I like this store. Prices are somewhat ok, but the variety is a bit narrow. However, I totally understand that its focussed to the masses and not enthusiasts. But overall, they are cool. Ive been here a few times now. Its also one of the few decent pet stores remaining.

The young gentlemen at your till is not very helpful at all.did not bother to greet me when i entered and he offered very little assistance when I asked him any animal related questions. Did not seem interested in helping me and it was a very unpleasant experience

I have been a client for many years and recently my son has got into the fish keeping hobby. and so we went to get some fish. He saw a fish he liked and asked what fish it was and was told it is a Siamese algae eater. and loved it but it grew to be aggressive and kill the other fish. it turned out it was a Chinese algae eater and is known to be aggressive. I was sold a fish that is aggressive but I was told by the employee that it is a peaceful fish

I love this place , I usually used to come here and look around before the pandemic and the employees were so friendly towards me , I actually wanted to work there a few years ago but they told me I could at 16 years old so I hope I could actually get a job at that wonderful place after my birthday this year

I bought a peanut feeder last month. I phoned to say I would be returning it. I only go to Midrand from Bryanstononce a month. When I took the feeder to pay for it I said only one perch? Yes said the person at the counter. On arriving home I examined it more carefully. One perch was broken off and missing. The other one was hanging on by a thread. I returned it today and got a full refund. It should not have been on the shelf for sale as it was broken. Irritating.

We have been a client of yours for many years. But for the last year we have noticed that the client service has repeatedly declined.The gentleman that works as the cashier and client service has a very bad attitude. He is short with clients. As soon as you walk in you get the feel that he does not want to be there or that he does not want to assist you. Today (2nd of January 2021) we went to buy fish. There was 1 client in front of us and we waited passionately. 3 more client walked in as we where waiting. No one was great. He then started to help the last people that entered after we have been waiting about 15 min. We walked out and drove to Dorrys in centurion.His rude demeanor is causing you, your regulars.

Good selection of reptiles, fish and rabbits. Well stocked with most pet essentials and prices are reasonable.Staff are always friendly, helpful and quite knowledgeable about the animals.Location is through the nursery entrance and is open till 5PM on weekends, which makes it very convenient.

They have bird boarding and I left my African grey for 5 days. They even offered me a cage to keep him because our cage is too big. They definitely looked after him. Will recommend them for future.

Good products at a great price

In terms of hamsters, there is clearly a lack on knowledge. Where they may have some good shelf-items among the dangerous stuff, the housing of too many hamsters together in small enclosures with little adequate nesting rooms (how difficult can it be to throw in a few little cardboard boxes and tear up some 1-ply toilet paper?), no proper running wheels (one undersized dangerous style wheel in with like 6 Syrian hamsters to fight over), etc. is disturbing. At least the enclosures were clean, but one only hopes that theyve correctly determined the genders or someone is going to go home with a pregnant female. And lets hope they know to advise customers that the species we get in SA are all solitary and territorial once they reach adulthood and should therefore not be housed as pairs. I would take any hamster advice from this place with a pinch of salt. Lets hope they do some proper research REALLY SOON into the animals that they stock! Unfortunately, the staff are unwilling to pass on the owners details for discussion.

So our daughter just turned 9 on the 15th October 2019.She asked that we buy her a fish and we looked on the internet and we saw that there is a pet store All about animals close to us,we drove there the 1st time and we were educated about not only fishes but all the other animals 😁, then we took our kids there a few days later and the kids loved the place and Mbali 😁, we still did not purchase anything... Then yesterday I went alone to finally go get the fish we have been wanting for her and I must say Mbali your service is phenomenal its a 5star service indeed. Thank you so so much to the guys that were there also... You guys are amazing. I will definitely recommend you to my friends and family. 😁😁😁

Think they should consider a name change to sometimes about animals as they are not all about animals . I arrived at 7.55am Saturday morning to be there exactly when the shop opens as I have a sick fish due to my heater breaking over night I urgently needes a new heater At 8.05 door was slightly open with a staff. Member inside walking around I saw the note they had stuck in the door now stating shop hours were 9am to 5pm Saturday. I desperately tried to get the lady to help me as this was an emergency but she just said they closed. Really dont think thats the right attitude to have if u all about animals because clearly u not. Previously I tried calling a whole day and the phone was never answered so I was forced to go in just to find out if they had a certain type of thermometer which they didnt but the shop wasnt the cleanest with dead fish and in the back room there was a rat running around obviously not part of the pets they sell. Very disappointing experience more than once, will never go back or recommend

Medium sized speciality shop with a large variety of small & large animal needs. Had chicken feed in addition to more exotic things like seed mix for parrots. They kept catmint, which is rare, but only coarsely ground, not finely. I had to powder it myself using a coffee grinder.I noticed an aquarium section which will be of interest to people who are fish lovers (not for me, my cat looks upon them as a dietary supplement).The store seemed somewhat light on the livestock side.Animals were kept in a hygienic condition, and there seemed to be sufficient space for each one.The service was good, but I feel that I got overcharged on the catmint. Rarity of an item should not be a reason to crank the price up to 11.
