Tallest structure (tower) in Africa which is not a guyed mast or chimney. Nice to look at from far. An iconic addition to Jhbs look.

The famous Hillbrow Tower is Johannesburgs iconic structureAt 90 storeys high, it was Africas tallest tower for 40 years. It was also the tallest in the Southern Hemisphere until Mount Isa Chimney in Queensland, Australia was built in 1978.The tower was initially known as the JG Strijdom Tower, after JG Strijdom, South African PM from 1954 - 58.In 2005 it was renamed as Telkom Joburg Tower after the Telecommunications Co.
