Had such a lovely time at Hartenberg. Even though I went in a fairly cold day, it didnt disappoint to sit outside. Delicious wine, beautiful scenery and great service.

Absolutely fantastic service with a delicious menu that pairs perfectly with the wines. Gardens are beautiful and well attended - definitely worth a visit.

Treat yourself to a day out in the country on a spectacular wine estate. Fantastic food and beautiful setting. We pre-ordered the picnic and even though the weather was not suited for a picnic we enjoyed our scrumptious selection of picnic food presented in a beautiful wooden box, indoors by a log fire. The quality and quantity of our picnic food far surpassed our expectations. Highly recommended this gem. Rolling lawns for little ones to play on and outdoor seating to be enjoyed in good weather. Wheelchair friendly too.

I love sitting under the trees at Hartenburg (or in their cozy restaurant with a fire burning) enjoying a wine tasting and lunch. There are 2 choices of wine tastings. Great wines, delicious food, and excellent friendly service. I would describe their wines as for the more discerning pallet which explains why much of their wines are exported, but they also keep wines for our local market and only available at the estate. They have won some very prestigious awards.

Just had the most fun and informative tasting with Rodrick. All the staff went out of their way to welcome us. Highly recommended.

Aa always, great place to go. Excellent wines, good food and best service from the staff. Setting is perfect, no crowding at all. Can recommend. We had the cheese and meat platter. Good value for money.

Very overpriced wines. Enjoyed the white wines but the red wines are forgettable. If youd like to spend on average ZAR300+ (sometimes ZAR600+) on a bottle of wine, this is the place for you.Simple but enjoyable snack platter available with lovely outdoor seating. We went here on a perfect sunny autumn day which made sitting outside a pleasure. If its windy, cloudy or rainy, rather sit inside as theres no shelter over the outdoor seating.Lovely place to visit, but if youre looking for easy-drinking wines, Id rather go somewhere else.Staff are lovely and friendly and they know the estates wine well. Excellent service and they can be commended for this.

Great wines and lovely setting. Andrea was very knowledgeable and attentive and the platter was perfect for our wine tasting. Wine delivered today at no cost (couldnt take delivery on Sunday due to Covid rules) with an added personal touch. Well be back!

Nice Setting of the restaurant.On the menu Duck breast on their Website. When you arrive they explain you it is no more on the menu. We came to go for the Duck.And the highlight: a piece of cheese cake normal size R 75 !!

Recommend first doing a wine tasting so you know what bottle you like. Then buy a bottle to enjoy with a picnic lunch. Served out of a wine box and delicious! Our favorite was their 2005 syrah!

We were Superbly looked after. The picnic was an exciting treasure trove of delectable delights. The white wine was refreshing and crisp , ideal for a hot day. The kids were kept entertained and satisfied. All in all a truly memorable experience, well be back! Soon!

We did the picnic, location is very nice, lots of space and shade for the kids. Unfortunately it was a bit windy on the day, with no real protection from the wind. The eateries in the picnic box was really very nice. The service was great, generally waiters dont attend to picnic guests at other venues, but here they do which is very nice

Hartenberg is one of my favourite wine brands, so visiting the farm was an amazing experience. As it was cold and rainy when we visited, we enjoyed a warm cosy wine tasting next to the fireplace in the tasting room. Unfortunately we werent able to experience more of the grounds due to the weather, but the tasting room was comfortable and beautiful, and the staff was very attentive and helpful.

What a pity that this amazing venue does not offer their venue for weddings. Special permission was given for my to conduct a very small wedding there and it is beautiful. Friendly staff and amazing food.

Been here a few times, twice for my wifes birthday. Beautiful wine farm, amazing place to have a relaxing picnic under the trees. Picnic baskets available are delicious and very filling! The wine is absolutely amazing as well!

Beautiful venue with excellent service, a regular haunt for lunch. Never had the picnic lunch previously and it proved to be very disappointing. Will return to Hartenberg again but will definitely not have the picnic lunch. Still a great experience love the venue and staff.

Good looking scenic venue but lost the plot for wines unfortunately. Staff simply recite what is on the label. Wines are forgettable and badly overpriced. Food is made exciting by adding 3 types of onions. Unless keen on pretending not worth the time.

Ï was there before and had a very nice burger. Today had the same but the burger was nog freshly made and was dry.

Private tastings being guided by Renè was a highlight and she is incredibly informative. Loved the traditional wines and old stock. Megan wine also most enjoyable, still need to taste the 2000 Pontac, call me when you open one. Only available in a magnum .

Beautiful setting indeed, quite pricey compared to other winefarms around of similar standard.One major disappointment was, after buying 7 boxes of wine, counting in the car found that the box with the most expensive wine, 2007 Shiraz, was missing, and upon confronting the employees they immediately knew where it was in the back of the store room and brought it to us. Had we not been paranoid, we would’ve lost the (coincidently?) most expensive box of wines. Very disappointing experience, beware going here.

Hartenberg Wine Estate is a traditional winery that still uses its old cellar (an interesting sight!). It is particularly well known for its shiraz, which is definitely worth tasting. Meals are served in a wonderful dining room that evokes an old school atmosphere surrounded by wonderful landscapes.

This winery was great! We had our wine tasting outside. Everyone was extremely knowledgeable about the different wines.

One of my favourite chardonnays and the food is homely and reasonably priced. For a sunny day its lovely to sit out in the courtyard or plonk yourself under an oak tree

Called at 13h30 to enquire if it will be OK, to come for lunch after 2pm. Aunty Bettie was very friendly and took my no. The chef, Wolf, called back, saying we are more than welcome for lunch or a picnic.My daughter and I arrived @14h15. We found everyone friendly and helpful. My daughter, said the Burger was munchy, munchy, lekker! The cheese cake was to die for, a very generous slice, which I simply could not resist to finish.

We had a picnic in Hartenberg and really enjoyed it. We drank the Hartenberg Riesling in various restaurants and wanted to take a look at the winery. The picnic itself was on a large meadow where you could relax wonderfully, the chess cake for dessert was super delicious, as was the bread and butter. Unfortunately, the other products in the picnic basket didnt taste so good, which is why we have to remove a star. In general, the winery looks beautiful in its imposing size, there are great old and huge trees on the driveway. From the ambience there are certainly more beautiful wineries in Cape Town and the surrounding area, everything was a bit rocky, but still very clean. We would come again because of the Riesling :)
