Had a lovely dinner with superb starters. Octopus was divine! Service, although wonderful was a little too involved in the dinner. I would have liked to see more options for main course.

This place is an absolute gem! The best deserts in South Africa!From 5 stars to 1. A disaster of a breakfast. We’ve waited for nearly 1 hour (no joke) for a very mediocre food. Kid’s crumpets were hard and chewy. The table has been dirty for almost 30 minutes. Nobody cared.Very sad, as the lunch/supper side of the restaurant is brilliant...

Nice restaurant, the decor is very interesting and it creates a nice ambiance. The food was nice and there was a good variety of dishes. The waiters were top class. They were extremely friendly and helpful and they made the experience much more enjoyable.

Highly Highly Recommended.Our first visit and boy were we impressed. Great ambiance, lovely setting and decor. Good efficient and friendly staff. Aside from the set menu there are also specials that the chef mentions at the table. I was surely impressed with my baked salmon which I requested as rare and rarely do I get it as requested. Moroccan soup and cauliflower fritters for starters was a winner. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals.Yes we will definitely be back!

One of the best restaurants in JHB

Ive been wanting to go here for ages. We sat outside, no table cloth, we were asked to hurry our order, as they were expecting a busy evening. Very limited vegetarian menu, although they did try to accommodate this. I would have liked to order a dessert but felt rushed. Probably wont be back.

Good food, great service but completely overpriced.

Nice setting. Food is not bad and is well presented. Service is patchy at best. Ambiance could be better. All in all a disappointing dining experience. Considering the price of 2 for lunch crossed R600 without a tip - shame.

We always enjoy our time here. The menu changes and is everything is delicious. We bought some pates and took them on holiday. They were great.

Very quaint and warm ambiance, with delicious food! Personal touches such as the chef being the one to tell you about the special ls of the day, makes it feel like a very special place to be.

We enjoyed an absolutely delicious Sunday lunch meal. Perfectly cooked and presented dishes. One of spaghetti with salmon and the other thinly sliced sirloin with Porcini mushrooms. Highly recommended.

Really good evening out with delicious fresh Italian food. Menu is small to accommodate fresh cooking by chefs - no short cuts are taken! Two or three courses are a must to taste whats on offer. Perfectly semi formal whike remaining casual and down to earth for corporate evenings with small groups, or famiy special nights out, or a date night.

I liked the atmosphere and the passion of management, chef and waiters is unsurpassed. Very caring and making sure that everything was okay. Its a great hid out full of charm and character. The outdoors are magnificent. Not too big but very convenient for small groups or couples. Kids do have a place too. The food is great. Will visit again without a doubt.

A unique dining experience. The personal professional table service, the ambiance exceptional yet so comfortable. We were a table of five people. The food, just superb, everyone enjoyed what they ordered. The taste of my lamb fettuccine, outstanding, the seafood fettuccine also. The vegetarian also. The portions are perfect. The waiters are so professional and friendly. Not overbearing. The range of beverages is enough for any group. This owner run restuarant is excellent. However not overpriced.

Ciro’s is spectacular. Ciro himself is engaging and wonderful, and so is the whole staff. The environment is soothing and basically perfect. I’ve been eyeballing this place for almost 3 years but keep missing it due to holidays but I aM SO HAPPY I have been able to enjoy Ciro’s today. I will be back before they close for the holidays and will probably even order some take away Christmas food as the menu looks divine. Thank you Ciro’s!

Best Italian/Mediterranean dining in Johannesburg...maybe South Africa/maybe the planet. I kid you not. The specials are unbeatable. I will not go into detail about them...I will leave that up to your taste buds. Service is par excellence. This dining experience should be on everyones list of have to try. If you dont at least us people with gourmet tastes will be able to get a table.

The Duck is absolutly fabioulous BUT it is the special attention one receives from the owner that makes is very special. A definte recomendation.

Ciro owns this house converted into a restaurant. Hearty meals and cozy setup. Menu gets changed every season, but there are a few meals that are always available. Warm in winter and cool in summer. Under the tree in summer is amazing. His daughter runs the café at the back.

Such an amazing restaurant! Menu is only 2 pages long which is good. Personal touch to all dishes. So well presented, and tasted delightful. Desserts were very good. Ambience is wonderful. Loved how the chef/owner? came to each table to tell us the specials.Only reason for my 4stars, is that the waiters often did not collect the dishes after I was finished. Had to sit with my empty plate for a while before it was taken away.

Dined there with a friend for Saturday lunch. Starters were the signature dish of pate with fig and the Portuguese sardines. The sardines were well cooked if a little bland. The pate was rather dense but otherwise tasty. Mains were two of the days specials being baked salmon and roast duck in pomegranate sauce. The salmon was perfectly delicately seasoned and cooked to perfection. The duck was rather rare and thus difficult to cut into and to eat. We were looking forward to some nice crispy skin but the pomegranate sauce made the skin soggy and did not add to the taste at all. We did not manage to finish the duck. Finished off with some good coffee. On balance we felt the meal was a little overpriced for what was dished up.

With excellent food and great service it was very nice eating at La Cucina. The chef gives personalised attention to each table and the servers are unobtrusive yet helpful. Will definitely return.

The restaurant is cozy, food is delicious and well-prepared, generous portions. They cater for private functions, in a beautiful setting.

For a visitor from the US, Italian is a stretch, but in the local culture, its really a lovely themed eatery. I had a really nice fish (similar to cod) dish and friends had crispy duck. All were very satisfying. Gravlox were smoked less than Ive had in the past. Nice south African wines. All in all very nice. Very good service as well!

What a incredible and delightful experience we had on our first visit to the restaurant. From the moment we were greeted at the entrance to when we left, the service and attention to detail was superb.After looking at the menu we thought we knew what we would have that was until the owner came to the table to explain the specials.I ended up having the Mozambique prawns and the duck and my partner had the lentil soup and the rabbit ravioli.Everything was exceptional.From the wine to the incredible dishes it was a night to remember

The owner and chef (Ciro) is absolutely hands on and meets with every guest to tell them the specials for the day. Delicious food. Lovely atmosphere. My husband had the Oxtail Ragu and really enjoyed it. Make sure to make a booking!

The food is fantastic and prepared in a way that makes every meal feel specially prepared. Ciro is available to give every guest the special of the day and it adds to the personal touch of each dish/meal. The environment is cosy and perfect for intimate meals. Only issue was the waiting staff that were inattentive and not well trained, with the prices charged, the waiting service was not up to scratch.

This place is really tip top... highly recommend a visit... youre sure to want to go back. Lovely vibe, tasty food and super friendly staff - ask for Carrie and shell make sure you get everything you need. Enjoy :)

Fine Italian dining. Very pricey, especially the wine menu. Dishes are very refined yet simple. Good for a special occasion. Intimate venue, so not good for loud parties at dinner time.

Nested in between Rosebank and Parkhurst, a lovable restaurant with tasty and memorable meals.

Very chilled. The food is OK. I personally just enjoy the vibe in general.

Since my last visit I feel that this spot has improved in service and value for money. The owner Ciro visits tables and offers the daily selection. Prices are fair for the quality of food and portion sizes. Intimate, personal owner run restaurants are a dying breed, yet still offer a worthwhile experience for those that value it.

This is not a place I would recommend for interracial people it feels like is only white skin friendly . If u go out and eat in a place u wanna feel welcome . I only had a cappuccino I wouldnt eat there it felt uncomfortable.White people get a royal welcome here other races is no go

Gabriellas tea room. Beautiful beautiful place 😍😍 very accomadating and nice and intimate for our function. The service could have been slightly better. There were 2 waiters and one wasnt particularly friendly.. Food was good. Drink portions could have been bigger. But overall really happy and would go back for their Brioche cone!!! A delightful meal (pea and mint soup followed by tdender duck). Authentic Italian cuisine and service. The restaurant is situated in an old home with a little garden and limited parking in front. One is not aware of the busy road.

I had not been to this restaurant before and went there due to a rave recommendation from friends.The restaurant is in a good spot with lots of parking, the owner was a seasoned restauranteer with quick wit and good banter.Whilst I thought the food was quite good, I didnt think it met my expectations, I also felt my main course could have been a bit bigger, but overall it was a good experience and I can see why it is so popular.

Was really disappointed that they charged R265 for could not of been more than a R100 steak on valentines. Food was good. But Ill never return again. Very poor value for money.

Food here is always very well prepared with sophisticated presentation. An extensive wine list with some out of usual offerings. Also a good place to to go for breakfast in the Pudding Room section of the restaurant where they serve choices other than the usual run of the mill options.

Excellent food, agreeable stylish and relaxed setting. Much appreciated opportunity to bring our own wine and relatively reasonable corkage.

The chef explained the entire menu of the day to us. A lovely restaurant to try out meals prepared in a lovely way. Maybe slightly expensive.

Please note: My laptop and its bag with important business documents and information was stolen from my car in their secure parking. When I called the restaurant to complain there was NO interest to either ask the car guards if he was aware of the incident. I only got a oh, it must have been a guest who took your bag .Absolutelutely no voice of support of my loss or I will speak to the car guard. And then they have the cheek to charge us R145 for a lamb kebab!!

Fantastic Italian eatery - enjoyed conversing with the chef about the specials - he comes to each table throughout the night, and a fantastic meal and service overall. We had a few ‘small plates’ to share and there were a few real knockout winners:Snails in pepper Gorgonzola chilli, garlic, gratinated Parmesan (a special that night and one of the best things I’ve ever eaten)Bruschetta with lamb kidneys and chorizo - delicious.Calamari stuffed with linefish - tender, fresh, tasty.Sardines - best I’ve ever had.
