Had a fantastic hike at Made on Earth Hiking Trails. We werent able to explore the cave as we had our dogs, but the caves sounded like a great adventure. The dogs loved the hike and we were able to have a picnic aftewards. Avi was so helpful and a wonderful hostess. Also a big thank you to her and her family for assisting when we had a flat battery.

We loved this walk. We did the red ‘Humbler’ trail. It is a challenging 4.2km with steep, rocky climbs and descents. But it’s worth it for the lovely views and amazing trees, grasses and flowers. We did not see them but there are apparently monkeys and rabbits. There three caves - one is big and needs torches for a proper explore. It starts and finishes with a walk along the Hennops river.Dogs are allowed on an lead. Place for picnics. Watch out for ticks - protect the humans and dogs.

At arrival we got greeted by the friendly host that told us about the history of Made on Earth hiking trails and explained  the trails to us. This was our first time on the Made on earth hiking trails. The hike was nice and challenging with a beautiful views. There are caves to explore so bring a headlight if you plan to go down in them. We went down to the mouth of the cave and it was exhilarating. The walk along the river was beautiful and magical like walking through a forest. All around us the sounds of birds, insects buzzing and we ate some mulberries. After exiting the forest you experience the open landscape and start climbing the hills of the mountain. This was  mesmerizing with beautiful purple flowers and trees. We were surprised by a bit of rain that cooled us down in the heat of the day. After a challenging climb over the mountain we went down and arrived at a cave. We then walked down to the end of the trail back through the forest. The hike was very peaceful with alot to see of nature. This is a must for people that enjoy hiking.

She explained everything to us about the trails and gave us some few useful tips to use on the difficult parts and i must say those tips did really help us get through. As a first time hiker i found the trails challenging and yet exciting. A beautiful scenery. All in all the experience was amazing and will definitely be going back. i highly recommend it

What an experience! This was our first time to Made on Earth Hiking Trails, we took our three dogs with us and had an adventurous day out! Avi and her family are wonderfully friendly and welcoming. They have only been open to the public for a few months so trails are brand new. There is so much potential here and we are so excited to hear of some future developments! It’s going to be fantastic. As a beginner hiker with three dogs, we found the trail to be a fair challenge! - we did manage with lots of rests along the way. The heat on the day that we went didn’t make it any easier but the scenery was absolutely beautiful. We lost the trail markings at one point (because we were keeping more of an eye on the dogs than the markings) but Avi was a phone call away to help us navigate our way back onto the right path. They do have plans to provide more detailed maps. There are some caves to explore but we didn’t get a chance to go inside as the dogs were very eager to get back and cool off. Older dogs may struggle on the trail if they aren’t fit, ours were probably silently swearing at us all the way home! Dogs do need to stay on lead but we found in some sections they had to go up on their own to avoid tripping up on the loose rocks. It was a great day out and we will be back again soon!A note on how to get there: use the directions that take you via Centurion through Erasmia to avoid driving on dirt roads and through the Hennops River just off the R511 (unless you have a 4x4 in which case it’s pretty fun!). Also, there are clean bathrooms at the property! Looking forward to seeing how this place develops! A truly special gem that will soon be very popular!

The service is out of this world, Avi is the genuine person with a good heart, the hiking trail is new, so is currently perfect for hiking. You can hike and braai at the venue.Scenery is beautiful, the hike is easy of you are fit.I will definitely go again for the following reasons:1. Avi was patient with us.2. Very accomodative3. Extended her kindness by calling us after hike, just to check if we all made it home safe.4. The scenery is beautiful, caves are adventurous 😍😍5. They busy extending the trail, so I will go for a longer one.6.The Place is still exclusive, so is not as congested like most of the hiking trails in Gauteng lately.

The only notation I would make is theres woodcutters in the area and its not 100% safe but if you have a group with a couple of men on board theres safety in numbers.

This was an amazing experience. Booking was easy and the people are friendly. We were well informed about the trail and difficulty level. It was lovely to start off hiking along the Hennops River and hearing the river. The views are amazing, especially once you reach the top of the mountain where we stopped for a picnic. There was a steep hill, but its totally manageable as my 3 daughters coped well. We witnessed a troop of monkeys, which is always so exciting and my kids absolutely loved the caves and the climbing. I dont enjoy hiking on a flat surface, so this was perfect for us, just the right amount of climbing made this feel like a genuine hike. At no stage did we feel unsafe either. It was definitely an enjoyable experience and we will definitely be going back. Thanks to all who made it amazing.

Was a nice hike, sadly some issues: caves are filthy, and looked lived in, not protected at all, garbage etc. Route blue, yellow markers are not clear on route to what distance or cave your hiking to. Otherwise area is scenic, some parts of route sharp incline to challenge you. A pity about the dirty caves, possibly the main reason why your bats are not staying in them

Was warned of apparant wood cutters, but didnt come across any.The cave is a definite must see....amazing to see a cave right here in mountains so close by.The trails with the different difficulty levels, an absolute must try for newbies through to the more avid hikers.Snacks and cold drinks are available for purchase, all in all, what a memorable experience...I wish you all well and look forward to being back soon!

A new hike that has lots of potential. Beautiful scenery and views. Was great to explore the caves along the hiking trail. Staff were friendly.Unfortunately there are some areas of the trail that require more signage and the trail has many areas that may be accessed by locals such as woodcutters and people that perform religious acts. I would recommend a clean up along the river. Pricing is a bit steep at R85 per adult in comparison to other hiking trails around Gauteng.I look forward to more routes that will be offered at this hiking venue.

We’ve started 2021 with a BANG by doing this awesome hike with friends. We did the Humbler trail of 4.2 kms. The best part was going into the big cave. A bit of a challenge for the faint hearted but for the brave hearted, a moment you can add to your bucket list! Remember to take a strong torch/flashlight. Our youngest hiker is 7yrs and the eldest 72yrs. Anyone can do this! Thank you Avi for your warm welcome and information sharing about the area and the hike.A bonus - My husband lost all his credit cards and id on the hike. Avi and her team did a lot effort to look for it, and kept us updated! Luckily a hiker picked it up the next day. Now that is going the ‘extra mile’ ! 😁

Had high hopes for this hike as other spots are so crowded. Started out well with scenic views and a lovely walk next to the river. This was marred by being pelted with a rock from above, narrowly missing my head, by some unknown person, in the grotto just above the river, shortly after the two trails split. If it had hit its target, I fear serious injury would have occurred. Unfortunately we were also not informed of the difficulty level of this hike - we were told there is a steep incline, which did not accurately describe the severity and steep gradient of it, including the loose rocks on the trail. The trail is also close to a heavily populated informal settlement, with a lot of woodcutters accessing the trail, which could possibly lead to trouble. This listing should have a difficulty-level posting, to warn people that it is not an easy walk. The access road is also questionable, as our drivers cars bumper was ripped off due to it being quite low profile - we had been told the road is safe and many low cars had made it down that particular area.I feel that the R85 charged, is a bit much for a potentially unsafe trail. In all, we were disappointed by the lack of communication about abovementioned problems, and will not be back.

What an absolutely stunning place to walk. Trails are clearly marked. We went on the red trail to the top of the hill. The flora is incredible! Really beautiful aloe marlothi and the coral trees were in bloom. Then down to the cave! A proper sized cave with bats, you need to be reasonably fit to get in and out of the cave though. Avi was there to greet us and was so friendly and welcoming.
