Staff are absolutely amazing, Vee was most kind however our room was a disappointment to say the least, the expectation on the website, screenshot Vs reality in the photo. Besides our lovely view, a pillar, the bath wobbles and our loo seat was broken, also had to ask for loo paperπŸ™ˆ. We asked for another room and was told there were none available. The actual lodge is beautiful. Dinner was awful as was the chefs attitude. Very sad as we have always wanted to stay. Thankfully we are on to new pastures☺️

Won my trip at a charity auction in 2016, went on my trip with my daughter in Nov 2017. I had never been to Africa before and this place was a fantastic first trip destination. The room was wonderfully comfortable and large. the food was better than I had hoped for, and much cheaper than I had ever expected. our guide was knowledgeable and fun to be with. the animals were spectacular and the additional excursions were relatively inexpensive and so worth it. It has become the trip of my life, especially since we followed it with another week in Madagascar, but thats a whole another fantasy come true!

Spending 6 days with my guide, Welcome, I really got to understand South Africa more deeply. The relationship we built gave my time at Zulu Nyala more of home stay experience, particularly the depth of conversations we had. At the same time, I had a gorgeous room overlooking the preserve with resort-quality meals and amenities.Staff is lovely and helpful. I have dietary restrictions and the Chef and his staff did a fantastic job accommodating it.I did one of the offered tours: the hippo boat and beach day in St. Lucia. We visited this place for 4 days and what an amazing time we had!!! The place is nestled in a beautiful forest with wild animals running freely. We enjoyed waking up in the mornings to a good breeze and spectacular views! My husband and I took a game drive for two hours and our ranger (Johan) was very knowledgeable and friendly. He took his time to drive around the bushes to find the best spots where we could see the animals. We even had the luck of seeing a giraffe drinking water! The staff was also very welcoming and friendly, particularly Melusi who made sure our stay was as comfortable as possible and that we got everything we requested. He was sure to make conversation whenever he could, very friendly guy.As for the food🀀 I cant thank the chef enough for delighting our taste buds throughout our vacation. It was delicious!! Definitely coming back with the kids next time!

The rooms were clean and spacious (the only positive thing about my stay)I was based in the honeymoon suite..room 19, the toilet wasnt flushing, had to call for assistance..Food was very poor.. when we booked, we made our dietary requirements very clear (lamb and chicken, no pork or beef). We received a response that our dietary requirements will be catered for. Dinner on the first night was supposed to be a buffet.. extremely poor. A buffet is a spread of items catering for all guests, there was 1 dessert provided, no idea what it was, didnt look appealing, no tag indicating what it was.. lamb curry was served, extremely dry and under salted. Hake was also served.. cold and no sauce to accompany itExtremely dismal service, and poor arrangement from the lodge. One salad was served, no variety at all.. how is this in anyway a buffet.. appalling for a tourist destination. I have been to so many buffets and to come here and see under 10 dishes being served was really disappointing. It was my mums birthday weekend getaway but it was ruined.. With no restaurants near the lodge or room service being provided we had to have the dinner at the lodge. Also, we are living through a time of a global pandemic. Being a health care professional, I was shocked to see no covid regulations being followed. No temperature checks upon arrival, no sanitizing upon arrival, no temperature checks at dinner, no symptom tracker forms, no sanitizers in the rooms, and most shocking was that the staff at dinner were not wearing masks. The chef did not have a mask on during breakfast time or dinner and she was making the eggs for breakfast ... which is utterly ridiculousUtensils were not being sanitized after use. It was a buffet and we were expected to use the same serving spoon after all the guests touched it without sanitizing it. Absolutely pathetic and no considerations for following the regulations. There were 3 cats present at the lodge which is disgusting in a time like this. Apparently they are stray however, they have names.. stray cats are not namedMy mum is allergic to cats and has a phobia tooUpon hearing that there are cats on the premises and that they do get naughty made her uneasy. We spoke to Vinod regarding our concerns for my mums safety and his attitude was one of ignorance and he showed no consideration towards my mums fear and the fact that she is allergic to cats. He had a very despicable attitude and was notΒ  accommodating. My mum had a fracture on her leg which he was aware of and he told her that there is nothing he can do about the cats and suggested that she should run from them when she sees them. That was an extremely inconsiderate comment to make to my mum, rude in fact.. I dont think he understands what a phobia and an allergy means. He also lied about ghe fact that cats ate stray because the staff members did tell us that those cats are his... he definitely needs to undergo training on how to handle customer feedback and how to communicate in a way that is appropriate. On the morning of her birthday, the cat passed our rooms. We were on the patio trying to enjoy her Birthday morning when this cat literally chased us around the pool. I am not personally afraid of cats but I do not like them and am not comfortable having them near me. I could only imagine the trauma my mum experienced when it chased her around. We somehow made it back to our rooms and it sat at the door refusing to leave. We were literally traumatized and it dampened the mood at the outset. This could have made my mum sick as she is allergic. It is sad that this matter was not taken seriously by managementWe ordered a cake to celebrate my mums birthday and that was ruined too. My mum celebrated her 51st birthday. The cake had Happy 51th? That is simple English. How can someone get that wrong. That is simply disappointing and utterly ignorant.Β  It should have been checked.. really poor on their side.

Very nice. As did most we won the trip in a silent auction. Sucked that airfare wasn’t included. Two safari’s a day was a bit much. Overall this is a very large property but animals are all the same after a few days. One thing that must be noted are the guides; they are incredible . They have great stories. All are super friendly and accommodating.

Rooms are good, so is service and staff are very friendly. Food could be better - you get tired of potatoes at each meal. B,L, & D is the only food available. Cannot purchase any snacks unless you rented a car and can drive to town. Reception staff could use more training. Due to no park-wide wifi, they can only communicate with guests via room phone. I guess they expect us to remain in the room waiting for their call. At initial check out was told a $3,500 Rand charge for airport transportation included both to and from airport. At final check out they added another $3,900 telling me that this was to airport and the other was only from the airport. So, basically it cost me around $600 US. Its not that this ruined my experience, but definitely affected my rating.

We purchased this trip at my grandsons school auction. I must say we were prepared for a bad experience - however, it was great. The food was excellent. The accommodations were lovely. It was a beautiful setting. The safari grounds are on the small side but we felt like we knew the animals by the time we left. We visited two other game reserves that are nearby and this added to the trip and experience. Everyone is assigned a guide who takes you on all the game visits and arranges outside trips. We had Amon and he was wonderful. He was very well informed. He had information on all the animals, birds, trees, flowers, etc. You name it - he had the answer!! He was friendly and extremely helpful. We cannot say enough good things about Amon!!

We stayed at the Game Lodge after reading reviews. Like everyone else this was won in a charity auction. The Game lodge was on the reserve and very quiet, the room included was small with twin beds. We upgraded to a bigger room by the pool which was well worth the $500 fee. They put you together with same guide and guests for all safaris. Which in our case was fantastic! The other people in our group stayed at the Heritage. None of us split time between resorts. We viewed the Heritage grounds as well. So pros & cons:Heritage Lodge:Bigger apartment size rooms no upgrades necessary. Grounds are immense with beautiful gardens, you can drink the water, more crowded. Outside the reserve.Game Lodge:Inside the reserve. More intimate. Our food was fantastic (did not eat at Heritage). You get two bottles of water daily, after that you will need to purchase water when dining. Very quite mountain top setting at pool and dining area. Some animals on grounds. We had monkeys, a family of Nyalas, and ran into warthogs. Both venues were great so I dont think you will be disappointed at either. The tents are right next to the rooms at Heritage and would be my last choice, their only difference was a tented roof.Take warm jacket for early morning safaris and take money for tipping your driver. They suggest $200.00 per couple for driver at end of week. $10.00 per person ,per day for the rest of the staff.(You can put these on your bill). We tipped our maid extra and gave a tip when ordering wine for our meal. (The wine was very reasonable). The extra excursions are pricey but I highly recommend you go to Pinta to see the lions and their beautiful reserve.
