Wonderful time out, not too far to drive, lots of rest and fun.

The place has beautiful scenery, the staff are friendly and the welcome snacks were amazing! However lunch and dessert were a bit of a let down - the yellow rice was bland and buttery, the carrots were raw and the cheese cake was not cheese cake. However apart from that our time at the facility was well spent.

We made a booking using Hotels.com. Booking confirmation was received. Drove 50 kms with excited kids eager to visit the place and try out Carnivore. On check-in guess what, the hotel cant find the booking. OK granted there could have been a technical glitch (highly unlikely) but what I found extremely disappointing is that the hotel didnt even attempt to make up for the error or accommodate us for the next weekend. The staff were just disinterested. Poor form Misty Hills. Poor form.

This place is fantastic. Great staff. Great food and a quick getaway in Muldersdrift.

Misty hills is a refreshing escape from the city. We used their conference facilities, ate at Carnivore and stayed over. They have very friendly staff who tend to all your needs. The lunch we had during the conference was amazing. The walk from the conference room until the hotel reception was confusing. There are a couple of boards missing which made our walk around long but scenic. The rooms were extremely clean with all basic amenities.

The venue was appealing. Quiet. The Gin Box served a decent burger. Tasty and good in size. The staff are friendly. The Gin Box waitress was extremely slow with very poor listening skills. It was not that busy, however sadly poor service.

Me and my Fiance had an amazing stay at Misty Hills. The accommodation is top notch and i would give it 5 stars.However, service for the breakfast that is included was horrendous. We waited 20min just to get a waiter. Another 20min for our coffee to arrive. The food was good but the service was so bad that i would give the breakfast Restaurant a one star.

Was the worst spa experience ever....upon arival we were told to sit in a unkept garden and the Champagne 🍾 I asked for was never served, the picnic lunch we ordered was not available and we had to remind the receptionist that we were there in order for us to do the paperwork and have our treatments. Even that was rushed....it really was a disappointing experience 😔

Due to Covid this lodge is struggling. Staff is still motivated and offer good service but the lodge is poorly maintained and very quiet.We didn’t have water for a few hours in the morning.Carnivores is still nice.Definitely not a 4 star rating

Enjoyed the atmosphere and Xmas decor. Friendly and attentive staff. Children were adequately catered for. The venue is peaceful and beautiful. Free, safe parking is a bonus. Christmas menu at the Boma sounded delightful but food left us disappointed. Much better food at their Carnivores restaurant

This is an enormous Country Hotel, with lots of outside rooms, forest like paths between the rooms and restaurants. Friendly staff to guide you should you get lost. The food is very good and you have some good restaurants (Carnivore and Cafe). Drinks at the restaurant very expensive (bottle of wine between R500 to R600) The Spa was not very good, as i felt that i was getting oil rubbed rather than massaged. It felt like a rushed oil rub.

The venue is clean, staff are friendly and always willing to help in any way, the rooms are spacious and has an aircon, but parking is very far from the rooms

Beautiful place, there for a wedding morning after breakfast. Breakfast buffet was very average, but as expected in these times.

Room and Valentines picnic was great but the service at breakfast was terrible. We waited for 35 mins for someone to take our order. Waiter and manager were both rude and when we wanted to leave manager said let them leave like our patronage did not matter to them. Would recommend the rooms but get breakfast somewhere else.

The therapists at the spa and most definitely not qualified and have no idea how to give a massage. I was more irritated than relaxed. Why should I pay full price for no experience or qualifications? Nobody at reception to greet us - we had to call for help. Therapist made me feel very uncomfortable.In general, the hotel is shoddy and rundown and the pictures are false advertising. Rake up dead leaves and maintain the gardens and fix all your ponds. The water looks like a health hazard and a mosquito haven! I dont think that water has been moved or cleaned in months!The outdoor areas were honestly cringe worthy! We had spiders and spider webs all over our outdoor shower section - it has been sprayed down or cleaned in MONTHS!Play some music to create an ambiance. It felt like a deserted and abandoned hotel.We booked a romantic table for 2 at Carnivore, but they gave our table to someone else so we had a used 4 seater without cutlery. 2 out the 3 wine choices were out of stock.In general all staff were clearly not trained or had no idea of service/hospitality.What was supposed to be a romantic getaway turned into massive regret of the wasted money spent here.Oh! And we were almost double charged for everything at check out. Nobody seems to know what is going on.Very disappointed.

The stay was ok in terms of the location and privacy. The room we stayed in was fine in terms of cleanliness, however there are no phones to call for room service, one had to use their phone , which at times did not go through.The services could also be improved...We requested champagne glasses upon arrival and we didnt get them even after requesting them several times. We also requested an iron (also several times) and they eventually brought it, but it was not working. We had to go to breakfast on crinkled clothes.The breakfast from Summerhouse did not have variety in terms of the food. The food they served was blend.The Gin bar service was very disappointing. There were no waiters to receive us upon arrival. We waited for 30 minutes to be served (This is just for drinks), and we had to go inside and demand service. Eventually there was a waitress who came to serve us, but also disappeared after serving us the food...The pool area is very clean, but I do think that they should have services in terms of someone serving soft drinks or alcoholic beverages. We were told that we need to go to the restuarant to order, which is quite a long walk.We had dinner at Carnivore and the experience was excellent. From making reservations. Welcome Zondi pulled all the strings to make sure that we had the best time. Our waitress name was Cindy, very efficient and friendly. The service was excellent, our table was always filled with beverages. We also got a bottle of sparkling wine on the house. I have never eaten so much meat in my life. The experience was AMAZING.Andrè the head of Risk and Security was very helpful. From offloading our luggage and making sure that we had everything we need.Overall the place is very nice and there is privacy, however the services really needs to be improved.

Amazing, amazing feels like paradise in Gauteng. Couldnt believe it. The massage ladies are top notch, the pool is cold but it was blazing hot, makes sense😂

Not impressed. My husband and I often take drives out of Johannesburg visiting different hotels, lodges and wedding venues for lunch. We never need to book or notify a lodge that we are coming through for lunch. We go where the road takes us and if we see a nice place we stop there for lunch. Everyone always happy to allow us in. But not Misty Hills. The security at the gate refused to let us into the premises to have lunch at the restaurant. Wouldnt even contact reception to arrange anything. One way to chase away future customers. Thanks Misty Hills.

The indigenous garden is spectacular!

If you have not been to Misty Hills ...you havent started living. This is the best place to be for your cool off after Level 5 to 2. You must absolutely visit the Carnivore restaurant while you are on your cool off date with Misty Hills

We had a conference for 3 days. The food was very bad. The staff seemed so unhappy to be there. Breakfast was a disaster leaving a lot of people not getting their food or waiting more than 30 min just to take their order. This is a management problem. I will not recommend this place to anyone.

Lovely out of town hotel yet less than 15 minutes drive from major metropolitan areas. Tranquil and relaxed ambiance. Spacious rooms with comfortable beds. Good for conferencing as well as a getaway venue for rejuvenating.Restaurants on site are great and breakfast is great

Beautiful scenery, a forest in the middle of the city. Big spa guest room. Prepare to walk far but they do have golf carts transporting from one point to the next. Game walking around is a nice touch to the country atmosphere. Only complaint is geyser was not switched on in the Signature Room but they assisted immediately

Spent a night. Its ok but tired looking. The room (executive suite) was very spacious, all necessary amenities. Not sure about the decor though, the sofas in the room look more dated than antique. The decor overall is a bit confused between rustic, tannie style, voortrekkers vibes and African too.Breakfast was just that, not really memorable.The spa is way over priced for the unskilled service you get, from the first touch you know the ladies have not been adequately trained at all, plus the room was cold so was hard to relax. But they were really pleasant and nice. The picnic basket we ordered at the spa was also lovely and filling.The waiters at Carnivore were nice, but we waited almost 30 mins to even get attention. Would be nice if they also tell patrons how their system works, its not clear to first timers. Basically you dont order from a menu, they automaticaly bring bread starters, then it was pumpkin soup, then they bring salads and condiments (same for everyone) and then various meats just keep coming and you say if you want that cut of meat or not as the servers go around. I do wish owners could respect staff enough to train them properly for the job.But it was nice to get some fresh air.

From the moment we arrived at the main gate we received great service, from the security guards to the ground staff to the people at the reception, everyone was so friendly and helpful. A lovely place to get away from the noise and hectic pace of Johannesburg. Depending on where you are coming from it is around a 30 - 40 minute drive. It is nice and secluded and really gives you that feeling of being away from the hustle and bustle of the city while still being in the city. One of my favourite things about Misty Hills was the artifacts and art they had hanging, from 17th century Japanese samurai warrior armour to wooden African fertility carvings and a statue of Dr David Livingstone, it is all quite interesting. The staff and the service are brilliant, I did not have a single issue to deal with. The best part is undoubtedly Carnivore restaurant which is heaven for any and all meat eaters. The selection and the variety are so wide, you wouldnt be able to try everything even if you tried. Carnivore gets a 10/10 from me but Misty Hills is a really lovely getaway within the city which Id definitely recommend.

From the beginning stages of booking the staff went out of their way to be accommodating. We stayed for one night, and we had hoped to do a picnic on the beautiful grounds after checking out the next day, but the rain was showing no signs of breaking, so the staff at reception made arrangements for us to check out late and have our picnic in our room by the fire, which was fantastic - the food was wonderful too. The room itself was incredible (classic executive suite), the bed and pillows were so comfortable and the bathroom was great, and the massage we got at the beautiful spa was fantastic - next time we plan to do a package so we can spend more time in the complex. The surroundings and finishes make you feel like youre living in a dream. We were only there for a night but it felt like a relaxing week.

Good venue for large groups like work functions with accommodation for 100 plus and large meeting halls. Accommodation is pleasant and grouped into different villages which are spread over a large area. Food was enjoyable. Sound and audio in the large venues was professionally done. Also has a great pool area and kids play castle. Has a large field for team building exercises.

Beautiful place and the rooms are spacious. Personally not a fan of thatched roofing and prefer modern type room but that doesnt take anything away from the place. The staff is friendly and always willing to help. The food was delicious and there was a wide variety to choose from. Overall a lovely place and if you are looking for tranquility, this is the place to go.

Staying here was lovely... Its incredibly beautiful with lots of ivy ponds and waterfalls. The food is fantastic and theres also a bar. Theres a lot to do and you can go for dinner at Carnivore, the experience there is great. The rooms are spacious and theres a pillow menu to make sure youre super comfy! Honestly I would live here permanently if I could!

Very good layout with loads of accommodation. Staff are friendly and very accommodating. Food is lovely. The Carnivore dinner buffet is an amazing experience of game flavors. This venue is more for the outdoorsy type as most rooms have thatch roofs with no ceilings as well as loads of trees all around. Overall, a lovely stay. Be sure to try the Carnivore dinner buffet!

Its a good place for team building, workshops, seminars, vacations etc. Its tucked away from the city areas. Its very big & you can take walks as its very nature conscience. The restaurants serve interesting food especially the carnivore where they serve crocodile meat, kudu etc.
