This is the place I go to in Johannesburg when I want to have fish or seafood. Aside from the dishes being good and straightforward, the servers are very attentive. First restaurant I went to in SA that actually has decanters ready when I asked for one. Indeed one of my very few favourites to dine in in Johannesburg. Did I mention the clean white table cloth? 😉

Id forgotten about this gem. Happy to report the service is still on par and the food was great. We all had various fish meals and squidheads. Not the cheapest fish restaurant, but worth it when you know the food is good

Met friends for an overdue lunch. A pleasant experience the staff took good care of us. My meal on the day, Coconut and Peanut Chicken breast with a none dairy sweet chilli sauce, its a must. The sides, creamy spinach and butternut, so good.

Perfect place for a special occasion for seafood lovers. Some of the best seafood I’ve ever had! My husband and I had the oysters which were so fresh and the King’s platter for main. The Kings platter was everything! We were given all the sides with the platter; the food was too much for us to finish though. I loved the bread and sauce that was served. Great staff, great service and great location.

Really amazing food. Could not have asked for a better seafood experience. The staff is super friendly. The owner himself is involved in the day to day and gave service in-person. The food was slightly on the pricier side but well worth the the taste and quality.

Great service and great food. They are consistent with their food presentation and taste. I say this because I went there again only 5 days later and ordered the same thing. I recommend the the salmon tartare, its refreshing and not heavy on the tummy.

Always such a special place 💝 Perfectly prepared fish, tasty and generous portions with piping hot crispy and fluffy fries. Waiters are the best in town, friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. I love the atmosphere, especially sitting outside under the stars.

The atmosphere was refreshing. The food and presentation was well displayed. The waiter very friendly and always coming to ask if we ok and need anything.

The food was absolutely Devine. I will definitely be back here. The prego roll was to die for. Fish was fresh. My wifes seafood pasta was delicious. The sushi was just as wonderful. Its a little pricey but with every cent.

Not your normal Fishmonger, this one is above the rest in food,style, decor and service. Great place for a large group, even on a busy Friday night. We booked the event room for 30 people. The service was excellent and the food is o point. Everybody raved about the prawns and my battered hake was the best I had in a while. Will be back

Lovely set up and good range of products

Three main dishes ordered and three main dishes of perfection arrived! Perfectly cooked prawns, a delicious kingklip curry but the star of the show: grilled baby kingklip. This was aside from the grilled calamari and sushi starter and final cups of coffee after a malva ice cream pudding... Plate-licking good food!

Professional staff providing great service and excellent food.

Although the service at the restaurant was not bad, the quality of the food was most certainly not up to standard. Paid R500 for 6 langoustines. The size of the langoustines were just longer than an iPhone (14cm). Very disappointing!

Went there for my birthday celebration.Ordered Prawn and Avo medley for starters. It was delicious. Prawns were very fresh. I love prawns and i love Avos. Never knew the combo would be even better!For the main course, we ordered the Kingclip and the Falkland Trio.The Falkland Trio was ok. Just fried Calamaris and heads. Quantity was very generous though!The Kingclip - it was by far the BEST fish preparation i have had in South Africa! Was just toooooo sumptuous and finger licking good. I wanted to kiss the chefs hands but its COVID times, so... :pLoved the ambiance of the place and the service as well. Since it was my birthday celebrations, they presented a super yummy slice of cake at the end.Given an opportunity, would love to visit this restaurant again and try out different things in their menu.

This is our second time eating here. The fish was fresh and tasted great, and I had the calamari which was a generous portion. Overall, nice ambiance and good service. Both times weve been there, the restaurant has been quite full but theyve made a plan to seat us. Id recommend giving it a go for seafood.

This is an amazing restaurant. Probably the best seafood (fish) in Jhb. The staff is always very friendly and helpful.The booking process is easy, and the restaurant responded timeously to my online booking.I had the seabass special (grilled on an open fire, with some lemon juice) and it was one of the best fish meals Ive ever had. I really like how the fish comes without sauce, so you get the real fish flavour.I can highly recommend this for an amazing seafoody night out.

Always a winner. Prawns, oysters, calamari, and squid heads were amazingly fresh. Sushi was a bit disappointing, but still good.

Pedros original Fishmonger should be the only Fishmonger on your list. Wonderful atmosphere and fantastic service from the Friendly waiters. This was the first Fishmonger and has stood the test of time, you can see this in the experience of their managing staff

My favorite restaurant in Johannesburg. Started coming here 11 years agoFishmongersWe travel from the USA to Johannesburg FOR THIS RESTAURANT. We go every 2-3 yrs and we dream about it in between. Here’s why:- [ ] The food is always superb. They never have an off day, ever. Nowhere does fish melt in your mouth as it does here. The food is always fresh and cooked to perfection.- [ ] This is a white cloth restaurant. The staff are at your beckon call when you need them. They clear the table after every course and are extremely professional.- [ ] The staff is very knowledgeable. They know their stuff and can recommend dishes and wine pairings.- [ ] We don’t personally know the staff but I will bet they are treated well. Why? We have been coming here for yrs and you tend to see the same people over and over again. And they greet you as regulars!- [ ] We travel with children - 5 of them. They are all 10 and under. This is not easy but despite being a white cloth, fancy restaurant, they do accommodate children. In fact, they have a decent kids menu and they offer “lucky packets” for each child. Lucky packets have little surprise toys and treats inside.- [ ] Children’s meals are awesome. You know how at some restaurant, the children’s food is horrible? Not here! Firsts, it’s huge. They seem big enough for adults. Second, it’s delicious.- [ ] This is an Upscale restaurant priced for regular folks. If you are a foreigner traveling to South Africa, this will easily be in your price range. You will feel like you should be charged more.- [ ] We spend our whole meal “oohing” and “aahing.” We are the kind of family who try each other’s foods, so the whole meal goes like that. And it doesn’t end with the main course either. The desserts are awesome too. They have double cream ice cream. Who does that!

Very expensive ! Very expensive ! Prices are astronomically high . One can get Fish elsewhere for a third of the price . Ridiculously expensive! - management please understand u caught me like u catch a fish from the water .. - But never ever again . Today you won ! But long Term your going to be a Loser !

Had a wonderful Sat lunch in the warm winter sunshine. The staff could not have been more attentive and clearly delighted to have customers. They are doing brilliantly to be upbeat and happy during Covid challenges and they will get the support for their excellent food and people.They deseves 10/5 stars.

Everything was fresh and delicious, I think it is the best seafood restaurant in the area and you get free bread upon ordering and depending on how many people and the bread is very fresh !!Even better , we complained that the portion was too small , but the manager was kind enough to give us extra and gave the meal for free !! Pity no std sauces with their seafood that should come with meal. They need a proper Mozambique chilli sauce tho!!! Fantastic decor plush lovely. Staff excellent & friendly. Good safe parking in the centre.

I have been visiting this establishment and others of this franchise in varying locations for 10+ years and I have to say this location is my favourite!The staff are always accommodating, helpful, well versed and friendly. The service is quick and under the attentive care of management, you are guaranteed a pleasant experience.The menu caters not only to fish lovers but also those who enjoy other Portuguese dishes. They even cater to us sushi lovers offering a varied and interesting selection of rolls.Although I myself am not a wine drinker, many times I have dined with people who are, and each time the staff are able to cater to these patrons palettes. They also offer a few staple cocktails and serve all things at a reasonable price.The atmosphere is very homely and a great way to spend time with family. Often times the restaurant is busy but it is reminiscent of the bay-side shops in Europe that are always alight with the buzz of people. The mural in the enclosed seating area depicts a very authentic scene of fisherman bustling to cater to their customers and the staff at this establishment seem to follow in their example.

Pedros is the real deal. Arguably one of the best eateries in South Africa. Exceptional service and exceptional quality cuisine, with Pedro on hand to guide you expertly. Every dish has the potential to be your favorite; my personal indulgence is the Portuguese Steak. I am confident this is the best Portuguese Steak youll ever have the good fortune to experience.

Excellent food quality and the staff are professional and knowledgeable about the fare on offer, which is a welcome change from many other Johannesburg restaurants. Make no mistake though, the prices are a little more than other seafood restaurants although this is money well spent.
