Simply awesome - trendy, welcoming, buzzing with great music and drinks deals.My friend and I stumbled upon this bar and met his local friend for an evening session. The place was packed with hip young locals relaxing to an excellent soundtrack of classic hip-hop and R&B, as well as some modern EDM and house mixed in too. There were 2 for 1 deals on cocktails until 1900, which we certainly took advantage of! It was an awesome place to relax and soak in the local scene. The rear terrace is the place to be, but seating is limited so arrive early to get an area. The food menu also looked very appetising.

This place is home to me, the vibe is everything, its Queer friendly, great music and affordable alcohol.

The Great Dane is a very chilled spot in the heart of braamfontein which is a predominantly student/young professional area. The think most amazing about Great Dane is the open chilled area at the back where u can relax or go dance inside

Visited the place at night and it was fun, the music that was being played was fantastic and the outside area provided a nice breathe of fresh air after dancing and the atmosphere was very vibrant.This is a bar I recommend going to if you looking for to go to a club without the whole club type environment

Lovely bar, the floor is made out of thousands upon thousands 5c coins which is quite the look. Bar staff is consistent, respectful and fast. The events that are done there tend to be some of the best in the city (here I cite Sunday Roast)

Awesome place.Drinks are reasonably priced. The music depends on which DJ is playing.However there is an indoor and outdoor area so thats enjoyableAlso if you look closely the floor has 5cent coins decorating the entire dance floor. Its awesome and detailed!

My first time there the waiters are super friendly but management should have a plan for the lounge are for bad weathers like today..as when the rain started everyone flocked inside umbrellas could have helped and water proof seats as the leather seats soaked in the rain

A great vibe! I went for the Sunday Roast on the 1st of September. The food is delicious and aesthetically pleasing. There were loads of drinks to choose from. My only complaint is one of their security guards. He was rude to me and wouldnt let me get BACK in even though I had the stamp on my wrist. He kept saying we must pay R50 to get back in.

Never ever ever in your life of partying go to this place, they have no clear policy, I went out to go buy a pack of ciggerettes when I got back I was told I need to pay an entrance fee?! It went as far as cops being called all because I wanted my stuff inside this place so I can leave because there was no ways I was paying yet I spent most of my afternoon and money there... This is another good spot for a sports bet or brothel..

I have been going since they opened in 2012. Consistently busy, especially Saturdays. If you want have a great time, this is the place. Friendly, liberal and fun.

This is one of the most inclusive spaces in Braam, inexpensive and great space to be in. Being here with a couple of friends on a warm Saturday afternoon is always a jol. I would recommend spending afternoons here for safety reasons. Overall this place is really awesome.

Had an overall amazing experience! The venue pulls in a relatively young crowd. The place did get tightly packed after a few hours of being there and the wait to get served at the bar is quite tiring. But overall, its a lovely venue to let loose!!

Great place to be on a thursday, especially on such days

The service at bar is quick, they make great cocktails and their beers are cold. The crowd is diverse and interesting. The music is on point and is great quality. It gets very crowded during rainy whether as a portion of the venue is outside. Do bring cash in case you have to entrance , for example on a Friday night, as there is no speed point at the door but the bar does take cards.

Although its small, its a great place to get your groove on and it has terrific specials on weekdays.

Great Dane is my home away from home. Despite only playing Hip Hop for 1 hour on Saturdays. They should have a hip hop only day. I love Great Dane but please play more hip hop.

Gosh so many memories of this place ! Its cozy during the afternoons ( on weekend), but at like 5/6pm it gets uncomfortably full, you have no other choice but to leave. Other than that, its an amazing place. I feel so nostalgic right now

Nice bar. Sells in house pizza at affordable prices and the pizza is a wow. Great service. Also has 8 ball pool area.

Heart of Braam culture, always busy on Saturday afternoons and evenings. Come with an open mind because there are plenty of wild and wonderful characters. Its a a bit small in terms of floor space but the intermate vibe allows for good chats and promote meeting new people

Awesome place to have some Saturday drinks. Nice outside area with loads of vintage light cover hanging everywhere. The inside floor is made of 5cents coins, very cool spot.

Always overcrowded, I mean sardine can type of compression with body pressed against body. Cant get a drink easily. Great place to get high off the weed cloud even if youre not smoking. If these dont discourage you, there are good djs and a fabulous party vibe. Visited several times and not yet captivated by the spirit of the venue.

The club is quite good with nice music. However, expect to get harassed by meter taxi drivers while you wait for your Uber outside. Have some spare cash ready to bribe your way out of a sticky situation.

Such a great place to have drinks with friends on Saturday afternoon, dance all night on Thursdays evening and meet new people at any day of the week.They do have a great selection of gourmet boerwors rolls but mostly a vibe for the drinks and the great music.

My Great Dane experience wasnt bad. I just wish they played some music I could twerk to and have some girly fun. Overall drinks were affordable and I did not get harassed by guys.
