My Black Olive Special is one of the best Pizzas Ive had. Wonderfully tasty topping selection of mozzarella, Italian tomato, onion, mushroom, olive, asparagus, bacon and pineapple and chili if you want. All on the same pizza. Great combination. Very reasonable price and went down very well next to the fire on this cold evening. The. Malva and custard was great too

We stopped here Tuesday night for our last dinner in Howick. It is nestled away yet cozy. We received such great service from the two ladies there. My mother and I both had the steak and veg. Excellently prepared. I highly recommend the cheesy garlic sauce. It was divine. It was also well priced for a tourist town and it is evident that they strive for a home-cooked experience. It was so nice!

Fantastic food and good atmosphere and service. (For old premises)Luckily the good food, friendly service and homely atmosphere moved along to the new premises. The new ptemises is way better than the last one, especially theample parking space.The food I ordered was coocked to my liking and extremely tasty. The servers were friendly and very helpful and the owner/chef also came round to the table to make sure we were satisfied with the food.Will definitely come back here in future!

So howick is pretty much a ghost town late on a Sunday afternoon, if youre looking for a bite to eat. Black olive was pretty bang on, had a pizza as usual 🍕 I will definitely be back you beauts.

The Black Olive has always been good.I love their new position in the White House Centre where you can choose to sit outside under the trees, or inside if you wish.Everyone had a great meal. I ordered grilled hake, with chips and salad and was not disappointed. Deliciously prepared fish.

Delightful Sunday lunch.

Very nice indeed, well worth a visit. Tables inside and outside in the courtyard (for us nicotine partakers) friendly, capable staff and an appreciative owner. Had the boneless lamb curry and want to try the Kassler chops next time. Lovely chocolate sauce (home made) with the ice cream. Will definitely be going back again.

A typical cafe/ bistro type restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch & dinner.We went there for breakfast as a family of 5. My sister ordered spaghetti and they said it would take a while, subsequently we requested that the food be brought out as it was ready.They brought all of it except my meal the same time and my parents food was cold. My meal took 10 minutes longer than everyone elses. On top of that the patty on the burger was raw, not medium rare and the chips had been cooked with leftover oil.The food tasted good but it was incredibly oily and the kitchen seemed to be confused when we didnt exclusively order breakfasts.Pros:•Good tasting food•Average serviceCons:•Undercooked meat•Re- using oil•Oily food•Kitchen is out of sync6/10A few minor mistakes that make a big difference. What could have been a 9/10 meal became a 6 because of silly mistakes & a lack of transparency.
