I have frequented the Mall of Africa Life Grand Cafe over the past 5 years and have always enjoyed the food and drinks. I am very certain that today was my last time at that restaurant and possibly the others too. The staff are very off-putting! Had a long date (planned for 5 hours) and so we ordered light meals and drinks. After 2.5 hours we were not ready to order our mains but were still ordering drinks. Kudzi the waiter told us that it was unacceptable because it is a Saturday and at that time our bill was already R700. So we were not necessarily hoarding a table without bringing in the business. Plus there were many open tables! My date and I were so annoyed by that treatment.Do not go there if you want a place where you will sit freely and engage in long conversations over drinks. They clearly want people who want to have quickies and leave.The food was delish, except the sushi. The rice was soggy 😂😂

Delicious food and the waitress was wonderful. Service was exceptionally great and friendly. Very affordable too considering the great quality food and drinks.

What a beautiful cafe. I went with my girlfriend for an early dinner and coffee and we were treated to such a kind gesture from the barista who made the coffee (shown in the image below) that reads Nice couple. You look beautiful. Enjoy. Simple things like this keep people coming back. Beautiful place, good service, quality food & drinks as well as a relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommend.

I honestly thought all Life Grand Cafe were gone. I was pleasantly surprised to find one at Mall of Africa so we took a break between shopping to have something to eat.I ordered the Chicken and Feta Flatbread with some Chilli on the side. It was so yummy, and quite a good portion size too had to take half home. Mom had the simple breakfast option.They also did a great Cappuccino with sufficient fresh cream 😁 so thanks to Linda and team for the service.Glad to see the brand is still going. This was my first time eating at this restaurant. Our waiter William was great, however the food was not up to standard. When we got our food it was cold and no one wants to eat a cold steak. Needless to say I sent it back and when it came back it was the same steak which had been reheated, the end result was it was over cooked. Would not recommend this restaurant and won’t be going back.

A good place but was disappointed when I lost my prescription glasses. The guy in charge was very dismissive when I went the following day, also most assuming I was his staff took the items, while all I wanted were my prescription glasses.They could have been taken by patrons, or anyone really. He refused to check cameras and went on about how his team does not take patrons stuff.The drinks were good, relaxed atmosphere and service was good.

Great ambience. Excellent service. The barista is top notch, one of the best I have ever encountered. The food was on par, but unfortunately only just. For an open chicken mayonnaise sandwich, it had no mayonnaise but instead a salad dressing substitute which I did not enjoy but my fiance did. I liked the addition of the mustard seeds, otherwise served with a few tiny slices of gherkins and 4 slices of tomatoes, asking nearly R90 is a bit steep, as was the croissant served with a few slices of cheese and tomatoes for nearly R50.This cafe has the ability to be extraordinary. The onion marmalade served with the above croissant was simply astonishing, which had a hint of licorice.Hit and miss in certain aspects, industry leaders in others. I certainly will back to try more.

Walked into the seemly beautiful Cafe expecting to be treated with tender loving attention from my previous experience at Life Grand Cafe Waterfall this has been a rather disappointing south turn of experiences.We sat down nicely ushered to our seats. Our drinks: only half came to the table while we waited what seemed like a decade for the other half of the order, our waiter came apologizing saying he had run out and had to go borrow. Through out the evening we had to be looking and asking for basic drinks to be replaced.The decor is so well thought out , perfect lighting and enhancing every space you sit.Sushi - you can spot a place which the sushi is done by a serious novice or non Japanese / Chinese / Mandarin, the salmon rose was more mayonnaise and a truck load of rice is used to complete what’s meant to be a masterpiece. Sushi 3/10There was a manger on duty who was more interested in something happening on his computer screen then checking up on the patrons and never saw him come once to ask how things were, clearly all things ripple from the top.Toilets we nice and clean just out of toilet paper... luckily I check before committing to the seat.No tip for the waiter way to many emergency calls and ordering from other waiters, and we have empathy as we seated have been waiters before in our life so are highly aware of some basic interaction skills.Will we go back yes, might have been a bad day however I have learnt that the best deliver the best regardless of time date and weather.

My wife was craving Salmon Eggs Benedict so we decided to give LCG a try. We were met with the friendliest of greetings by the an extremely professional and knowledgable waitron. The meals arrived relatively quickly and were great.Would I go again? Probably not, heres why;Whilst the service and food were great, there is one big issue here - price. Many restaurants 50 meters away will offer you the a similar experience for a lot less money, you cannot ignore them. And R68 for a 500ml (non-craft) draught beer is borderline ridiculous.

While the food isnt the star of the show, the staff enthusiasm and great service makes this a very pleasant experience

I did not enjoy my dish, sent it back and ordered something else which wasn’t what was described on the menu. Everyone else at the table seemed to have enjoyed their dishes.We had a friendly waiter and was pleased with the service.

Nice ambiance to the place. Great vibe. Prices are reasonable. Food portions are good. We went as a group of 15. The service and selection of food and drinks were really good. We ordered some steaks, which was great. Also ordered some calamari, which was rather disappointing. I specifically asked if it was fresh prior to ordering, but alas is came out dry, chewy and tasteless... definitely not fresh and the cook definitely did not know how to grill it. Nonetheless, the good company and great service made up for it!

The Lazy Breakfast is my favourite from there. The food did take a while to arrive and it was cold, but I guess it was really full. But besides that the service is great very friendly staff

The food was okay my wife really enjoyed her ribs. I had the paihia which was just okay. The shrimp was over cooked and the rice needed additional seasoning in my opinion. The atmosphere was good as they have outdoor dining. Ill go back to try something different before I give a thumbs up or down.

We tried Grand Cafe yesterday for the first time.It was disappointing. The waiters did everything to avoid making eye contact with anyone, our gourmet breads were close to tasteless.Our waiter talent was removing items from our table when we had not even finished it ,dropped thing and was hard to find if you wanted to order.

This is a nice place to hang out and chill. It can get packed and when it does the staff is not that attentive but when you find it not packed everything is on point. Their food is always delish.

We celebrated my Best Friends 21st here.The staff was friendly and the food was spectacular.The restaurant played a song that my friends mom dedicated to my friend. They danced together and that moment there made me tear up. It was so beautiful. 🥺♥️We were so relaxed and the restaurant was kind enough to let us stay for extra few minutes after they had closed, they didnt rush us or tell us its time for you to leave .Ive never experienced such at a restaurant. @LifeGrandCafe Mall of Africa , Shout out to you. 🥰♥️🔥🇿🇦

I Ordered Prawns ☹️All I can say is the presentation of the meal was all that was on point. The prawns that I was served had no taste, they were definitely old - way past their best before date. Manager gave me a look of disbelief when I made him aware. All he said was that he will enquiry with the “the kitchen “ and that was the end of it.The service was equally disappointing - hire more people please a - person can’t be waiting for 15 minutes for a drink that doesn’t even need to be prepared.

Yeah no guys..my experience wasnt that great on 14Feb..we come in and waited 5 min for my table that i reserved. It look like they just put the table there for us. There was nothing on the table like on the other tables. My waiter was slow and my 500g ribs was over cooked and dry. Management must do beter with the food

Starting out upon entering my daughter & I were left standing at matre d table for a good 10 minutes. Afterwards we argued about where we want to sit as to where they think we should be sitting. And it doesn’t end there, after being seated no1 attended to us until I called the manager to enquire whether we just leave or whether someone will be attending to us. The food + service didn’t wow me so yes - 1st impressions last and it will be the very last time I will be eating there.

Food was good. Wouldve been a nice experience if it wasnt for the waiter and the wait time for 3 peoples food. We waited 20min to get our bill after asking 4 times for it. Not only that but the waiter didnt even ask if we enjoyed the meal or anything. Dont let your establishment be ruined by poor waiters.
