Great steaks for reasonable prices. Friendly and helpful staff. Good wine selection too. Try the mashed potatoes.

An excellent place to eat steaks. Unfortunately their name board is extremely small and impossible to spot when driving past them. Look for the Black Horse, that is them. The steak portions are huge. Unfortunately all our steaks were more raw than we ordered. This was due to the steaks being very thick cut. The medium steaks were med rare and the med rare steaks were rare and the rare steaks were raw. Other than that the food and setting is wonderfull and the service friendly.

Hands down best steak in Stellenbosch. Wine by glass could be better and perhaps slightly better priced. Nonetheless still blown away by the quality fillet and fresh side salad I had!

Enjoyed excellent food at great special price... And surprise vetkoek & gravy to welcome you, and melktert shooter before you leave. Have not experienced something like this for years. Will be back soon for the set menu!

Delicious. All four of us had a great dinner. Steaks were lovely and burger to die for. Very generous portions so be sure to go hungry! Value for money for sure.Staff we super friendly and very efficient.Highly recommend a visit.

The decor was something I havent seen before and I really loved it. The service was good, the waitress did not have a lot of knowledge about the menu and how dishes were prepared or ingredients used, but she was attentive, friendly and quick. The food was amazing, portion sizes are big! The melktertjie shot at the end was a great touch and awesome way to end off a lovely evening. I would definitely recommend De Vleispaleis!

Ive been searching for a proper Wagu steak. Their Wagu sirloin on the bone is outstanding. These guys really know their meat. Our excellent, knowledgeable waiter gave great advice. Definitely going back.

De Vleispaleis is my new favourite steak house! They have a special on (still) for a 300 grams aged Rump or Sirloin with double fried wedges for R99.99. Best steak EVER!! Then my friend and I shared a Blueberry cheesecake! Oh my word..divine....there are 2 cheese cakes in a portion...photo is of my cheesecake!!

We had an amazing meal. Meat was cooked to perfection. Service by our waitron, Ryan, was a class above any normal service. Please seriously consider this restaurant if you are looking to treat yourself to a great meal. They have a butchery as well and wagyu is available.

Service and food was very good. Especially liked that there is no corkage fee. So expect the food to be slightly more expensive. Great specials too.

My steak was cooked to perfection! The staff are friendly and well trained, no need to worry about anything as they look after you like royalty. I just want to say thank you to the manager Robin who made our evening a special one. We will be back!

The steaks were perfect, but the prawn curry was disappointing to say the least. Neither curry nor prawns. Shrimp in a creamy sauce, and rice. It was also cold and had to be warmed. Stick to steak!

Absolutely fantastic! We enjoyed the new winter menu including oxtail, lamb shank and Kaiings this week and it was soooo delicious. We loved the cozy atmosphere at De Vleispaleis - perfect for a cool winter night. Lastly we would like to thank Carl for the fantastic service, all cocktails you recommended were amazing. We will be back soon!

350 g steak was smaller than the 300g steak. Not acceptable!!

Pretty empty restaurant apparently fully booked and cant accommodate 2 people for a walk-in - even though the tables are only booked for an hour later? Very surprised that a steak restaurant cant turn a table for 2 people who were only going to have a drink and a steak each in an hour? This has never happened to me before, usually restaurants with lots of empty tables, especially in the current climate, are happy to try and accommodate customers who are only after a quick meal.Was hoping for a new favourite place to frequent, but sadly not to be with this kind of customer service. Theres enough other steak restaurant in Stellenbosch to make me avoid this one.

Toilet facilities was inadequate during our visit on 12 May. Upstairs toilet was out of order and patrons had to share toilets with another restaurant/bar flooded by hundreds of students. No open doors or windows. Food good as always.

We had a wonderful experience at De Vleispaleis. We sat outside on the deck, which is amidst the vibey Dorpstreet. The service was excellent! Come hungry, the starters are amazing!

This experience should be the standard, not the exception. As you walk into the restaurant (the deco of which was perfectly themed and inviting), well-trained staff greet you with genuine smiles and introductions. Its clear right away that these people know how to serve well, and are proud of what they do. This is seen in how the staff work together and the rapport they exhude. My sister, who isnt as big a fan of meat as the rest of us, wolfed down her medium-rare steak done to perfection. The consensus of the meal was this is the best food weve eaten out in the longest time. It far exceeds The Baron and Hassar Grill for a fraction of the price. Value for money, indeed. As a place hungry for business after the worst of the pandemic, I recommend this establishment for an exceptional experience. Thank you staff, thank you chef, and we will definately be back.
