Loved the place! The food was awesome, I ate a Kudu, the wine perfect. Service very friendly. One of the best meals I had in South Africa! Music and facial make like the African tribes.

Taste the authentic african food! I had chopped lamb and chips, which is good. Their service is also great. I think they changed their location to the end of Melrose Arch not the middle like google map shows.

Visited Kitamu for the very first time and could not have been more appalled.Traditional Durban Bunny - as described by the waiter as a flavour bomb, encapsulating aromatic mouthfuls of a Durban bunny chow.Disappointment struck as soon as the disjointed meal landed on our table. A burger bun, cut in the centre, boiled lamb- old, bland, pitiful. The salad that accompanied the meal was so acidic, pretty sure it almost burnt a hole through my stomach. 🙂Basically, a sunken catastrophe on a plate.Manager apologized profusely and we did not pay for the mess. Justice was served, at least.

Kitamu didnt live up to its Swahili name. I ordered the Mozambique Peanut Butter Chicken, which was a mistake. I have eaten this stew in many West African countries and several Southern Africa countries as well. Kitamus stew had so many problems I am not sure where to start! The rice was a savory mix that competed with the stew, but I was able to swap that out for sadza. The stew was heavy, sweet and lacked the basic flavors. A good groundnut stew should be light and the flavors of the basic ingredients--onion, tomato, and an unsweetened peanut butter--should dominate. Instead I has a thick, sweet, gooey mess on top of several pieces of chicken. It was awful. My recommendation to Kitamu is to take this dish off the menu, or invest in working with cooks that know how to prepare what should be a wonderful dish.

Steak was overdone by far and way too pricey to be wrongly prepared. They said that preparing spinach was going to take an hour, so I opted for mixed veggies. Veggies were bland. My gf asked for the rest of her food as takeaway - they wrapped it in tin foil.

The food was cold when served ruining the whole thing. Appart from that, the service was nice

Very bad experience, booked a table for the world cup final a week prior to the event. On arrival there was not one person to greet or assit us. They merely shruggled and said we had no tables. Rude, unproffessional and landed up not getting the table we had booked for. Staff were unhelpful. Resturant was in total chaos. Landed up leaving as they could not help us.
