So decided to try a Yasong for the first time and let me tell you the experience was bad. First off the menu on their website was outdated so I ordered based on old prices.Sushi: The seaweed was tough, stretchy and chewyChicken Chow Faan: Had cooked cucumbers and cucumber peel (Yuck!) and the rice was sticky and clumpySezchuan Chicken had chicken that had a tempura coating that had more coating that chickenOverall I will not be going back. Rather stick to our regular Rong Hing Chinese in Midway Mews.PS. I did upload the new menu
Became an addiction! Friendly staff and great food, must try the szechuan chicken
The yasong food its very teste especially main dishes like happy sweet sours
Do yourselves a favor and dont bother ordering. Tried it for the first time and can confidently say NEVER AGAIN......
Terrible - but I am not rating the sushi, but the complete lack of customer service - because I never received my order.Order placed at 17:35, was told would take around 40 minutes - but gave them extra time and arrived to collect at 18:50 - only to be told its almost ready, would be another 10 minutes - so paid and went to buy some groceries from Checkers.Came back at 19:10 and lo and behold, they had just starting making the order. I was no thank you, got a blank stare back - had to demand a refund because they were but we just started, eventually after a few more minutes of blank stares received the refund and left.///edit - just read the review before mine, almost identical issue - over an hour and a half wait with a manger that lies to their clients. Looks like at least I dodged a bullet from the sushi quality. Yasong owner needs to do some urgent staff training. Will not be back - ordered my sushi from Yamada just down the road.
I ordered on Uber eats and they took more than 1.5 hours to prepare my order. (before driver even received my food) (got info from driver as to what happened in restaurant)when I phoned the restaurant and asked for progress the manager lied and told me driver was being given the food... that was the same for 3 calls. Then when I asked him to cancel the order he refused and then stopped taking calls. The manager is rude and arrogant, i have never been so disgusted with the service a restaurant can give.I spent so much on what turned out to be rubbish stodgy sushi and cold oily, and congealed spring roll.Yasong Bromhof is decent, but dont know how this lot are still open.I wouldnt let that manager run a tap let alone a restaurant.
Very disappointed in the authenticity of the food here!! The Mapo Tofu was prepared in a sweet chilli sauce which lacked taste, spice and seasoning. The tempura was just dough batter. Terrible food, will never order again! This is not authentic food, AVOID!
Last two times Ive been Ive gotten half portions of the chow Faan. Only reason its not one star is that the food is good despite being short changed on the portion sizes
Been twice. Been overcharged twice. Wouldnt mind so much but the food is very average indeed. Wont be back.
Buy one get one free sushi on Monday is great
Their crystal shrimp dumpling are very delicious
We really did not enjoy our meal at Yasong. We ordered the following:*Tempura chicken strips - it was extremely oily, and tasted like old oil. The chicken crumbs were also not tempura batter, but rather tasted almost like those prawn chips.*Sushi - the portions are quite small, we got the buy one, get one free special, and it still felt a bit expensive considering the portion sizes.-the maki (seaweed) that they use is extremely tough and thick, making it very difficult to chew through, to the point that we had to remove some of the Maki to make it easier to eat. The taste of the Maki was also a bit off...-the rice was very firm, and almost seemed to have been overcooked. We really did not have a good experience, and will not be going back.Ps. It is impossible to find their updated menu online.
Will not recommend bad customer service and packed with missing items to the order.
This is my new found restaurant yaong, yasong very good name. The staff told me that yasong means beautiful, healthy, and longevity. Beautiful means: a comfortable environment. Health means: green and healthy food. Longevity: It is a family with healthy bodies and happiness that we all yearn for. Thats great!I ordered fried dumplings, jasmine tea, and sushi. It was really delicious. The staffβs service level is questionable. My cost is R150 is not expensive, really value for money. I am very happy to share my experience with you.
Not the best Sushi for the price you pay. They mixed up my orders, but would think this is an exception rather than the norm. Its descent food but wouldnt come back.
Sushi is great. Would recommend ordering a takeaway as the restaurant seating is tacky.
Love the food!Sometimes its a hit or miss with how good it is.Definitely recommend there yasong crispy with pork.
Delivery received. Not a very pretty sight! Appetite was gone immediately after seeing this!
Great Sushi.
Dont know which is worse, the disgusting food or terrible serviceYou will definitely be in for disappointment
Worst takeaway experience I have ever had. Promised two for one special but did not deliver. I paid R20 extra for Japanese mayonnaise but it didnt arrive, I ordered tuna but got salmon and the R70 bao buns were completely left out of my order. I understand that mistakes happen but when I called they blew me off and told me to talk to uber eats. And to top it off the sushi was disgusting. I fed it to my dogs and then ordered from a new restaurant.
Totally overpriced. Portions tiny. We took 3 dished for 2 of us.Not worth the money we paid.
I find myself coming here often. Its very convenient. Although the price of the dish differs by nearly R11-if you visit Happy valley down the road but your dish if a far better meal. More healthy if anything else.Maybe you should consider a wider drinks selection?
Good service from the lady at the till.
Terrible customer service
Lovely Sushi and Chinese food.
Sushi wasnt bad but we were the only 4 people in the restaurant and waited sooooo long. The staff didnt seem too concerned and kind of ignored us. Ordered the buffet and couldnt really get the value for our money since we only received 4 plates of sushi in about and hour. Not a great experience.
Unfortunately I was not impressed. The sushi was basic with the minimum on, nothing special. Did not look like the photo at all.
Excellent service and fresh fish used. Wide range of sushi and R185pp buffet Tuesday to Sunday. Monday buy 1 get 1 free.
Terrible service. Staff doesnt care at all
Delicious food
Good sushi, even if on the slightly pricier side in comparisons with others. Buffet option is good if you typically eat 6 plates, and they include 1 sashimi into that, which other shops explicitly exclude.Great platters as well, but quite a limited array of drinks.
The longest wait for the worst sushi ever. We ordered at 17:40, it is now 18:27 and we have only received half of the order! The place stink of sweat, no aircon/ventilation. Horrific experience.
This is the most adorable place to be, the food is delicious, the service is excellent, the sushi is amazing and the sushi chefs are friendly. Everything is top notch excellent. The shop is always clean and fresh. Big up Yasong!
My favourite sushi place in town. Freshly made food. Friendly staff. Reasonably priced.
Best sushi place ever!!
This restaurant has deteriorated drastically, the food is tasteless, the veg chop suey tastes likes its been cooked in old water, the rice is definitely not fresh and the edemame beans were cooked to death!! No management, no owner interest, very sad!!! A future NO
Really delicious food. Very good service.
It was amazing! Best sushi Ive had in years
We were extremely loyal to this restaurant. Ordering from them on a weekly basis... But their customer service tonight was so poor, not fulfilling our order and making the problem ours to solve. As of tonight, we will not be going there again... So disappointed!
My new weekly favourite! The sushi buffet for R180 is completely worth it, safe parking, nice sitting area, friendly staff.
Outside seating. Sushi OK. No real atmosphere. Service OK.Used a Hyperli voucher so the value for money was good.
Below average. Chow mein is good. Everything else on the menu tastes exactly like each other and isnt good at all. Ordered salmon sushi and the salmon tasted old and had an overpowering fishy taste.
Honestly I feel like crying π ordered for the famous dumplings and what I got was finger looking shrinked stuffed pastery completely tasteless with different sauce from the ones I see here on line. Paid 176 for 4 very small dumplings and rice with duck meat but I still feel like I didnt eat. Waste of time and money
Best value for money on the all you can eat buffet!
Good service and Fresh food. Sushi its very nice . Fish fresh ππππ
Very unprofessional. Waited 45 minutes and then the food was not even good. Looks like the dumplings was boiled in water and the main thing is the staff all was fighting in the kitchen.
The food was good and service great π
Absolutely loved this place....their sashimi is nice and fresh
Even with about 10 staff members and an empty restaurant it took over 30mins to make 8 pieces of sushi that tasted below average. But it was half price on a Monday so if you want cheap sushi go on Monday
Its really just a Chinese takeaway with a few in-the-car-park tables, specialized in slapping lipstick onto the proverbial sushi pig.Despite being a quiet night, the near-absent service was unbearably slow, under the aloef oversight of a seemingly disinterested Chinese proprietor who mostly tended to his laptop. The expense of the nearly-all-rice sushi is obscured by a window dressing of cucumber art that will delight children and village idiots alike. After 17 minutes in the kitchen, it took a further 12 minutes and 4 sets of hands at the counter to rearrange the California rolls around the cucumber & carrot ornaments into the final presentation. Its not that it was horrible... Its that it wasnt sushi. Sushi is meant to be made quickly by a reasonably skilled chef, not a team of yoyos, and shouldnt require lengthy reconsideration and repeated handling before being served. ...and is it really so conceited to want sushi that sports more than shrink-wrap slithers of fish stretched across those phallic rolls of rice? But, for just under five hundred bucks, we got some cucumber animal cut outs that my 4 year old gleefully recognized, which earned Yasong 2 hearty stars.
Chinese food is okay but not too fond of the sushi. Used to be better when they first opened and the owner prepared the sushi.
Ordered the chow faan a few times. Quiet delicious.
Delicious sushiπ£π₯.... Staff was very friendlyπ... Will be back for sure
Very tasty food, lots of variety
Ordered from here lastnight. Both wife and I ended up sick this morning. Mapo Tofu was terrible, should not call it Mapo Tofu on the menu. Bhohaus bun was hard and overcooked. Steamed pork wanton was under steamed and dough was hard. How can you get it so wrong?Chef may of just had a bad day but there is plenty other authentic Chinese takeaways in the area that I have not had this experience with.
ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE EVENING. Such amazing presentationπππ
We ordered sushi and had to wait over 35 mins to get our order. Its extremely slow and the restaurant is not busy. Theres not much variety of sushi to chose from and the sushi was average.
The crispiest beef Ive ever had, would have been perfect if I hadnt found a fly in it. Sushi is below average.
Food was so salty it was impossible to eat. Manager would not come out so I could explain that to him.
Have always LOVED their spring rolls BUT tonights was terrible. Burnt, dripping in oil, onions soggy and something other like dough and even worse was the sauce which was thickened and tasted like vinegar. Lets believe a once off.
Great food and atmosphere!
Took over an hour to prepare two noodle dishes. Restaurant was not even busy
I have had two mains, I couldnβt finish either, wouldnβt recommend there food itβs a pity because there service is fantastic better than most places.
The food was excellent. The waiting period was not long & the staff was very friendly
Great sushi, dim sums, take aways and eat In
Best sushi in Johannesburg! Lovely people, affordable and great atmosphere
Awesome food, love the sushi specials. Can pay attention to the service and turnaround time when sitting down - be prepared to wait/be patient - overall a good experience.
Try the fried dumpling and some dim sum delights.
Always great going for delicious Sushi and Chinese beer at Yasong.
Poor quality sushi. Slapped together like it was done by a child, salmon tastes old, portions a rip off for the price being charged.
The best sushi we have ever tasted!
Very bad sushi. Worst ever we ate. Never go there
I found my food quite bland but my partner thoroughly enjoyed his food.
Enthusiastic staff, warm dining environment, delicious food.
Very disappointing how small the size of sushi has become! They are only bite size now . Not worth the cost
Sweet and sour pork ribs are really delicious.
Is so lovely and the food is superlicious and the provide good service
Only 1 of 3 places in Midrand that I can definitely recommend for those Sushi Cravings we get!
Very friendly staff, great service...
A good dinner is spent here.
Food was ok, wait was long
Its OK.. Sushi had 80% rice and 20 fish... Not a great propotion
Clean healthy and nice food
Amazing stuff members
There food is in fact excellent
Terrible sushi. Not authentic at all
Nice sushi and Chinese food
