I literally eat at Fumo every week. Every time it’s a culinary experience. Ask for the specials, they always have something coming in that is not on the menu.

What can i say from entering Fumo we got great service. We got two oysters compliments from the chef. The waiters are good and fast. They are very friendly. Im happy that i took one of the recommended choices it was great. Thanks Fumo !!!!

Some of the food is amazing. Waiters and chefs are friendly. The manager/ owner isn’t very friendly. He would walk around and greet other patrons with big groups but never approached me. I ate there several times and not once did he welcome me or ask if everything was okay. Fortunately the rest of the staff made up for this. I found that there is inconsistency in the pricing. Each time I went I would either get charged a different rate for the same dish or the price went up or it was taken off the menu. There was also inconsistency in what was served with the dish I ordered. Sometimes I would get fresh bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dipping. Sometime not. Once I requested it and the waiter said I will be charged for it because it doesn’t come with the meal. I just got the sense that management was trying to cut corners to maximize profits without due consideration of the customers. I stopped going as a result.

The superb and friendly way and manner the waitress attend to clients is worth writing home about.The manager, Deborah is outstanding in her interactions, full of smiles and always ready to make sure clients receive the maximum service satisfaction. Service was average. No menus were given, service was slow, Corona protocols were taken lightly. But at least the food was good.

The food was tasty but not worth the price Im afraid. The pizza is not a thin and crispy base, its more glutinous but still full of flavour. The wine list is so limiting if youre not prepared to spend between R300 to R1000 for a bottle of red. A glass of red was R85 which is ludicrous. And the restaurant was dead quiet for a Friday night. Was left quite disappointed after all the great reviews.

We booked for Christmas Day. They ran out of cutlery and serving dishes for desserts. They did not have juice and other non alcoholic drinks. They did not have a drinks menu. The main portion was small and not tasty. They overcharged us on the tip and tried to make us pay more than what was due. Overall, the staff seemed unprepared and distracted and the experience was not worth the price charged.

Incredible food and drinks. With a very sophisticated atmosphere. Great for special occasions.On the downside, it is rather on the pricey side. With many other restaurants in the area offering food of the same quality but at half the price. The service was also rather slow even though the restaurant was mostly empty.

At first we thought we were not going to enjoy our night due to lack of good service, however the Manager came through and made our night special and wonderful. The place is nice and cozy, with a romentic setup.

Service was okay, but at this price point one expects much more in terms of the food quality. I was served store bought pasta... It was dissapointing.Also, the restaurant automatically adds a service charge to your bill, so beware when paying.2 years ago I rated this restaurant 5 stars, but the ambience and food quality is no longer there. New management is just not up to standard. What a pity.

The staff werent attentive enough. Whenever we needed something we had to wait too long for someone to come to the table, then they would forget what we ordered, come back after a long while, tell us they dont have what we ordered or get it wrong. I had crab in my dish and they didnt have the correct cutlery to crack open the crab. The waitress tried her best to convince us to buy an entire meal to the cost of R173 rather than just listening to us when we asked for a side dish with our order. The price of the food compared to the service you get just is not worth it. The restuarant wasnt even busy and it was Sunday lunch time. That says alot too. And when we called the manager, he reprimanded the (wrong) waitress right at our table, making it so awkward. The staff must be trained correctly. Half the time someone else had to help us because our waitress was absent so often. We were two people with a bill over R1000. You would think that would equate to better treatment. They didnt bring an ashtray for a really long time even when we asked for it twice and we specifically sat in the smoking section to smoke. By the time our bill came they hadnt changed our ashtray even once, meaning that we had a dirty ashtray all through our meal.

Their Valentines evening was an epic fail.After having to secure a booking for R200 we arrived to tables that were not set,the service was horrible given 1 food menu and 1 wine list menu to share the waiter didnt know anything about the food on the menu let alone the wine,non alcoholic beverages not listed on the menu.....We waited over 30mins for our drinks to arrive and another hour for the food of which when it eventually arrived was not what we ordered nor was the steak prepared the way we had asked.We ordered fillet steak with tomatoes and capers but we got steak with mushroom sauce and spinach whats the point of putting things on the menu when you know your chef cant make them?After the manager begged us and the desperation of our waiter we obliged because we felt sorry for them and we know how staff can be treated in the food service industry we paid and took the food to go.This was the worst experience,so much for the hype and marketing for this lousy evening

Fumo is a classy, clean and excellent setting for fine dining. The food is fresh, the background music is great and the service is satisfactory. I would go eat there again!

Great food. Service was terrible which was disappointing as I had been looking forward to eating there for a while. Service was very slow and the waiters forgot some of our drink orders and the place was not that busy. It took a while to get menus and have our orders taken. We were all happy with our meals when they arrived. The servers forgot to bring my mother in law’s dessert order that was placed on arrival as it was her birthday.

The service was amazing and our waiter was so friendly.I knew from reading the reviews that Id have a good time but my expectations were exceeded.Now dont get me started on the food... Yho best pasta experience of my life so far. Im sure to go back there.

Excellent starters! The food was very well presented and is definitely good. A pity that they add a 10% service charge to the bill - that leaves a bad taste in the mouth...

A friend of mine interviewed there. The restaurant does not pay wait staff anything for their shifts, and they need to survive solely on tips. They also do not get a staff meal, or meal on the shift, as is customary in many restaurants. For a restaurant priced like Fumo is, one could imagine that they would be able to pay and feed their staff properly. The food I did have there some time ago was somewhat bland and not all that good. Avoid.

Loved the vibe & personal interaction with the owner. The private room upstairs is very intriguing... Also very cool that its one of the very few date-night-worthy restaurants thats open late on a Sunday in Pretoria. However, they tend to be out of stock of a lot of menu items when you go that late in the week.

Perfect place for date night. Its not crowded, there are cosy places available, the food is amazing and the atmosphere tops. Definitely going back soon. Great waiters and hostess too.

Food was fine. Service is a hit or miss... We got a different price on items to what was charged from the staff and the staff were rather blasé about it, when we questioned it. There is also a service charge added to the bill which can be missed and you end up double tipping

The food was not fine dinning quality - pizza was burnt (over powered all other flavours) and the risotto was over salted. Would not recommend if you are looking for a great food experience.

Absolutely shocked at the treatment we received. Looking at the price point, one would expect service to be informed and efficient. Also an empty kitchen at 6:30pm doesnt instill confidence. Never mind we booked for a jazz night that was not on the night we booked despite specifically asking for it. Im very sorry I just dont buy it. Cant seem to find a website or a menu to review. And I think we were lied to by a very gruff confronting chef de patrone. Caution!

My first time to Fumo. it is quite nicely situated and for a Friday evening was almost empty, although it could be because we were early. the restaurant itself has a lovely ambiance and quite spacious. The waitron was quite professional and helpful and knew the menu quite well. The food although served in ample quantities was somewhat average. I ordered rissotto, which just did not do it for me.

Poor service, disappointing food quality. Bad management attitude. Perhaps theyre not doing well. We wont be back.

Place is falling apart. Good food but not enough value for money. Their wine is also very expensive.

Excellent place

So many items out of stock, with an empty restaurant we were told we need to wait for menus to become available from one of the other 4 tables.Manager took the order but not before sending a waitress to try and figure out the order as he had forgotten it. The pizza I ordered came out to the table with cold cheese on it and had to be sent back. The waiters didnt now the food/dishes that they were serving. The owner had no sense of service or customer relations. It was pathetic to say the least. A word of advise, give it a skip. The whole experience was mediocre with below average food topped off with a generous portion of heavy metal music to ruin the atmosphere.

It looks fancy with all the recommendation on the outside... However if youre looking for uncooked pasta and very possibly the worst magarita pizza on earth...Then this place may be just perfect for you. We gonna give it a skip next and every other time 😝

Only 3 of the 10 cocktails were available. The seafood mains dont come with sides, even though the menu gave me that impression. The entrees took really long. My seafood caserole missed 2 of the 5 ingedients as they were out of stock.. We went out for fine dining, but was irritated a bit about half of our time spent here.

I would rate a 5 star normally, but since the revamp, they have lost some of the quality and charm of the previous restaurant. Decent food, but there are better options available if you want variety.

Order number 4DC33, Uber eats last night, was the second and last time I order food from this Italian place, which Italian sends rock hard pasta with no parmesan when I specifically added a special instruction, parmesan please, doubt I should have to mention that though, last night I ordered their oxtail, it was flavorless and so tough that I couldnt even get the meat off the bone... Big disappointment and I am overall disgusted!!!
