Staff very friendly, guide is passionate and informative. Nice little play area and jumping castle for the kids to play on. My son enjoyed the tour in the mine please note the gemstones are real but its a make shift mine and not an authentic mine tour. Still lots of fun for the feel when learning about the gemstones.

A WOW experience. Staff is very friendly, patient and knowledgeable. They are truly serving, assisting and helping their clients on a service level far above the norm in South Africa. Tour is also very interesting and the guide have a true and genuine love and passion for what he is doing. Beatifull gemstone jewellery. As a Gemstone collector I really enjoyed the day out at Gecko and to see people who truly live and love ther passion. Food was also excellent.

Interesting for the kids. There is a “simulated” mine, which takes you underground. There are various displays in the mine showing typical rock formations. The scratch patch is a hit for kids. They can choose a small bag full of precious stones at their leisure.Worth a visit.

A very fun idea for a family outing. The tour is informative and well done. There is a restaurant on site that is quite expensive but has a good variety of food. The actual show room is exciting and has jewelry at a reasonable price.

Lots of gems and semiprecious stones tumbled and polished in different shapes spent time in the scratch patch and kids loved it its amazing to see what comes out from beneath the African soil !! So cool I started tumbling stones with a tiny two pound tumbler ,this place has all sorts of rough rocks to purchase for your tumblers too !!

A nice family outing with young children, the scratch patch is very big, kept them busy for a while. The jeweler has some impressive pieces and I liked the sectioned layout of the shop showcasing each gemstone type. The cafe is ok an also liked the variety of garden stones available.

The real thing is far less impressive than the marketing hype. Do not expect to descend a real mine shaft and the gems and jewellery in the shop are significantly over - priced. The only saving grace is the retired real - life miner who conducts the tour. His immense mining knowledge, acquired from decades of working on the mines, makes the whole experience worth the while.

Went for a family outing and loved being around the scratch patch. I will go there again. The only let down was that the staff arent really educated on the stones and cant really advice on the energy of the stones and cant tell you what stone you holding when you ask. They have to google what each stone is, so one is not really sure that you getting the correct info from them. I would Suggest putting up a info board by the scratch patch so people can compare the colours and what each one is for xx Blessings

The jewellery shop is excellent from a price and quality perspective. For semi precious stones they are incomparably good.

Review №32

Very disappointed as the mine and its 2 chambers are simulated (man made/ not real) which the website should state. We also toured with an Afrikaans family and the tour guide David kept speaking Afrikaans which means we missed most of what he said as we are English speaking. Yes the tour is a minimul cost of R60 which I feel was not worth the tour itself however you do get a packet of gemstones at the end so really if the R60 is to buy you those stones then so be it! Also felt that the tour ending by being taken around in the jewellery shop itself is a marketing strategy when we wanted to opt out of this part the tour guide said at the end we would get the packet of stones so had to tag along the entire jewellery store while he marketed the pieces. Note: we came for a mine tour not jewellery store tour! The tour is great for kids I think and theres a scratch patch which I am certain little kids would love. I rather enjoyed the different stones displayed outside and around the venue itself. More can certainly be done at this beautiful venue!
