They currently have only 1 hiking trail of 7 km with a great intensity and over 300 m of elevation gain. If you prefer more distance you can do the trail twice in both directions. A bit boring but worth it. They are apparently planning to add another trail of over 10 km.I like that the trail has many segments that are just under the trees with lots of shade to cool down. So you can also start around mid morning and not suffer much from the heat. After the hike you can enjoy delicious food! They serve a big cheese beef burger and a cheesy chicken prego with very cold drinks. The toilets are clean with lots of soap and Sanitizers are everywhere.

Went hiking at this place today. Unfortunately the only friendly faces we encountered was Louis the security guard and his mate, a half tamed monkey. The hiking trail is awesome. It was developed in such a manner that the Hennops river is always somehow visible, except at the beginning and the end.The route is just over 7km and runs in a half circle through the property. We found the route to be fair. There are some beautiful natural views on this route. Go do this hike to enjoy nature, but please do not expect to be welcomed on arrival or seen off when you leave.

Moderate 7km hike. Beautiful scenery, from something that looked like a beach next to the river to the most picturesque lookouts. Had a good workout.🙌🙌💪

Breathtakingly beautiful, pet friendly, scenic and safe. Diverse terrain to explore suitable for an intermediate hiker. My fitbit said 7.5kms so this would be perfect for someone who feels they are ready to level up from a 5km but are not sure if they are ready for a 10km. The constantly changing terrain ensures you do not get bored...from veld, to the banks of the Crocodile River, to hills covered in slate, a canopy of reeds, culminating in the more challenging mountain portion of the hike. Have a refreshing beer and a burger at the restaurant once done.Security and rescue employees available on the site put my mind at ease.I love that Africaland allows our dogs to participate in this gorgeous experience. I wish more hiking trails would cater to this market. The boys enjoyed being allowed off their leashes and made sure to take a dip in the Crocodile River and get covered in mud.IMPORTANT NOTES TO PET OWNERSPlease make sure you know your dogs fitness levels. My small dogs are very active and fit but took some strain the last 2kms. If yours are not very fit I would suggest you dont do the full route.Be sure to pack plenty of water. It gets hot out there!! The last few kms of the walk is not close to the river and is mostly in the sun. Best time to do the walk would be early morning to avoid the worst of the heat. Please pick up Fidos business...I see a lot of pet owners are not doing this and this explains why so few hiking trails allow dogs.I absolutely loved this place. I will definately be visiting this trail again! Thank you for allowing our pets and providing such a wonderful experience.

A beautiful and well marked 7km trail with a restaurant to enjoy a limited menu at the end. The trail has some challenging hills but is moderate in general. Beautiful scenary and great views stretching for miles. Alot of rubbish deposited from the river along the river beds but the rest of the trails were spotless. Apparently there are antelope on the trail but we did not see any. Quite expensive at R80 for the trail but really is a beautiful morning in the fresh air.

This hiking trail is difficult and exhausting. One must be very fit to undergo this terrain. The trail is most difficult when you hit the 4km and one has to go up and down the mountains. This is not for the fainthearted.

This venue is one of those places that gives you such an laid back relaxing vibe, or it could be the great welcoming you get from the staff and owner Margaret, naturally the hiking is stunning and offers some pretty awesome views while meandering along the crocodile river where if you lucky you can catch a glimpse of fish eagles or hear them calling. Then as you complete a fun morning out with family or friends as you complete the well marked trail you might be in for a treat if ladies from yoyo spitbraais are setup and ready to dish up some amazingly tasty food, I highly recommend you treat your taste buds and then just enjoy the rest of the day with excellent service and good times, I will be a returning customer indeed.

What a great hike! 8.3 km of ups and downs, great views and wonderful walks by the river. Its a shame to see all the litter that has been washed up by the river, but I guess thats the sad reality of most of our river walks. Will be back soon! Thanks for the special morning!

A great hike thats not too far from Randburg. Welcomed by friendly people, food and drinks available in a cool outdoor picnic area. It has a clean pool and facilities thats always welcomed. The trail itself is really nice, marked and well kept (not overgrown). Offers different terrains from rocky to beach sandy, to slate and more rocky areas. Got to hike through forest sections, alongside a river with a beach-like feel, up a manageable hill and through rocky, small canyon-like bits. Plus its pet friendly! Its just really sad that the river has plastic and trash stuck in the trees... probably not something the establishment can do much about on their own. Would recommend the trail and hope that some day, all the plastic could just disappear. Perhaps a clean up can be arranged?

Note to those that are hiking. On the website Africaland advertise hiking for R70 but at the gate it was R80 cash, no card payment. Their longest hiking trail was 9km on the advert buy when we got there it was on 7km. They are very dishonest, the guy who was supposed to give us directions was very impatient with us. Poor service. They should be happy I gave them 1 star.

The hike is beautiful and great that you can take your dog. Other people complain about the littering next to the river, but I dont think there is much they can do about it. The litter is coming from upstream. The website should be updated though, the information is outdated. Some things to keep in mind:1. Cash only2. R 80 for the hike. R 40 for younger than 123. There is only one hike of 7.6 km at this stage

What a fun outing! The views and interesting geology made for great pics. The walk was challenging and hot...exactly what you want from a memorable hike. !! The only negatives were the litter on the riverbank (the river came down some time ago) and that left behind on the trail by other hikers. Bottles and wrappers just left anywhere. Shocking and sad. But apart from that....great venue, excellent hosts and worthwhile time spent. Thank you!!

Lets be honest, I was ready to give this one a solid one star after I had to wait a long time in the queue to get in, this while only one guy was running up and down handling all the cars, i.e. asking for forms to be filled in, taking payments, etc.. and then the parking was a bit difficult. However the hike itself was great, not too difficult and not super easy, and the Preggo steak roll afterwards was pretty delicious. That saved the day for me, please handle the entrance better and youll have plenty repeat customers. Most hiking places in the area allow people to park and then pay at a cashier, so that is probably the best way to go.

Leaving the hustle of the city I feel my shoulders relaxing. This world heritage site is an amazing place with so much to do from hiking , camping ( in their tents ) mtb , 4x4 trail and even a restaurant. The hike was absolutely amazing level 4/10 with some steep climbs. It’s also good for beginners. I ambled along the crocodile river against the backdrop of slate mountains. I passed through white stink wood forest , the black slate wall , bamboo forests and climbed the mountain to enjoy the view of the meandering waters of the crocodile river rushing past a sheer cliff on its way to The Kruger National Park. I could see the nuclear plant on the opposite hill - it’s massive. I started at 10h40 took 3h30 back at 14h10Almost died when I was confronted my a family of Linx ( Rooicat ) these wild predators took my breath away as they are incredibly beautiful creatures with striking features. I had a few baboons scurry in the veld as I passed but I’m at ease with them. All done - the owners Margaret and her husband Jean invited me to sit and have a beer with them where we discussed wildlife , animals on the farm and the farms history. This is where they invited me to look a mural by “”Pierneef “”painted on the wall of the Farm house ((And a one and two and a one and a two))Peddle pledge come on ‼️‼️‼️Did my fist official MTB trail Africaland -I did the “ winging it “ trail meaning I follow any path I feel like turning into. Definitely challenging on the muscles 🤪but that is soothed away by the majestic views of rushing rivers and slate covered mountains ⛰⛰. Definitely one of my favorite places to hike and MTB🚵🏻‍♂️Sit down for a delicious meal ,beer or refreshment when you done and talk about the day of hiking or MTB adventures with friends. Oh the jack russel is the ❤️ and loved to come say hi and howdyDefinitely strike this one a a must on your bucket list 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Had a terrible expirience here, we ended up not hiking...There was only 1 person working at the gate when we went, slow moving traffic with little/no covid-19 regulations being observed. Prices differed to what we were advised and what was shown on the board when you enter. And after waiting for ages; you are told that they only take cash :(Might try them again in future, but that wasnt a nice first impression. So, if you want to go make sure that:- you dont focus on the displayed prices- have cash- own safety measures (covid)- a lot of patience

Though it is really beautiful, the litter & refuse lying on the trail - especially close to the river - takes away from this majestic walk. There were no bins & we had to walk most of the hike with a poo bag from our dogs. The staff are very friendly & helpful. It would have been nice if there was 1 toilet / porta-potty along the route. It is quite a hard hike & every time you think youve reached the top, it just keeps going.Food at the restaurant was ok, the swimming pool & bathroom is clean. Will do it again, but not soon.
