection. I think the choc lava pudding is a microwave cause it came out very fast but didnt stop me from enjoying it. Very sweet waitress. Well worth the visit.

Very Good Value for money!

A bit pricey, but Id say its worth it.I ordered a half Woodpecker and half Prosciutto pizza on Thursday - yum!I would love to experience this place after lockdown or in circumstances where I would be able to enjoy a meal on the premises on my own time and with my people. Seems like it could be a very nice hangout.

Overall a lovely experience, sitting outside was wonderful and relaxing. The restaurant is following strict Covid protocol, was very refreshing to see people taking the pandemic more seriously! The pizza was delicious Crust is thin and crispy. Will be visiting this spot again for sure!

Wow! The BEST pizza Ive had in a very long time. Ive tried so many pizzas in Cape Town and none come close to what Woodpecker offers. You have to experience it for yourself.

Great experience, walked around for a while in Swellendam to find and cozy place with good pizza that is affordable and we found it! As soon as we got there the service was amazing, the little one was entertained with a smarty pizza she could make herself and she was given crayons and a colouring book to entertain her while the pizza was baking. Very cute. The pizza was aaaaaaaaammmmmaaaazzzzziiiinnngggg! Very very good. The burger patty was a bit dry and had onions in, which was not mentioned in the menu, so I would recommend the pizza not the burgers.

We had a simple Margherita pizza with tomato rings accompanied bye a bacon and pecorino cheese salad. A chilled white wine rounded off the most stunning meal. Great place and lovely staff. Our new favourite Italian restaurant.

On a quiet area off the Main St in Swellendam. Great spot for lunch on the way to the Garden Route. Nice outdoor patio area.

Great service and delicious pizza

I honestly cant see why this place has the rating it does. We came here with good intentions to one of the few places open in Swellendam on a Monday night. It took ten minutes for the table to be cleared. Another ten for my order to be taken after much begging of the waiters. Food took more than an hour. Table behind us had the wrong order sent out -- twice. It wouldnt be so tragic if it werent true. Our only evening in Swellendam wasted. I expect Lackadaisy service in small towns but this takes the cake! Update: Reading the reply from the manager makes one wonder if he cares about customers or views them as a nuisance. Could really learn a thing or two about service.

The pizzas here are perfect. Thin and crispy and full of flavour. Wish there were more spots like these in Johannesburg.

Had takeaway pizza but the best South of Cape Town. Setting awesome friendly staff will visit again to taste some of the other dishes on the menu.

We arrived in Swellendam 15min after their closing time but they made us a take out pizza and salad and even brought it out to our car. The napolitana pizza was delicious! Thank you!

Good fries and thin-crust pizza, and nice outdoor sitting area. Good place for families, though a bit on the pricier side given portion sizes (compared to Cape Town). Maybe she was stressed, but the head of staff seemed a bit overbearing towards her staff and also talked over us, assuming we wanted sit-down service and explaining why we cant have that (because of COVID-19 reasons), rather than listening to us (we just wanted to sit down to take time to look at the extensive menu like the other customers).

Not recommended. Poor service and overpriced food.

Pizza pizza pizza, if you want a pizza

Only went for a quiet drink as my wife was having a spa treatment next door. Once inside I knew things were going to change. It was horrible outside, but inside cosy and warm and the aromas of a great deli/ restaurant made me ravenous. I was not disappointed as the pizza was exceptional and when my wife joined me it turned into a long blissful afternoon. Well done and highly recommended!

Walked in for a takeaway and overheard the owner arguing with a customer. I then asked politely how long it could take roughly for a takeaway and he got all rude with me so I left .
