We had such a lovely evening at the Bull Run. This restaurant has a lovely atmosphere with all the bells and whistles you would expect from this type of restaurant. The service was excellent and the steaks (I had fillet and vegetables) were soft, tasty and well prepared. We shall definitely visit them again.

The Bull Run is not just a restaurant, its qn experience, a glimps into the stock exchange and a bit of history, combined with great food, great interior, and good old service.Surprisingly well priced.I had the steak tartar, marvelous!Definitely on Joburg todo restaurants!

The food, service, and ambiance are amazing. The location is quite perfect too. Adored their book collection. Makes for a good companion for solo dates.

The seating arrangement was socially distanced and attentive servers constantly checking on us. The wine, beer and spirits paired well with the food. The food selection is eclectic and tasted delicious. I am a customer for life and will gladly return on my next visit to South Africa.

Not worth the price and really shocking service. I was excited to try the bull run as I heard there steaks were delicious. It was on the pricey side but for a good steak I was willing to pay the price. Unfortunately a good steak it was not. The flavours and combinations were just okay at best and it was dry and over-cooked. On top of this the service was shocking. The waiter would take half the tables orders and then leave before getting the rest of the orders. He did this a few times which was really bizarre and made it difficult to lock down proper round of drinks so in the end we all only ended up ordering one.The vibe seems lively and I think it has many people coming in for drinks after work so I imagine it gets pretty full on Thursdays and Fridays. So perhaps for cocktails it would be fun. But I wouldnt go here again simply because I dont believe it was worth the price.

Phenomenal restaurant with world-class food.

Everything was good! I liked it a lot and Id say that is one of my faves restaurants. Also, it is better if you go with your groups of friends.

I am so terribly disappointed with this restaurant. For the price- I expected a fine dining experience… my boyfriend and I booked for a special occasion. They confirmed our booking through email and text message, however, when we arrived we were told ‘we are filming here sorry, try the Protea’. So we walked to the Protea and were shown to a dark, dingy room and told this is where the Bull Run had put us. I am beyond disgusted.

Fantastic service and large portions, we had burgers and were left fully satisfied. Only reason for not giving 5 stars is because the online booking allowed me to book for 12:00 on Sunday when the restaurant and kitchen only opens at 12:30

We went to this restaurant during Restaurant week. We had a set menu because of the special. A let down was that everyone around us got a welcoming bread basket except us. Food was nice though. Wine is heavy overpriced with a R65 rand bottle of wine costing way over R250!

Had dinner at the bull run during restaurant week. Everything was exceptional and the wine selection is impressive. The restaurant itself is wheelchair friendly, but not the bathrooms. I.e. bathrooms can only be accessed via stairs.

Worst steak Ive ever had in my entire life. Same experience by my guests which I took there hoping for good food. Even the steak knife could not cut though the meat - it was that hard. Wont ever try them out again. Such a disappointment - and then I still had to pay for myself and my guests

Food was great and awesome service from staff. We had the 350g fillet steak and Greek Salad. Both was done excellent and was perfect for the date my wife and I were on. Left there feelings completely satisfied with the entire experience wanting us to return soon. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Unfortunately very bad service and no management. The kitchen is also lacking and is not able to cook meat to the correct levels. Could be an amazing restaurant just need more observant staff and management and a kitchen staff that is well trained. Waited almost an hour for food which is awful. How can a steak take an hour when it has a start to finish cook time of about 8 minutes?

Beautifully designed and decorated restaurant. Open-style kitchen and bar. We had a number of great salads as starters and both beef and fish for main. Everything very tastfull .Also an interesting wine card. Staff was very attentive and friendly. Deserts were a disappointment. The brownie was a chocolate cake, and the tiramisu prepared without the marsala wine. Strange. And finally I have to mention that acoustics was a nightmare. Very difficult to have a conversation. Unfortunately. All-in-all a four!

We came here for Xmas lunch. Service was good but I got food poisoning bc of the Portuguese beef. I felt sick the whole day and threw up later. Supposedly raw beef won’t make ppl sick unless the beef is bad.

Food was delicious and thoroughly enjoyed. Unfortunately the evening I went it was rowdy and noisy and didnt enjoy as one had to shout across the table to be heard. Seems to be the local hangout for after work drinkers and big groups. Maybe next time will be a better experience.

The prices are really high. I know of other places I would take people to and spend the same amount but in a more upmarket establishment. It feels like a noisy pub environment but with semi nice decor. Wouldnt return.

Service initially was very very bad. However, management did address the issues we faced and tried their best to rectify, hence the 3 star. Food was good and if they get their operational issues sorted, it is a good place to go to.

This is my 3rd time dinning in this restaurant. The food OK. Nice presentation, but taste can be improved.As for the service, it was a great experience. Most of the staff were generally friendly. During my 3 times dinning, I was served by Ephraim and Priscilla.. Both were extremely friendly and genuine. They will checked on me periodically to ensure my comfort during the meal. Excellent service provider.

Very good service. Meat was nicely done. I ordered the ostrich medium raw and it came out juicy and flavourful. Will definitely come back here again. Their mussels was tasty too although their mussels are small sized ones.

This is an upscale restaurant that has obviously put some effort in.i had a disappointing start to my visit when i was poorly attended to by first one waiter when i walked in, and then another as i seated myself (nobody assisted me to a table). my stay afterwards was however excellent, with fantastic food, great service (polite and fast) and an apology from the manager.not a cheap outing, but recommendable.

A great place with a fabulous menu. The service was slow due to Corona layoffs and too little waiters. But, the food was delicious. Their Portuguese steaks were of the best ever!! Thick, juicy and melt-in-your-mouth type of steaks. Highly recommended

We went for Christmas lunch. They had a 4 course set meal which was pretty good for the price.

The food here is really horrible... the steak was so bland and their kingklip tasted like egg... it took the kitchen 30 mins to prepare my husbands rib eye that had zero flavor nor taste... we will definitely not be coming back here! 1 star for their malva pudding and the mash.

We had lunch at the Bull Run, some friends received a regular menu card, I had to scan the menu. Orders were taken in written form. Unfortunately when plates arrived some items were missing (in the salad, side dishes on the main course). Food quality was excellent. When it came to settle the bill, there was a confusion. Some charges were on the bill, but were not offered at lunchtime (see missing items). We asked for a correction. The new bill was wrong again.... We had to ask for a second correction. Service was low standard. Please work on it! (That happened 5 months ago)Today we tried again the restaurant. Unfortunately the service was a catastrophy, we were a party of 9, waited 2 hours to get served for dinner. Even with 3 apologies from the staff I cannot recommend the place. Again not everybody was served at the same time, side orders were missing. Very poor.

Food was really good. Enjoyed the fact that they had volumes for how many times a meal has been ordered.I was a little disappointed that there wasnt a variety for a steakhouse i.e. beef ribs or lamb shank. However my waiter did explain to me that you often change the menu.A suggestion would be to explain what the columns next to the volumes is, couldnt find that in your menu.

What a disappointment, entrance into the place is nice however got taken to the back close to the kitchen area. The decor is not even the same Service is poor and its about turnaround of people. Got so frustrated sitting there, ate our food and got out. The bull run will never see me again.

Went there for a Saturday lunch, place was very relaxing and quiet. Service from all the staff was exceptional and very friendly. We had a baby cart on our group, and they went out of the way to assist us. As for the food itself, I ordered the ribs, which came out a bit dry but tasted alright.

The best steak I have had in a long time.The value for money on the special was incredible, however the normal menu prices are really reasonable considering the location and quality.Service was average - our waiter disappeared a few times and we were kept waiting.The restaurant owner/manager was really friendly and helpful.Overall I would definitely go back.
