Very happy with the veg briyani! Will definitely be coming back for it! Thank you for good food. The Jameson tots I had while waiting for my food was reasonably priced! ;-)
Pathetic service! I ordered take away and when I went to get the package it was leaking, I told them to check the leakage. They took the package inside changed the plastic and gave me the same thing. By the time I got home, the leak spread to the other food and it was all messed up. Not sure what kind of service they are running๐คฎ
Horrible service. Take away was worse! Everything poured out of the box and mixed up. Poor experience with this so called restaurant!
No value for customer. People handling the restaurant kindly take tuitions on how to provide customer centric services!
Good indian food, decent prices
Amazing place. Neat n tidy. Great food n ambience.
Nice & good taste of Indian food
Worth trying their mini breakfast. Good service. Tasty food. Reasonably priced.
Been there recently for take away Indian food, it was delicious and quality food served. During Weekdays restro location is too quite and dark place!
Horrible experience ever! Service was poor! Didnโt even get to eat because a chai took half an hour to arrive when there were only two people in the restaurant, no go for me! Places with kind of service and attitude should not be operating
Uncooked lamb biryani. Very inconsistent and they always do this !!!
I love the Vegetable Biryani and especially the Curry provided with it.
The worst lamb Biryani I ever had in my life.If you want to invite Ulcers, Gastritis, liver and pancreas issues then definitely eat Biryani at Akshay Patra, Midrand. Unnecessary usage of whole spices made me sick.I ordered for Medium Lamb Biryani and they delivered ultra hot Biryani with lots of whole spices which were not even required.I generally eat hot but never mis use the spices, and if I am complaining then a normal person will be hospitalised after eating that Biryani.Thats not how you make Biryani.
Its good food and delicious.
Authentic is the only word to describe it. My evening was charmed with warm Indian lyrics taking me back to the 90s followed by excellent customer service and topped with delicious Indian cuisine.. Will definitely be back for More... ๐คค
Lovely special chicken biryani and chicken kothu parrota...
Intolerable and poor service
Came here the 3rd time around solely for the butter chicken. However I am disappointed in that the service is quiet poor from the previous times. Also the butter chicken I ordered was a tad spicy and the overall experience was not the best. Also the wait was longer.
Authentic tasty Hyderabadi food
Delicious food and sitting together with family and enjoy the awesome food
Akshaya Patra, is located at the old Nagiahs centre, and serves traditional Indian food, as well as a few local favourites such as bunny chows. Service is good and fast and the food was nice. Free open parking in the centre.
Have been ordering your Biryani regularly as the flavour profile is nicer compared to other similar establishments in the area. However, the portion size and presentation is very disappointing. The half egg on the top is more of an after thought and more of a garnish and combined with no potato at all makes it very unsubstantial. Also the chicken pieces are so tiny and very little off. For a R 100 you need to offer more value for money. The Biryani would have gotten five stars but because it lacks in so many areas gets three stars and that is me being generous. I trust you will take my concerns to heart.
Delicious food! Never disappoints! So glad theyre on Mr D.
Been here a few times, but the service at the restaurant and food quality has dropped. The waitress did not know the menu, followed by a manager slandering her for incompetence whilst there were patrons in the restaurant.Food quality was average, meals were not authentic and the dishes were served at room temp which means it was standing for a while!!
Authentice taste of indian diahes. Waiting time is more bot its worth wrt taste.Ambience is nice
Wonderful meal. Service excellent. Open on a Sunday evening. Huge menu. Dishes spiced to your liking.
Ordered mild curry and got the most spiciest curry you could ever find . Had to discard the stuff after eating two spoons of the curry . People be careful when you are ordering here as it might cause a serious issue with the spice level not to mention the hole in the pocket. Please stop with adding of more food colors in to your dishes.
The service was terrible. We had to wait approx. 20 min for them to clear the table before we can sit down. Then another 40 min for the food to arrive at our table. They took our orders 3 times as they didnt know what was happing in their kitchen. Food was tasty.
Not sure about this place. The first 2 times we had really great prawn masala here. The next 2 times the same curry was really average. And often their tandoori oven is off & theres no naan. For a restaurant, consistently is the primary consideration, and they seem to be missing this.
Nice place to have weekend south indian cuisine breakfast!
Its an Indian restaurant & really nice taste of food I tasted here
Good Indian food biryani naans and curries are very good
Good Indian restaurant. popular among Indians in north joburg.too crowded during weekends and busy hours. doesnt have dedicated restroom. only common shopping centre rest room available.
Food was amazing and extremely welcoming staff. I will definitely be going back.
As the name suggest,it will surely give you a feel of Indian style spicy and delicious treat of what you pay.I would recommend for those of this kind.
Have been here multiple times, quality of food is good, but flavors are a hit or miss. Food is delicious on certain occasions and flat on others. Needs more consistency.
Had an amazing briyani first time trying โค
Very good food (really good). Clean and safe. Excellent service.
Reasonably priced..an ok ambience. Better for take aways.
Awesome food .good options for delivery to various party gatherings as well
For me first appearances of a restaurant is important...food is fine but appearances need some.attention.
Food is nice and exactly indianEspecially biryanis over weekendNo Ambiance
Food was good, however the service was a little slow and can be improved.
Probably the best place in Johannesburg to have a vegetable biryani. Reasonably tasty south indian breakfast on weekends although it is only from 9 to 11.30.We visit frequently, at least twice a month. Dal Makhni, paneer dishes, dal fry - we tried almost all the vegetarian dishes. A++ taste except one or two times in a year which is normal for any restaurant.
We bought Tikka chicken masala on Saturday. The food tasted good. But I found a a fly in the food. Absolutely disgusting. Will not be buying from here any longer
Only certain items are good such as Biryani , Gobhi 65 etc. but service is damn poor . They have no learnt anything called customer care and customer service . All waiters are busy (India and Local) in gossiping and speed of delivery real bad.On top consistency seem to be big challenge , every time we get a different taste for same food item which is a big let down.If services improves, this can be a good India restaurant in Johannesburg.
Higenic food good maintenance obedient serve
Nice food.. Especially biryani is superb and i feel like had in India. Tasty food.
Good indian food...however need more variety...at times all the gravy tastes same
Good Indian food and quite a decent variety of dishes on the menu. Definitely try their Chicken Dum Biryani and Weekend South Indian Breakfasts.
Good place to have indian and south indian food
Good food. Biryanis are very good. Juice and othe drink are gokd. Only problem is thag it dont have washroom
So so nice but I hope the dishes to make big
Food is ok ok..timepass sort of. Not that much tasty.
Best Hyderabad dum Biryani. Especially the boneless BIRYANI is awesome
Good one for midrand and near to Vodacom
I ordered via Uber Eats and after an hour and a half had to eventually collect my order. The restaurant took no accountability as it was done via uber eats. Even though the restaurant is SUPPOSED to be able to cancel the order for me to collect it... (This is according to Uber eats). An HOUR AND A HALF!!!!!!!!
Good service but not tasty
A tired looking restaurants with grumpy staff, manger doesnt care no respect for diversity bringing in their mentality from the place were they originated, was there with a friend and just couldnt help but noticed that they denied food service to a local Muslim family , their waiter just told them the breakfast is finished and they have absolutely nothing in the kitchen, Hellooooo it was 12.30 in afternoon and you say to your customer there is nothing...NEVER GOING TO SUCH DIGUSTED PLACE AGAIN....
Nice but too small next to Roman pizza at Calswarld
Food is ok, tandoori chicken is good , but take too much time in getting the food. U may run out of patience if u r too hungry.
Quality indian food at great price
The rain called for great Indian food. With Thava gone, we googled and opted to try Akshaya Patra. Well priced and good food !!!!! The centre management definately need to upgrade the centre and it is in need of maintenance. We will go there again.
Excellent curries at the right price
One of the best South Indian restaurants that you can find in South Africa
Nice indian food available
Good place for authentic Indian food. Enjoy your food here.
Nice food as always
If you like indian food, this is the olace you cant afford to miss.
The food is OK. The wait for the delivery of the order is very long and the space to wait is not appealing. Try call ahead to place your order for take aways.
I had the paneer Tikka Masala, it was the best i ever had before.
The best restaurant for Indian cuisine. Must try chicken 65 and dum biryani
Nice layout. Food quality can improve
Complete rip off. I ordered the Lamb Rogan Josh. Its almost half the portion size you would expect and the meat quality is poor, its mostly fat and bone. There was barely anything that could be eaten. The food taste is no different than what you get at a place like Ghazal, Thava, or 99% of Indian restaurants in Johannesburg so not sure whats the fuss about it. Last time I checked, egg noodles or chicken fried rice isnt associated with authentic Indian cuisine.
Authentic north/south Indian food, flavors are original makes it only restaurant in Johannesburg who sticks to its roots!
Akshaya Patra is a very popular Indian restaurant in Midrand area and offers nice food. I went there first time and met so many of my friends came to takeaway food on a Friday evening. Thought I was a dine in customer but they gave me naan as a takeaway package which made the naans not worthy of my money. I dont know why waiter brought it like that when we are eating at the restaurant. The panner curry was ok too but most probably I will never visit the restaurant again. I heard people love this place for its chicken and other kinds of biryani. Thanks
Good food...better ambience..
Good place to have Indian food
Great customer service and good food.
Its a good restaurant for authentic Indian dishes with nice ambiance.๐
Tasteless Biryani. Hyderabadi Chicken Dum Biryani was almost plain non spicy rice with some chicken meat. Chicken was also not fully cooked.Went twice but disappointed both the times.
Awesome south indian cuisine!
I love this place because they serve very delicious indian food & good ambiance
Cz the dont take care off customer service
The place is located in a dodgy looking area and the restaurant itself is not really upmarket, they have us a drinks menu but I cant order a cocktail coz the barman was not around which was really strange but the food was lovely.
Fantastic taste of the food. Definitely you will love it.
Food quality is very good. Typical Punjabi taste. Biryani, chicken chilli dry and anda bhurjii are awesome
The place serves Indian food..I liked sun buffet..It was nice and is reasonably priced
Nice authentic Indian food, biryani is nice here
Very good Indian restaurant for dining any time
Authentic Indian food and super helpful owner.
Nice place to eat biryani and curries are super
Been to Akshaya Patra multiple times and every time i visited, felt like i should come back to this place. Quality and delicious Indian food. Great tandoori starters, pleasant ambience, yummy chicken biryani, delicious South Indian breakfasts and reasonable prices. I can say Akshaya Patra is one of the best Indian restaurants in South Africa that i have visited so far. I would definitely recommend going to Akshaya Patra who loves Indian food.
Being South Indian, I can verify the authenticity of the food. It was like being at my moms or aunts house for dinner! The appetizers have huge portions; we ordered the Chicken 65, fish tikka and fried chicken appetizers and we were pretty full even before the main courses. Amazing food. The Biryani was great (large portion), as was the masala dosa. Will definitely be coming back. The place was packed because of the quality of the food.
Its ok now that gr8
