Memorable experience and a decent trip back in time. The food is good but neither cheap nor quick - but that would not be why you would go there. So enjoy feeling like a randlord while it lasts. We even had a little tour of the club after lunch, even these tours normally need to be booked ahead of time.
Amazing place.High ceilings and broad wide windows and heavy curtains.Wooden balustrades.Reminds one of days gone by, The Empire.Used the spacious and well appointed Mvela Room for the meeting.Very good and courteous staff, efficientThe meals were served on time, warm and well arranged.Definitely the place to be
A MUST visit!!! One of Jozis most fantastic gems. Ideal for celebrating anything. Turn back time and experience old world charm. You will build unforgettable memories here!!!!
Fantastic place, so much history. Love the libraries and scores of artifacts. Old bronze busts and paintings from times gone by. Snooker tables and an amazing ancient books and maps outlet as well. Great staff.Pity they were closed on a Sunday and I had to go elsewhere for food and drink!!! Unbelievable. Hence 3 stars.
Highly recommend! What a stunning place!
Go back in time in this old colonial place. Longest bar in the country. Interesting art work. Every room has history behind it, from the billiard room in the basement to the opulent dining room on one of the upper floors. Used to be members only, but rules have been relaxed for casual dining in the bar. Definately worth a visit.
Enjoyed comedy evening and restaurant offerings. Excellent service and welcoming staff.
Had high tea here over the weekend and it was amazing. The chef prepared some wonderful sandwiches and pastries for us, and then the tea was great. The service was awesome. And the location cant be beat. We were able to see some of the upper floors and the whole experience felt decadent. Highly recommend. Make sure to reserve in advance.
Still under construction 🏗 will be okay and will be a nice outing for fine dining...brilliant location 😀👍
We had an absolute amazing time and experience here. The venue is out of the world and extreamly beautiful. It feels like you have walked into the pass as soon as you set foot in the building. The food was also amazing and would highly recommend it for a wedding or function. The facilities were very clean and the staff was warm and friendly.
Impressive building, knowledgeable tour & great coffee!!
Stunning architecture and history. Delicious scones and coffee!
The Rand Club is one of Johannesburgs great landmarks. It has a rich and controversial history and remains a major attraction for the public on occasions when access is arranged. Kathy Munro, Honorary Associate Professor in the School of Architecture and Planning at Wits, visited the Club recently exploring every nook and cranny and pondering the future of this iconic institution. The Club has been reinventing itself for a number of years but tough decisions lie ahead...Johannesburg’s Rand Club is an historic city institution that survives on the original site where the first gentlemen’s club was built. It was regarded as an essential institution in the new mining town and following in the style of the Kimberley Club.
Great music and band. Location CBD joburg so a bit carefull when you drive. Was a jazz night and was great entertainment. Show Starts around 8pm. 7.30 with starter was served and main dish served around 9.30 pm followed by a dessert. Food was moderate quality. Wine prices are acceptable. The building is worthwhile to see. Be there at 7pm and walk in different floors of this historical building.
One of the most beautiful places Ive seen.
Thee most beautiful place to be
The service here is absolutely great. The food and drinks taste amazing too. Love it
What a wonderful place to have lunch or dinner at!! Food is great, service is great. Love it!!!!!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I loved this restaurant ! very good service and delicious food here!
Memorable pictures full of history
We went to the Antique Book Fair and had a full tour of the club. I felt taken back in time and experienced each rooms place in history. Im eager to sit with a book in the exclusive library. The experience is amazing... however.... the second you are a metre away from the building, your life is in CBDs hands. Your Uber driver curses you for calling him to the spot. Some secure parking would give such a great landmark a five, and I would get myself a membership card;) Come on Rand Club!
A place every South African if not international guest should vist. The architecture is just to die for. Wish I could afford membership, but happy with just being able to visit and indulge in the delights of this historic piece of our history 💕
What an amazing experience of history and food. Absolutely loved it. The biltong infused mash was stunning!
Absolutely loved this tour by the club manager Phil.We enjoyed the decadence of a bygone era whilst learning about the Randlords and early life on the witwatersrand. The library was a real treat!Food was good with a few gluten free options on the mains menu. After speaking to management Im sure they will include gluten free starters and deserts soon.Well worth a visit
6-story, 1904 venue housing a swanky private club with Africas longest bar, billiards & a library.
A slice of Jhb history right on your doorstep. Safe parking, incredible staff, Covid protocols. A must for history buffs or just an enjoyable night out.Watch their Instagram page @randclub for upcoming events.
Beautiful old historical place, love it
Beautiful place, filled with history.
Cool place for the CBD...u feel closed off from all the noise in the city. Very cool Especially in this heat. Food was also delicious.
Love the food, the service and the vibe of the building.
Great place. Great history
Good place for visiting and good hotel
Its historical charm is maintained throughout. Worth a visit for a drink and lunch .

A hisorical place in the heart of Johannesburg
Stunning venue. Sadly the service was extremely poor, yet the food was nice
Taxis. And more taxis. No parking. Area seems a bit dilapidated. Pity.Didnt order food.. so my comment, is for the state of the position. All the occasions i have been there to eat. The food and service. Has been good.
Is great place to visit
An incredible historical building in the heart of Johannesburg. Full of history, original artworks and books. Many of the rooms have recently been renovated. Lovely old bar for functions and a drink. Secure parking outside.
Stately old club bursting with history and the memorabilia to prove it. Limited parking but excellent parking help. Great staff. Excellent place.
The turnaround of the Rand Club, from teetering on the brink to secret national treasure in downtown Johannesburg is astounding! There is a book store, snooker tables, grand library, a great menu and drinks in the bar with the longest countertop in the southern hemisphere, beautiful large and snall meeting rooms, and newly revamped, modern and comfortable rooms. The new generation in charge is showing their predecessors how to regain lost glories.
Amazing old building with the original fittings. It has an amazing wide staircase that has to be seen to be believed.Members club.I love it
Beautiful and Historical property.
Very good service and delicious food.
Incredible historic building restored.
Food was a bit lacking for the price. Atmosphere was brilliant. I hope they agent a better chef
Make sure you dont come here wearing tekkies, its a fancy place with a great collection of historical editorial satire comics and art works. Perfect for weddings or just a drink at the most beautiful and apparently the longest bar in Southern Africa.Dont overlook that new wallpaper. Growl
I love everything about this place. This is a solid piece of history silently preserved in the bustling streets of inner Johannesburg. The building looks on at the younger buildings and tenants of JHB, all hustling to meet their daily quota, and laughs, wise and knowing. The building still plays host to members who pay for membership and access to the club and house. These are your affluent business men and women, as well as some members of parliament, law and medicine. The building has been and continues to be restored to its former glory, with some of the rooms being used for office space for the Rand Club employees. The venue is able to be booked for private functions as well as for production and movie houses alike to shoot. Pricing varies per subject/genre and you will need to get in touch with the official Rand Club employees for pricing. Its fantastic to see a building from another era in itself still standing and functioning today.
Good food
The building is beautiful and the people are extremely friendly. Definitely worth a visit at least once. Phone them to make an appointment or attend one of the events.
Nice place for chilling and then
I have never been here before and was surprisedTo find so much information about this countries history. Great spot that can teach you something and a beautiful venue for a fancy gala event.
Marvel to be there
Awesome venue! Perfect for weddings and functions. Its mostly well maintained and is still actively used.
Oh gosh. Worth a visit. The longest bar in Africa and brilliant food
Iconic building in the Johannesburg city centre. One can never be prepared for what the Rand Club has to offer. Do yourself a favour, pay them a visit.
Historically enchanting. I loved the place, staff hospitality and food. Special thanks to the security guards who were helping us with parking (my visit was as a guest to Old Mutual Gauteng Roadshow held at the venue).
Awesome venue, brings a touch of class to the city and any event you might want to host there. Had my bachelors event there, my guests were blown away and service was excellent.
History, history and more history add on a dollop of good food and good wine makes for a great evening, planning on comming back to stay in the hotel rooms.
Fantastic experience. Staff are really well trained, courteous, demure. Atmosphere is just amazing, like a trip back in history. I loved every minute. Food was excellent and very well priced.
Outside area SHOCKING, back-entrance DISGUSTING but once you made it through rubbish, dirt and awful smells of wasted food, urine and I wouldnt be surprised to find dead rats well the inside is MAGNIFICENT. You can literally feel the old century, even the air smells like after the old good days where it was safe to walk the streets of sunny and wild Johannesburg. Great historical building. Pity of the negligence of the surrounding areas but it could be because I used the backdoor? Not sure if this club is still running because if it is still functioning I am certainly not the person who would have entrance I guess.
