My stay with my wife and daughter was fantastic. Much more like home

It supposed to be a great Valentine’s Day lunch... it was a huge disappointment. We paid in advance for 3 course meal and there supposed to be live entertainment included in the price, but it wasn’t. No apology no explanation. Table was not prepared in time. Waiters were careless and not supervised. Food was bad, steak dry and obviously prepared in advance and just warmed up. Food was served in hurry without breaks. Water was served warm without ice or lemon. Bread was put on the table with melted butter after the main course. We would have better service at KFC. This is not a 5 star establishment and should be reassessed. Will not visit again and would not recommend.

This is stunning hotel and great place to have private parties. The view is breathtaking and the garden is very inviting. I love the indoor/outdoor set-up and the way all the spaces flow into one another. The decor is luxurious and classy. I like the large rooms with balconies. Beds have lovely bedding with high thread count. The food is decent and coffee is great.

When your personal circumstances change and you decide to cancel your wedding months in advance of the wedding date (*and before the national lockdown*) and still according to their contractual regulations, staff personalities do a 180 degree flip, phones get put down in your ear before you are finished speaking, emails which were instantly replied to before the cancellation, are now emails that are ignored and the process of getting hold of them becomes an absolute nightmare.They dont abide by their own contract and make false promises to keep the money (and quite a large sum) that they owe to you, for as long as possible.A venue I considered one of the most beautiful, romantic and inimate venues in the country, has now lost all its magic and started to show its true character.Be very careful to do business with them.

Beautiful supper prepared with great wine however we felt it needed a bit of an upgrade to the Presidential suite. the other suites however were stunning. The view is sublime and everyone very helpful.

The Munro Hotel has to be the best place to be around Johannesburg ! The Staff is friendly, welcoming and professional.

The Munro Boutique Hotel I visited for a launch event for one of the smartphone brands. I loved the amazing and colourful setting of the place. It had different rooms which were used to display various products but the room settings and decor is what I loved. I have not stayed at the hotel yet and not seen the actual rooms but loved the view from the top of the hill overlooking City of Johannesburg. Thanks

Very disappointed, Syringa Suit #5 with a view to a parking lot (not as advertised), the noisest room ever. A permanent toilet water leak coming not from our bathroom plus a massive fridge or generator that kept us awake all night long. Definitely not price value...

I would not even rate Munro , as I had a meeting with the events lady and she could not understand a thing that I wanted for my wedding. She was so unprofessional sitting on her phone whilst in a meeting discussing my wedding plans. She was not accommodating at all. She was more worried about the event happening then focusing on a potential client right in-front of her. She said she will send the quote the Monday as she was busy after our meeting, it is a few days later and I have not received a thing. You have just lost a potential client!

A piece of paradise in the middle of Jhb. The nicest people are the staff running the Munro , making sure u are feeling right at home. With the Magaliesberg visible in the distance, the setting up on the ridge looking over the Johannesburg forest, in one of the oldest parts of Johannesburg make this a must visit place!

Great wine and good food, the perfect place for a wine tasting

On the 18th November last year my sister celebrated her 60th Birthday and she booked the entire Munro as a private venue for this celebration. The lead up to this event and the way in which the staff handled the event was appalling. But to top all of this my iPhone 6 plus was stolen off the table on the night of the party. I used find my iPhone to establish where it was and found its location to be in Hillbrow. I contacted the Hotel numerous times in this regard and eventually they decided to put their staff through a lie detector, mostly to placate me I think. They established that it was one of their staff members that had stolen the phone, although they never communicated what the recourse would be for the said employer. Nonetheless, my phone was not retrieved. The owner agreed to compensate me for the loss of my phone but then later reneged on this agreement. The week before my phone was stolen, numerous wedding presents were stolen from a private wedding function, also by a staff member . I would avoid this establishment if you plan to keep your belongings.
