Worst service ever, booked two rooms and paid the full amount, then the owner called and asked if he can move us to another house (not what we asked for, nor what we booked but he was all to happy to take our money) after we canceled our reservation due to unforeseeable circumstance (COVID curfew being the main reason) he refused to pay back all the money, this after he wanted to move us to another place.WILL NEVER RECOMMEND HIS PLACES!!

I honestly think this place was just wrongly advertised. I was very disappointed.

Everything was in order, the place was nice and neat.Entertainment at its best, and the owner was very welcoming.

Decent place for a sleep-and-go type of setting, no breakfast as promised on bookings.Com, rooms are extremely small and theres no kitchen wiping cloth!! 😩 WiFi doesnt connect. Otherwise Lyle and his family are nice and welcoming, the swimming pool wasnt available because Lyles kids are always there, also the kids are cute but they can make a noise,if youre looking for privacy and relaxation this is not an ideal place, its great if you just want a place to lay your head and move the next morning. There was no breakfast as well. I had higher expectations as shown in the pictures. Its a very basic place dont expect much. When my partner and I went to the pool we found the kids running around with granny relaxing there, when we got there the kids asked granny whos that? 😂😂😩 very uncomfortable. we just turned back to that little room by the gate. The pool area was also messy with toys everywhere, it felt like we were invading the familys privacy

This is one of the best places you could ever stay at in Pretoria. The service is amazing and the place is very clean, secure and in a quiet neighborhood. There is a shopping complex a few minutes away and it is easily accessible.Great value for your money :)Have been there twice and will most definitely keep coming back.

I have never enjoyed myself like I did at this place, its really a home away from home! My kids had a lovely time with Lyles kids... Lyles family is really an amazing family.. May God bless them!! I would recommend this place highly!! I am coming back next year!!!

Great place and location. Budget wise give them 5 star. Just need warmer settings/options to warm the place up in winter. Overall it is nice

I had a great stay, a very nice a quiet area and the staff is so friendly . The shopping center is close by. Everything was easier to do. I definitely would come back.

Lyle is a Super Host and the reason why hes guesthouse is very successful, We felt welcomed and comfort. Cottage guesthouse is a great home away from home feel, close to high way. Clean and peaceful. WARNING - DO NOT BOOK. THIEF, con-artists, liar.I paid upfront for my stay from 19 January 2020 - 24 January 2020 (through Booking.com): ZAR 1,991.96. I was asked to leave the property on 20 January 2020 - Lyle prefers to make space for 6 people who will be staying for 1 month and will earn him more money, but now I am in the way (despite having booked, paid and being confirmed first).Naturally I feel unwelcome and agree to move to a nearby property he runs. I immediately feel unsafe, uncomfortable and hate the smell of smoke everywhere in this place. I call him, explain the situation and ask for a refund for the nights I didnt stay as I will rather find another safe place to go stay (where my business will be respected and valued).I am told and texted that a refund will be made (yes - I have the WhatsApp chat proof and will share it with the world if you so wish!).After surviving this traumatising experience in January, I follow up in February - suddenly a refund cant be made. I reach out to Booking.com for help - March they inform me that he has agreed to a partial refund and to send my banking details to him - I send it. Nothing. I follow up with him again in June - still nothing.Lyle has officially stolen ZAR 1,200.00+ from me.This solo, female traveler has been lied to, stolen from and taken advantage of by this liar. Ive given him 5 months to own up to his promise - he still hasnt - now I am driven to write this review to warn others about this THIEF.DO NOT BOOK. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.Further warnings:You will get the small room in the front of the property despite the bigger room in the back being available (as many reviewers here point out that pictures dont match) but you only get that room next time you come visit (nice one, con-artist).If you pay the full amount before arriving Lyle will ask you to leave before you stay the time. If you do not leave, he will move your stuff - see Patrick Gonzagues review (this is really concerning).As many other guests indicate here, he will suggest moving you to this other guesthouse in the area as an upgrade. DO NOT GO! It is horrendous and he simply doesnt want you at his property. His charming words and smooth talking will lead you to believe you can trust him and that this is a nice property.This is NOT AN UPGRADE! It smells like smoke, is dirty, has no private kitchen in the room I was offered (unless I stayed in that awful room for 1 day and then got moved to another disgusting room which apparently has a kitchen, but I cant verify because it was occupied by a family of Congolese who were busy having a party and smoking who knows what), and has horrible steep parking directly in the sun. Bishop Malawiar, the manager there also cant speak proper English and does not maintain the property (disgusting ash trays everywhere).I called him, met up and explained that I feel unsafe, uncomfortable and would prefer a refund so that I may find another place to stay. He suggested another apartment (very far away and not in the area at all) and if not, he will refund. (Yes, I have this in the WhatsApp chat).I left the awful property trusting Lyle to do a partial refund for the dates I didnt stay at his property as he said he would because its easy to do it.5 months later still no refund. This man has LIED, STOLEN, TRAUMATISED and TAKEN ADVANTAGE of me.This review will stay here until I get a refund, Lyle - you will have to trust that I remove it like I trusted you to do that refund we spoke and texted about.Shame on you, your wife and business for taking advantage of a solo female traveler - disgusting. What an example you set as ex-United Nations (UN) Pretoria employee.DO NOT FALL VICTIM to his lies! DO NOT leave until you have money IN YOUR ACCOUNT.You will NOT get your money back. Beds sleep wonderfully! No complaints there. Just would be nice if got milk for coffee facility. Would stay here again. Was in our budget and felt safe. Friendly people

Hot. Uncomfortable. Breakfast was oats with chutney poured over it? ? Internet is terrible. Could not have a skype meeting with it. DSTV is advertised but you share ot with another room. If the other people change their channel, then yours changes as well. Parking arrangement is terrible. Very dangerous parking. Landlord works with electric tools right outside the room and just ignores you when you tell him to stop. Interrupted an important telephone meeting.

The location is calm. After 15 days of stay, I paid cash with my wife Venus for care, this guy had the nerve to take our effects out while we were out. He suggested 1 other guest house but when I called him to take us there he did not answer. We are fussy but in addition, he had the nerve to threaten me for the opinion that I have on Google. Too bad. For someone who loves peace, I deconseil.
